The fare at Juan's is indeed uniformly satisfying, and almost anything you order will be rewarding. The atmosphere, however, has its drawbacks. The smallish front dining room is comfortable enough, and the larger back room is certainly airier and better for large groups. But the no-frills decor teeters precariously on the thin line between minimalist charm and just plain run-down. The heavily-pierced, midriff-baring waitstaff is friendly enough, but your in-laws or kids might be put off. Solid, fun food, but don't stray too far outside its target Uptown boho chic demographic.
