Judge Bean's is reopening in Brentwood on Monday, July 20th. You will love the Texas style BBQ. The brisket is awesome, as is the atmosphere. Live music on the weekends and new...

Yuck. Saddle up and ride on back to Texas. The service was RUDE, the fries were cold, the beef was fatty, it was too expensive for what you get...I'll stick to good ole Tennessee bbq...give me pulled pork anyday! I wouldn't waste another dime at Judge Bean's... Cons: only valet parking, rude order taker, too expensive more

Mean, Mean, Judge Bean 5/3/2006

Want to try Judge Beans? Perhaps a different name might suit the experience youll have if you do: Judge Expensive Bean Judge Rude Bean Judge Rude Bean Judge BAD Bean Judge $1.50 for slice of cheese Bean Judge $11 for a bologna sandwich Bean Judge cold french fries Bean Judge valet parking only Bean Judge bad for your heart and your wallet Bean Judge wouldn't go back if they paid me Bean more

As Close to Texas as a Texan can get here 3/25/2006

Whoever these people are that are saying the BBQ here is bad have must really enjoy romantic evenings at Hardee's or something. The only reason not to come here is because it might mean that last table is taken and we wouldn't have a place to sit! Get the wraps, beans, potatoe salad, and diablo. Top it off with a Shiner Bock and some hot BBQ sauce and you'll leave here full as a tick. This is REAL BBQ from Texas. I would eat here every night if I could. Pros: Food, Shiner, Music more

Bad barbeque,mediocre beef jerky 3/21/2006

Everything, with the exception of the baked beans, must have spent an eternity under a heat lamp. Dry, tuff, and flavorless are a few of the nicer words I would use to describe the food. I have eaten here twice, once at the old place, once at the new one. Both times food was not edible. New location is a bit more upscale, but the service is still lacking. I am not sure why there is such a large bar when they only serve a small selection of beer. Save your money for cheaper and better barbeque. Pros: live bands Cons: expensive, horrible food, confusing service more

trim the fat 2/16/2006

Since moving from Wedgewood, the Judge has decided to avoid wasting the fat on the brisket. If you like fat, this is the place for you! Pros: it's barbeque Cons: fat, fat, fat more

Pretty bad 12/6/2005

Food was not good at all. We were a party of 5 and no one enjoyed their food. The meat was burnt. One person received almost no food at all. There were problems with 2 of the orders and my fries was floating in some kind of liquid (looked like the water they boiled the green beans in, which I did not order). I really looked forward to going based on reviews, but am sorry to say was very disappointed. The only light point in the experience was that 2 of the 3 people performing was pretty good. Also, we looked up their address on their website - turns out they moved locations a looong time ago, and never updated their website. Pros: Music Cons: Parking, Food, Service more

Yeah! REAL BBQ 9/25/2005

When my husband and I saw the sign we knew it was Texans... Nashvegans don't know who Judge Bean is... having grown up in West Texas, I knew that this was going to be a good day to dine. Portions are huge, potato salad is AWESOME as is the brisket and sausage. The only ""self-serve"" thing is your drink. The color is PERFECT... dark color on the outside, the tell-tale pink ring inside, getting hungry just thinking about it. Plenty to eat, see and listed to at the Judge's. We have some fellow transplanted Texan friends, and this is where we go when ever we are longing for some real food. AND, if I hear from one more person how much Texas has to thank Tennessee for their independence...I am going to scream. Personally I thing it was the BBQ that drew them all to the promised land...just my opinion. Pros: food, atmosphere, prices Cons: parking, BYOB more

texan in nashville? 7/31/2005

you need to visit the judge. texas style bbq that will remind you of your childhood. it has also converted several of my tn native friends who swore by pork bbq that is really too vinegary and obscures any natural meat flavor. remember kids... a pig soaked in vinegar isn't bbq. Pros: decent pricing, quality bbq, family friendly Cons: not open sunday more

THE BEST!!!! 6/10/2005

I am from Texas, and this is definitely some of the BEST BBQ I have ever tasted!!! A must for BBQ Lovers!!! Brisket Tacos are devine! Pros: Friendly service Cons: parking more

