Best

I have tried Pat's and Geno's, and let me tell you...they are JUNK compared to Jim's!!! Even with the traffic of South Street and hunt for a parking spot do not stop us from g...

Worst

To tell you the truth, I can't really tell the difference between Pat's, Geno's, Jim's, whoever's cheese steaks... but, I do know that the two times I went to Jim's I came out of ...

""The Cheesesteak Nazi"" 8/8/2002

My sisters and I loved this fun little cheesesteak joint. We also found the people working there can be compared to the Soup Nazi on Sienfeld. Their steaks are so good they deserve to be a little proud. Just know what you want and how you are going to order ahead of time. :) Pros: inexpensibe, yummy Cons: crowded more

very tasty 8/8/2002

Jim's steaks are the best; very lean steak! Great with shrooms and whiz and of course...ketchup! more

The BEST!!! 8/8/2002

The absolute best cheesesteaks on the planet - forget PAT's & Geno's - JIM's beats them hands down. more

Big Philly Style 8/7/2002

By far the best cheesesteak around. Not greasy so it won't sit in your stomach like a big lead weight an hour after consumption. You really gotta love the ambiance too. Don't expect fancy here, expect tradition. Pros: great value, real Philly style, great location Cons: parking is so-so more

Awesome 8/7/2002

There is no other place to go in the city to get a cheesesteak quite like the ones you get at Jim's. more

Top of the Line 7/31/2002

Only had Jim's steaks 2x but they were great. My son treated me to my first Jim steak and was it a real treat! Just wish we had one a little closer to where I live. more

South Philly Cheesesteak Queen 7/31/2002

I've eaten cheesesteaks everywhere. Grew up 2 blocks from Geno;s & Pat's. However, Jim's are the best! 1st of all because its shredded to perfection & has little fat on the meat. When you order, you do not need a specific ""lingo"" to place an order (even thought I know the lingo thoroughly). Pros: food, upstairs Cons: very crowded more

excellent 7/26/2002

This steak joint is by far the absolute best in Philly, hands down. They've got an awesome location, and best tasting, fully-loaded steaks. Pros: great location more

Nothng better 7/25/2002

Maybe it's the ""soup nazi"" appeal or maybe it's just the best combination of a roll, steak and cheese to be found anywhere. It makes me glad to be from Philly! Pros: Taste buds love it, good prices, consistency Cons: no parking, no seating if crowded more

A real philly cheesesteak! 7/23/2002

I have tried many cheesesteak places, even Pat's, which has a bigger reputation and this is much better than any others. Pros: great food Cons: cleanliness more

Tasty Steaks 7/23/2002

One great thing about Jim's Steaks is that they are open late & close to where I work. I work weekends & it's conveniently located not too far from there and again, their open late & their steaks taste great! Pros: Tasty Cheesesteaks, Open Late, Close to where I work Cons: Can't phone ahead, crowded/long lines more

The Best in town! 7/23/2002

If you're in South Street, Jim's is the place to have a good cheesesteak! Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Crowded more

yum 7/23/2002

Some places have great steak but stale bread and vice versa...but Jim's has the great steak and fresh bread. Can't go wrong with that! more

The Best Cheesesteak 7/23/2002

Jim's by far has the best cheesesteaks.. The wait may be long, but it is well worth it (and a lot closer than South Philly). more

THE BEST 7/16/2002

The steak sandwiches at Jim's are the best I've ever had. The meat is excellent quality and the bread is soft and delicious. Thinking about eating another one of their sandwiches makes my mouth water. more

Road Trip 7/12/2002

106 miles to philly, full tank a gas, half empty stomach and ill be wearin a bib! This weekend I am driving 2 1/2 hours to Philly just for a Jim's Cheesesteak. I have yet to go to philly and not have one of those deeeelightful concoctions. ...My cheesesteak has a first name ........ more

highly overrated 6/13/2002

I once waited in line for more than 30 minutes only to be treated rudely by the help, and then to receive the WORST cheesesteak I have ever had in Philly. Absolutely flavorless and without any merit compared to other great spots in the area. If the steak had been good I could have overlooked the shabby service, but alas.. Cons: crowded, flavorless, hype more
