I just moved to the neighborhood and didn't know where to look for food, when I saw the name Jonny Rockets I was pleased to see there was one by my new home! I had the original burger and the service by Salwa was excellent! ;) more

Not the best burger but really great service 10/30/2010

The burger I had was a little dry but the server, Salwa, was so darling and fun I actually intend to go again. I've been there about 7 or 8 other times to this same location and think that sometimes the food isn't the greatest but fairly good. Where they win is their service (the other servers are also very sunny and make it a nice experience to go there. The place is really clean and I kinda like the retro atmosphere and bright ambience of the groundfloor part of the restaurant. more

Great Sports lounge 10/19/2010

I went to johnny rockets the other day and visited their sports lounge. The bartender Claudia was fabulous. She made me a apple martini and i loved it. They also put what i wanted to watch on tv it felt as if i was in my own house. They also have this great thing called a sound dog that allows you to hear whats playing on the tv. Im gonna make it a habit to go back there especially when she's working. more

Retro, Cute 10/19/2010

I visited Johnny Rocket on 1st ave this week with friends and liked the ambiance the best. You feel like you're stepping back in time to the "sock-hop" era of the '60s. The problem was the service. We went upstairs to the lounge and were the only customers there. The waiter was friendly, but he did not serve us our drink orders for 10 minutes (maybe longer). We finally received our food order after a longer wait. I ordered a chili dog and it was average at best. The orders of onion rings and fries my friends received were pretty stingy. I was disappointed, but I would probably go back, if just for the ambiance. more

Best Lunch on 1st Ave 10/19/2010

I go to JR's for my lunch ~2-3x/week and always sit in Salwa's section...she has my order memorized! Service is quick and efficient and the food is great! more

Better all the time 10/13/2010

This JR location is trying very hard to make a positive impression. In a neighborhood that has places to eat every 20 feet this place is worth the trip. The place wins my basic lunch trifecta: - GOOD - REASONABLY PRICED FOOD - CLEAN ENVIRONMENT - AWESOME, FRIENDLY SERVICE! Food is good, hot, and lettuce and tomatoes are fresh (they don't look like they've been in someone's back pocket.) Ms. Salwa is our favorite waitress! She always makes a special effort to get our order just right. Give this place a try; you won't be disappointed. more

Just The Way I Like It 10/9/2010

I am on a particular eating plan which pays special attention to food combination. Since I cannot combine starches and proteins, I opt for the Streamliner. Its a juicy veggie patty, great texture by the way, served with grilled onions, mustard, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Since I like spicy, I always ask if they will add jalapenos, and the cutesy 50's styled waitresses always oblige. This spot really makes it the way I like. One time I ordered a chocolate malt shake, and they were out of malt. The manager sent someone out for a bag of whoppers so that they could make my shake. Very cool. The bar upstairs is equipped with full bar, a flat screen everywhere you turn and even a few comfy couches. I watch the games there on Sunday while downing one too many pilsners of Guiness. All that and a happy hour to end all. 2 for 1 drinks, and Im talking top shelf. Awesome more

$2 Pints in Manhattan 7/27/2010

I live near this Johnny Rockets but the first time I went was during the World Cup because every other bar in the neighborhood was packed. The Sports Lounge half of the place is upstairs and I had a great experience! The food was exactly what I was craving, a big juicy burger, some fries and a cold beer to watch the game. They have a special "Rocket Beer" which is Coors for $2! It is rare to find beer that cheap in Manhattan. The walls are lined with flat screen TVs and they have personal sound boxes you can bring to your booth. I had a perfectly unobstructed view of the game and although the place was pretty packed, but the crowd wasn't obnoxious like the 2 bars I tried to go into before coming here. This place is super clean, the staff is nice, and it's a fun, mid-priced, casual place to take a date. Or watch a Mets game with guys. I've been stopping by every weekend for a drink now. More people should jump on this pony, it won't disappoint. Pros: Cheap beer, good food, friendly service Cons: needs more people on the weekends!! more