It's official... 6/7/2005

If you don't like Judge Beans Barbecue...fair enough. But this is Texas barbecue at it's finest. Shrimp Diablo is amazing. The brisket tacos are one of a kind. Factor in the fact that on any given night you'll hear national recording acts who hail from Texas and just happen to stop in for a song and a snack and you've got a truly unique experience. It's not self serve, it sure as he#$ ain't burnt, and it's all good! Pros: everything Cons: parking more

Best Texas BBQ in Tennessee 6/5/2005

Moved to Nashville from Mesquite, TX 12 years and missed bbq beef until a friend of mine introduced me to Judge Beans over a year ago. Now, when I want great BBQ I leave my quaint area in Franklin, TN and dine in at Judge Beans. Smoked brisket and the Texas sushi (shrimp wrapped in bacon, has a kick) is my wifes favorite. Good eatin'. No self service, don't know where one of the reviewers got that from, they bring the food to the table. Folks need to get their restaurants straight. Good place to impress company. My wife complained her tamales were dry...but it's a BBQ joint! Pros: great music, great food, Feels like I'm in TX Cons: need 1 in Franklin TN more

Time for Beef BBQ 5/2/2005

The reviews praising this place are right on. The food and atmosphere are perfect. I am a Texas Native (go true Burnt Orange) and this is Texas food. Brisquette should be black on the outside when smoked so much for a review of burnt food. Sorry it wasnt pork shoulder but that is how it is suppose to be. Cafeteria Style? My food has been brought to me every time I have been in the establishment. If you have ever been to Tx or long to move back, this place will make you feel at home. Prices are perfect and the food is even better. If you like it hot try the diablos.... Judge Beans, keep it up guys!!! Pros: food, atmosphere, staff Cons: I am thinking more

High Prices, Poor Food... 2/27/2005

While it tries to add a unique flare to the Nashville restaurant scene - Jude Bean's fails when it comes to food. The meat is very fatty, the french fries are disgusting (wet & oily). You'll pay a bit more than other BBQ joints and enjoy it less as well. I've been to texas, and the reason Judge Bean is in Nashville is because this stuff would be laughed at as real TX BBQ! Pros: Neat Place/Atmosphere Cons: Fatty Meat, High Prices, Poor Attitude more

BBQ Delight 1/31/2005

I strongly believe that Judge Beans is the greatest BBQ establishment in Nashville. The bbq tacos are phenomenal. For those who dont know, they are brisket bbq with guacamole and salsa wrapped in a corn tortilla. A judges favorite, and mine as well. Try it out. Pros: fast, delicious more

LOVED THE BBQ 1/9/2005

I THOUGHT I DID NOT LIKE BEEF BBQ. THE BRISKET WAS DELICIOUS. I HAD THE COMBO PLATE AND LOVED ALL OF IT (COWBOY BEANS, SAUSAGE, PORK RIBS......). ANOTHER REVIEWER LISTED HERE COMPLAINED OF HIGH PRICE AND SMALL PORTIONS?! WERE WE IN THE SAME RESTAURANT? I HAD PLENTY TO TAKE HOME AND THE PRICE WAS ABOUT THE SAME AS OTHER BBQ RESTAURANTS. A+ DON'T FORGET TO BRING YOUR OWN BEER!! more

Overrated and overpriced 11/24/2003

My wife and I went there one afternoon after reading about how great it was, we were terribly disappointed. I had the brisket, which was almost burnt and tasted like charcoal lighter fluid. The fries were okay. My wife had the ribs which were completely burnt, almost meatless, dry, and also tasted like lighter fluid. The food was overpriced even if it had been better, and the portions were small. Everything was self serve(cafeteria style) Service was indifferent at best. Do not recommend. Cons: parking, food terrible, service more

Great food 7/30/2003

The food is fantastic! The price is a bit high for the amount of food you get. I came away hunger. That may kill them if they're looking for alot of repeat business. I would recommend people try it at least once. Pros: Good Food, Good Service, Nice people Cons: Expensive, Small portions, Parking more
