When my husband and I began the process of buying our home we assumed that we could get along on our own. When it became apparent that our inexperience was going to hurt us, we turned to Jennifer Venable, and luckily we got more than we had hoped for. The shortsale we were offering was dead in the water multiple times, and yet somehow Jennifer's incredible resiliance and aptitude brought it back to life. She fought harder than I've ever seen a person fight and worked harder and longer hours than she needed to in order to get our deal done. All in all, with the magnificent workings of both she and Michael Neef (Big River Mortgage) we went from contract signing to closing in a matter of a few weeks. Our experience with Jennifer just goes to show why realtors are important: when it's time to go to bat, you need a pro who can knock it out of the park. When we bought our second house in Portland, our original agent had moved, so we went with an agent recommended by a friend. It was the best decision we made in the home buying process. Vickie Brooks with John L. Scott really went the extra mile for us. She was patient with us and spent so much time with us. Much of the time we had our 3 kids with us, including a newborn. The home buying market was so intense at that time and we pretty much had hours to make an offer on any home we were interested in, and homes usually stayed on the market for a few days. When we found the house we wanted, it was at the top of our price range and we were sure that there would be plenty of offers and that we would not get the house. Well, there were plenty of offers, but the sellers accepted OUR offer. Why?? Our Realtor, Vickie Brooks wrote a letter with a profile of our family, and the couple selling the house really thought we would fit into the neighborhood because of that family profile. Vickie Brooks keeps in touch with us in wonderful and fun ways. She sent us 2 cent stamps when the postage rate was raised so we wouldn't have to run out to the post office. She brought over a cute little gift bag on the 4th of July with sparklers for the kids and other fun things. I have been waiting to find someone who is looking for a Realtor so I could recommend her. She is absolutely wonderful. more
