Jet Funn

We had couple of out of town family members staying with us and we decided to look into renting a boat. Jet Funn was a bout 30 minutes from us, right off route 12 in Fox Lake. We went out on a Saturday, 8 of us in all inluding my in-laws. We called for a reservation (the day before) and were able to get in, and advised to take a pontoon boat.\r \r We got there about 10am and had a little picnic with the kids, there is a park and sand volley ball courts down the street, my father in-law managed his way to the bar two doors down. My brother and I ended up renting wave runners for an hour before we went on the boat and it was a blast! I had never been on one before and will do it again real soon -intense!\r \r We went out on the pontoon boat and headed north, there were quite a few boats out, but we just kind of went along and enjoyed the day. There was a lot out there to my surprise, we found a sand bar where everyone was swimming and we stayed there for a little while so the kids could swim, on the way back we stopped at El Puerto's (Great Food!) and had some of the best chips and salsa ever, the Magaritas and Jack and Coke (GrandPa) were flowing. \r \r We had a great time and I would do it again. We rented th boat for 4 hours, that was nice, but next time - I think w will leave the in-laws at home and do the full 8 hours, it was really beautiful and we did not cover that much of it.\r \r I recommend Jet Funn to anyone looking for a boat rental (they have pontoons, power and deck boats) or waverunners, El Puerto's for great food and a great view! A few friends and myself rented a speed boat. All was going great, we inspected the boat and everything looked great. Sure enough, we get back to find out, like everyone else who had damage found, it was the prop. Doesnt it all seem a little ironic the same thing keeps breaking? This company is really shady. I told my step dad who used to work on boats for a living what Kevin Lynch had told us was wrong, he said it should be about $100 to fix. How much did we pay? Close to $1,300 because later on after we left he found more wrong, plus labor. And he couldn't even show us the part that was broken so we could see it. I do not recommend this place to anyone unless you want to get ripped off big time. Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

Not being a ""boater"" but having rented boats from other renters with not a single incident for the last 12 to 15 years I did not pay enough attention I should have paid to the ""lecture"" about the propeller damage the renters at JET FUNN gave us before we signed the papers. They had a ""damaged"" propeller on display with price tags ranging from $40 to $240. To my inexperienced eye what they called unrepairable was repairable with a hammer in a matter of 2 to3 minutes.\r
\r After finally letting us to the boat they showed us around. The propeller was perfectly painted in black as if it was just installed. I joked that the center nut color did not match, but the joke was not appreciated by the ""stuff"" member.\r
\r We were very careful following the map, did not run into anything while using the boat as far as we were able to tell, and still after we returned back they claimed that the propeller sustained an ""unrepairable damage"" and needed to be replaced.\r
\r They charged us extra $165 for the ""damaged"" propeller.\r
\r We rented a tube from them for $32, it appeared that we were supposed to buy a rope from them for $15.\r
\r As a result: 4 hours rental -- $280 + tube -- $47 + gas -- $60 + ""damaged"" propeller -- $165 costed us $552.\r
\r The absolute highest we paid before on the same lake was $360 with gas, and we thought it was high...\r

the price seemed decent when we first got there. They tell you casually to inspect the boat for damage, and lightly mention to check out the ""prop"". Us, not being boaters, we didn't even know what to look for.\r \r When we came back, they said our propeller had damage, but was ""repairable"". By damage, it was a pain chip here and there....normal wear and tear. We were really careful with the deck boat, and didn't go into shallow waters. They claimed this damage was $90 worth. They barely could keep the boats straight, they thought we were boat C and tried to charge us there, turned out we were boat A. They charges us $100 for fuel.\r They also tried to say we lost a life jacket, and tried to charge us for that, even though all of us were wearing them when we came back. The people were extra rude, and it turned out again they got the boats mixed up and it was SOMEONE else that lost them. If we didn't put up a stink, they would have calmly charge us for that too.\r We rented a tube from them...which they said was $8...what they didn't mention is they charge EXTRA for the rope.\r \r The people that work there are RUDE and yell and swear at you when you try to argue the charges. EVERYONE coming in had ""prop damage"". They don't bother taking it off to repair it...they just leave it on the boat for the next renter to get charged.\r \r we would NEVER rent there again and advise everyone else stay away at all costs!!!!! We were pleasantly surprised with the courtesy of the staff and time they spent with us to understand what we were doing. We had never rented a boat before and I was sceptical. We went out for a half day with a deck boat. It was the best fun ever and you could not even tell we did not know what we were doing. It was a blast, the kids did not complain once! We will definetly be back for more fun this summer. We did not have a reservation, but they do recommend in the summer months that we do. Staff was very friendly, boat was great, water was nice - (not for swimming), price was fair - we will be back! Pros: great staff, great boat, great fun - Thank you Jet Funn! I invited a group of friends to rent a boat at Jet Funn for the day this past weekend, we had 8 all together. We rented a boat and headed out on the water, there was a good a crowd out there and a lot of bikinis. We ended up going bar hopping around 2 pm. We were surprised at how much there was to do on the chain - I do not think we covered half of the upper and we never made it to the dam. We had a map, bu? We returned with one sober driver and a couple of extra passengers. We split it between the 7 of us (we paid the drivers share) and it was still under $80 per person! We will back to cover more of the chain this summer, or we had so much fun, maybe we will continue on the same path to see how far we can make it? The staff was very friendly, polite and helpful. My family and I went out last weekend for Memorial Day. We rented a pontoon boat for four hours and two waive runners for two hours. the staff was very friendly and polite. We had not made a resvervation so we were not sure we were going to be able to accomodate us but the staff was quick and eager to get us to the water. There were a few boats as expected to be on a nice holiday weekend, no one got sea sick though. We stopped and had lunch on the water. It was a great weekend and the family had a lot of fun. We will be back again and will tell all our friends about the time we had. Thank you again. Pros: A+, affordable, friendly knowledgeable staff, great boats and waive runners!!! Cons: None! more

We also had similar experience. We rented a boat from Jet Funn and drove it casually, nothing crazy and obey all rules of the water. We had such a great time until we turned our boat in. The got us for 85 extra dollars claiming there was prop damage. To us it looked like the paint had just worn off the prop, which to me would seem normal wear and tear, but to them it was damage and there was no talking to them about the matter. Please save your money and do not rent from these people, they are all nice sending you out but when you get back they are rude and money hungry. more

I have been a boater for 20 yrs mostly on lake stclair/lake erie/huron I rented out a boat from this establishment,I have owned a 30ft twin screw prior,We went over the boat to mark for damages,and inspected the prop,which was recond when i rented this craft for the afternoon for 4 hrs,when I returned it back they charged me 48.00 for a prop saying there was a slight indent on the edge of the blade,They determined I damaged it,THIS IS Normal wear and tearTh e prop still could have been reused And still looked new when returned,They showed what a prop of different damages and what it would cost,and trust me what they showed and What I got pinched for was pathetic,I believe it to be a pratice of this establisnment to charge people of this everty time they rent a boat,I would never consider this facility and also sent a compalint to the attorney generals office and have post my displeasure with great lakes boating magazine and several yacht clubs,,,DONT RENT FROM THEM!!! more
