This place sucks and then some 1/29/2011

Joseph's has existed for longer than our 27 years in Stillwater. In fact, our realtor met us there when we were house shopping. Joseph's looks out over scenic Highway 36 -- a great location if you're looking for that authentic service-road-next-to-a-flat-ugly-highway experience. Locals have always been quick to recommend this place, the primary reason being that misery loves company. Most of the people who love this place are now in their eighties with diminished tastebuds (and policemen). The food is completely nondescript and vastly overpriced. The last time we ate here, which was many years ago, we were unhappy with our food (their special) and complained about it. We were rudely informed that this item was a big seller and ""Everybody loves it."" In other words, ""We don't give a rat's hiney if you don't like it. Your neighbors have low enough standards to have kept us in business for decades and we don't need you."" Their pies are overrated. Believe us, there's nothing available here that isn't better and cheaper elsewhere. Way worse than mediocre, with no ambiance. Take this seriously. We're not being malicious, just trying to save someone from wasting their money. This place is a reason why NOT to go local. If you have a shard of self-respect, don't eat here. Use the money you'll save by not eating here for gas to go someplace good. more

ARE YOU F**KING KIDDING ME??? What a JOKE!!! 4/21/2010

I'm a local Stillwater resident (my family and I have been for years) and have been to Joseph's quite a few times. I'm a good enough patron to have my daughter on the mailing list for the ""free"" (yeah right) birthday dessert ""up to $5."" The certificate has no restrictions on it (other than it can't be used for takeout), lists the pies that they have, and also recommends bringing the entire family out to enjoy the birthday. I did just that, taking my daughter and my parents out for a fairly pricey dinner considering the food. I tried to redeem the ""free"" dessert up to $5 and apply it to a purchase a pie that our whole family could share. The waitress then went on to tell me that she couldn't do that. WHAT? She then went and got the manager, (who turned out to be ""Joe Jr."") and I nicely explained the situation, explained that nowhere on the certificate does it say it can't be for a whole pie, and simply asked him if he could make an exception. I told him if he wouldn't allow it we just simply wouldn't get any dessert. HERE'S WHERE IT GETS FUNNY: Instead of MAKING AN ADDITIONAL $15 on us buying a whole pie, he actually refused our request to purchase the whole pie. WTF!?! In the meantime he's pissed off some locals who are now willing to take the time to write a review of the entire experience. I also plan on taking this up with Joe Sr. so he knows what a moron his son is. As they say...BUYER BEWARE!!! P.S. Drive a half mile East on HWY 36 and go to the OASIS! MUCH better food and half the price! Pros: What Pros? Cons: Ownership, food, cost....should I continue? more

Valley's Top Spot for Breakfast and Pies 10/12/2004

If you like fast friendly service, hot delicious food and fresh coffee then Joseph's is a must. Sure you can go to Perkins, Baker's Choice, Friendly's or any other bland franchise restaurant. But why? Josephs serves a variety of dishes, never dull and always fresh. For me it is a tough choice between the dependable daily breakfast specials - only $5.99! For that you get sausage, ham or applewood bacon eggs anyway, home fries and toast! Also served once a week on special is Eggs Benedict. So tell me where you can get value like that. Once in a while I will splurge on Joseph's great overstuffed omelettes that come with all the sides for only a couple bucks more. Joseph's best offering are the pies. Homemade family recipes and out of this world. The owner has made his little spot on H 36 a very special eatery. Pros: variety of foods, great value, cheerful staff Cons: , small cashier area, noisy more

Its A Great Place 8/15/2002

The service at Josephs is wonderful, we loved the young lady that waited on us hand over feet. The food was absolutely delicious and the pie was just amazing. Its hard to believe that a warm welcoming place is located in the heart of Stillwater right off Highway 36. The manager, owner and workers really know how to treat the customers that walk into the restaurant. Pros: Nice Bathrooms, Great waitstaff, Exceptional Food Cons: Out of Some Pies, Charges for Cheese, Doesnt Reservations more

Josephs Family Restaurant 8/13/2002

This restaurant is really no different than a Perkins but there are these really good waiters there that are named Tom, Paul, Jeff and a great waitress named Keri. Ask for them they have a great personality and are just great waiter/waitresses. Another thing about the place that is just great is that great hometown feeling, oh and the pies are just great. Try the Rasberry Chochlate Supreme, Its to die for Pros: male waitstaff, Good Parking, Great Pie Cons: Small Entryway, Bathrooms in Smoking, Wendys Next Door more
