Guacamole heaven 2/22/2011

While visiting our daughter in NOLA, we had lunch at Juan's. Our server seemed new, and to be asked more than once for refills, napkins, chips. However, and this is the important part, the food was amazing. We ordered Gutter Punk, pork tacos, beef tacos, and pork and slaw tacos. The Gutter Punk was very good, the pork and slaw taco a new favorite, and the guacamole something I could eat every day. I wouldn't call it cheap, but everything in NOLA seems high to me. I would definitely go back. In fact, I would have already been back if we could have stayed another day. Yum. more

Best Burrito in the City 7/29/2008

Everything I have eaten here has been delicious: the beans and rice dip appetizer, the shrimp tacos, cheese enchiladas. But my absolute favorite is the Jerk-Chicken burrito. I used to go there every week for lunch when I worked downtown. I go out of my way to eat there now. Just love it. Don't roll up at seven at night on a Friday though, the place will be packed! Pros: Cheap, Amazing food, funky Magazine Street feel, margaritas are pretty good too Cons: Can get REALLY crowded some nights more

Best burritos - and huge too 6/14/2007

This place is perfect for hanging out and trying your luck with one of their giant burritos. I've never been with a person who could finish a whole one in one sitting. If you live nearby, they're really good for takeout Pros: Fresh and cheap burritos more

Fly in another direction! 2/21/2007

There is no such thing as customer service in this place- from the waitstaff to the management. When dining out I at least expect is a casual hello, my drink within 5 minutes, a correct entree order within a reasonable amount of time and a check when I'm done. This is entirely too much to ask for from a server at Juans and forget about speaking to management about rude service and problems with your bill because their attitudes are just as ugly. You can get better service and QUALITY food at several other mexican joints throughout the city. Pros: Cheap food Cons: Service, Management, Poor Quality more

I get a craving about twice a week but could eat there every day 10/5/2006

I wouldn't call Juan's Mexican but it really isn't Tex-Mex... All I know is there is always room for Juan's and you are so going to need it. Quality is good, service is excellent, taste is awesome, and quantities are huge. Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Especially good for the ""Day After"" with a huge hangover or even a first date dinner. more

Eh. Not great/Not too bad 9/8/2006

this place is ok. it was not outstanding, but it also wasn't awful. i had the shrimp tacos. the shrimp was a little too fishy. the beans/rice are put into the taco - which is interesting - but makes for quite a mess. none of the salsas had any bite which was very disappointing. it's not at all ""mexican"" food. but it was ok for what it was and it was a pretty good value. Pros: food is ok (as long as you're not looking for mexican food) Cons: nothing is spicy. more

Lived off it after Katrina 5/5/2006

They re-opened on Magazine in October and were one of the few places to eat that soon after Katrina and it couldn't have been better! I've had just about everything on the menu now and it's all good, good, good! My fav are the mission style burritos, but be sure to peel the foil as you eat, if you take it off completely you'll need a fork and a napkin! Go there, eat well and take home the leftovers! It's cheap and tasty, perfect combo! more

Best flying burrito ever 11/15/2002

This is a review of the Magazine St. Juan's. I can't speak for any of the new locations. Best flying burrito ever. Like I said in the subject. Food is really good. Music is really good. Service is kind of bad, but that's the point (it was better when you had to get your own food, and the cooks all smoked over the food they were preparing). This is possibly the coolest place (for food to put inside of you) in the city. more

areucrazy 11/3/2002

This restaraunt was filthy and the food mediocre. Can't believe this was even considered as best of anything. more

flying fish tacos 8/16/2002

Juan's rules. The fish tacos are the best and they only cost 5 or 6 bucks. Loads of veggie options, too- I like the Western mixed veggie and the Super Green burritos. My husband gets the pork quesadilla every time. Juan's satisfies the urge to eat dinner out, while being super cheap- even with beer, our dinners are always under twenty bucks for both. Pros: usually fast Cons: very loud more

it rocks 8/11/2002

fresh ingredients & ""build your own"" burritos & quesadillas. best guacamole. great for herbivores or carnivores. very inexpensive dining & friendly service Pros: v. inexpensive, always good Cons: sometimes loud more

The Best! 8/8/2002

I visit New Orleans for personal and business reasons about four times a year. Every time I go I'm sure to stop in two or three times for a bite to eat at JUAN'S FLYING BURRITO. Man, this place is the best! Where else can you get cheap beer, Sloppy Seconds and Black Flag on the CD player, and the best Tex-Mex food this side of, well, Tex-Mex! Want to know a secret? Next time you're there be sure to meet Judson - he's famous! Pros: Yummy!, Informative!, Sexy! more

Flying Goodness. 6/6/2002

Delicious. Great for vegetarians. I recommend the Jerk Chicken Burrito. Pros: Great Value, Good Times, Good Food more

a one of a kind, hip restaurant 6/2/2002

this place is the coolest and tastiest mexican restaurant in town. hands down! Pros: cheap, delicious, good specials more
