Best Restaurant in Pgh!!! 10/3/2011

I travel all over the country and can tell you, this restaurant is as great a place as you will find!!! Great selection of Italian favorites, wonderful fresh fish, and steaks that are better than any of the local steak houses. Every time I come into town I have to make at least one trip there. I try other places and just end up wondering why. Oh yea, Joe (chef/owner) will make the experience even better!! Don't forget to have a meatball, there the best anywhere!!!! more

ugh!! 8/31/2009

What a nightmare, first we started with a fly being poured out of the pitcher into my water glass..the waiter emptied the pitcher to refill mine and the 2 others that weren't poured as yet, but somehow forgot about the 1st glass poured from the fly in water pitcher!! Then my friend complained that her fish was chewy and she wasn't pleased with it, I tasted it and it was fishy to me. The waiter called out the chef who proceeded to tell my friend how many orders of the fish he sold that day and there were Drs. upstairs eating it (during this time), and everybody thought it was wonderful. Great, however there can always be a bad fish and 2 of us agreed that it was indeed unedible. Nothing was offered to replace the main course....the chef went on to hear compliments from those who were satisfied. Then to top off the evening, my friend alerted the staff when making the reservation that it was a ""big"" birthday that would be celebrating that evening...and to pay close attention to her friend (me). She mentioned my B'day when we walked in (wanting a nice table) and also at dessert time, urging me to order for my day. Nothing was done..not even a simple Happy B'day! How embarrasing... Cons: SERVICE....food more

What century is this? 8/8/2009

Three floors, two bathrooms with one stall each with the ladies on the second floor. Heavy, greasy, oversauced 1970s style food that the chef must have learned to cook from his great-grandmother. Unless you want overpriced food buried in heavy sauces don't bother. The atmosphere is like a funeral parlor. And I actually heard the owner instruct his Ma?tre d' not to give a table to a particular server because the guest was a bigot. There are a lot of fine 21st century restaurants out there with owners who don't cater to antebellum prejudice. Try them instead! Pros: If you want retro cuisine from the 1970s look no farther.. Cons: Otherwise don't bother! more

Best Italian Food 6/4/2009

Excellent food and reasonable prices. Staff will try to accommodate any table you ask for. I always visit this restaurant when I am in Pittsburgh. It's a legend! Pros: Fried Zuchini Cons: at bit noisey when busy more

Best food in Pittsburgh 2/22/2007

Of all the restaurants in Pittsburgh, this one is by far the best. After tyring many of the ""fine dining"" places in the city and being disappointed with mostly all of them, it was a relief to finally find a place that knows quality food and what a fine dining experience should be. Pros: Ambience. Quality of food. Exceptional service. Cons: May be pricey for some but worth every penny. more