Are you even close to kidding me??? 3/4/2010

I came to this Johnny Rockets thinking that it would be like all others. WRONG!!!! The food took more than 20 minutes and tasted like cardboard and sheet rock!! The server checked on it for us like 10 times in which he was greeted with hostility and annoyance. After we finally got our food it was all wrong!!!! Plain burgers served with all the fixins etc... All of the other Johnny Rockets had old school dancing. Not this one! The management was completely disorganized especially the attitude coming from one woman named "Shalimar" Seriously could she have been more unprofessional??? The only good thing about this place was the server who according to his name tag was "Steven" I hope he moves on to bigger and better places. Meanwhile try to avoid this establishment unless you have over an hour to spend on fast food... Pros: Service Cons: Everything Else! more

Fantastic Burgers, Great Scene, Awesome spot to watch sports 2/3/2010

I have been to Johnny Rockets all over the USA from the Short Hills Mall to Miami... finally I got to check out a Johnny Rockets with a twist... take the classic Johnny Rocket's 1950's theme, add more space, a second level, flat screen TV's, lots of alcohol and beer, really cool people to hang with and amazing energy! Johnny Rockets Restaurants & Sports Lounge is great for families for dinner and a late night snack for the upper east side crowd to fantastic happy hour or the new hot spot to watch football. I went with a few friends and we had a blast chatting up the locals of the Upper East Side. I can't wait to go back on Sunday for the next game! Thank you Johnny Rockets for coming to the neighborhood! Pros: Really Great Space, Classic JR's Food with Alcohol & Sports! more

Booze and Burgers: The New Johnny Rockets 2/1/2010

The food was very standard and nothing to rave about it, but it did the trick of filling us up with greasy, fried food. And really, that's what you're looking for when you head to a bar or diner. It's nice how they separate the family-friendly part of the restaurant from the sports lounge on the two different floors, but it wasn't a place I'd seek out for a drink or meal. However, there aren't a ton of bars in that neck of the woods and with the movie theater and Dangerfield's near-by, it could be a welcome addition to the families and young professionals living in the area looking for a place to hit up pre- or post- movie/show. i've been to this johnny rockets several times now, and without fail, the managers, wait staff, and bartenders always greet you with a smile and make you feel incredibly welcome. you will often find the owners milling around, making sure that everything is running smoothly. they are attentive, reliable, deliver excellent service, and anticipate your needs from the beginning of your experience to the end. the food is always fresh, made to order, and delicious. i especially love the sports bar upstairs, where you can view several different sporting events on their excellent collection of state-of-the-art TVs. there's plenty of comfortable seating, and the energy is lively and fun, with a nice diverse mix of people. it's a terrific place to meet friends or bring family for the big game, or after an evening at the movies, or a day of shopping, or for an after-dinner drink. i highly recommend it! I was pleased to read this article about a JR's Sports Lounge and all it has to offer. But thought I had to correct the "1st" comment. I work at the 1st JR's sports lounge in the country, in Queensbury,NY. We have 22 flat screens, the NFL ticket, a GREAT staff and ambiance. So when you visit the Lake George area, stop in and see us at the 1st and largest JR's sports lounge in the country !! Upper East Side Phenomenon--Sports Bar & Burgers!! 1/5/2010

Ive been to Johnny Rockets before, but this Johnny Rockets is like no other--it's Johnny Rockets but with an incredible sports lounge and full bar! The second floor sports lounge is absolutely beautiful with these super comfy couches and flat screens everywhere (the more peyton manning, the better!) The service is unbeatable and i actually met the owner who was going around talking to the customers. This Johnny Rockets is actually the very first in the country to have a sports lounge!!!! FLAWLESS!!!! In my eyes, there is nothing better than NFL and hamburgers!!!! They also stay open AND serve food until 4:00AM on weekends!!! It is on 1st Ave and 62nd street....if you love booze, sports and burgers, you have to check it out!! Pros: Monday Night Football and awesome burgers Cons: NONE more

Sports Lounge at Johnny Rockets!! AWESOME 12/29/2009

I have always enjoyed the fun ambiance and food at johnny rocket's, but I have to say this is one of the best! The staff and service are amaZing! The food is great and their milk shakes, yum! But what really makes this place stand out is the lounge/sports bar on the 2nd floor which is done really nicely. It's a great place to go after work and just kick back or tune in to your favorite sports game.. This place is definitely the new hot spot. I give it two thumbs up Pros: Awesome sports lounge!!!
