Joilet Junior College

Good: So many people have to attend JJC for various reasons: they want to live at home at ages 18, 19, 20, they want to save money before transferring, or they need to resurrect their own life. JJC is the perfect option for all three. It sounds cheesy, but you really can achieve all you want to achieve at JJC. This is one of the cheapest place to obtain a quality education. The coursework is usually no more difficult than average - just always put in all the work you need to put it in, and talk with the teache. Bad: If you are looking for a social life, there isn't one at JJC. It's a community college, and you really don't see the people in your classes elsewhere in the school (hardly ever). 60% of the students at JJC are part time students. I took a number of courses at JJC in order to pick up some general education requirements in order to get a teaching certificate. These were almost all telecourses and were very convenient since I was working full time. JJC is also a good value for the money if you live in the district. One program I know they specialize in is culinary arts. I've gone to some of the student brunches held at the Renaissance Center and they are excellent. more

Due to procrastination, I had forced myself into only one option for advanced schooling, Joliet Junior College. I was a bit bummed at first, but figured I'd might as well give it a try. I'm so glad I have, because JJC is really a wonderful school. All of my teachers are great, knowledgeable people, and really want to work with you. I have learned so much from these teachers already, and I haven't even been there a whole year yet. I'm really glad I made this decision. You won't be disappointed. more
