Small zoo with big fun!! 12/21/2005

The John Ball Zoo is small but packs a lot of fun for the kids. I have been going to John Ball Zoo since I was a toddler and still enjoy it. My son enjoys the reptile house, while my daughter is fascinated by the petting zoo. The admission is quite inexpensive, but the food and gift shop are a bit pricey. The zoo does not have as many animals as it used to but there are still plenty of fun things to do, I suggest a ride on the camel!! more

Fun Zoo ! 9/15/2005

We loved our recent visit to John Ball Park Zoo. They have a large variety of animals for the children to see. They have a nice picnic area in which to take your picnic lunch. It's clean and it's close to home. We try to go at least twice a season because its just an enjoyable day for all of us! more

I like it 8/31/2005

Over the years the zoo has undergone many changes. It has grown, and new animals have been placed there. They seem to be updating it bit by bit, and the new penguin house is a blast. I like it almost as much as the Anchorage zoo, as I grew up with it. more

Only worth it when it's free. 8/20/2005

The John Ball Park Zoo always seems to be a little rundown & never has all the "advertised" animals to view out. You probably get a good look at an animal for every two or three exhibits you pass. Personally I would not recommend going to this zoo unless it's free. They always offer free admission before a certain date of the year. For being free, I think it is a wonderful entertaining outing, especially with all the inside exhibits to stay out of the cold. I went on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend this past year and I definitely had a lot of fun. I wouldn't have had as much fun if I would've had to fork over cash though. more

John Ball Zoo! 8/16/2005

This is a great place to go for a nice day out with the kids. It is just the right size to spend a couple hours and get out of the house. This year they have an Australian Exhibit and one of the Wallaby likes to jump over the fence and hop around by the zoo visitors. We actually got to pet one last week! (For a second anyways!) They have a petting zoo for the kids as well and do not worry, they have purell dispensers everywhere. Of course as you leave, don't forget to pile up by the gigantic statue of John Ball himself for a picture! more

A Day At the Zoo 8/14/2005

John Ball Zoo is a great place to spend an afternoon with your kids! There are lots of fun animals to see - my son loves the monkeys best! The petting zoo is a must see - kids can touch goats, cows, and chickens. This summer's Austraila exhibit is cool (loved the wallabys) but the cardboard koalas in the trees are kind of hokey. The zoo is inexpensive, and the yearly pass is a particularly great deal! more
