I have been to Jax to celebrate some special life events and anniversaries and they have never let me down. Service is always wonderful, it is always perfectly clean and elegant....

Lovely place, but so overrated!! 3/24/2006

I love Jax for the ambience if nothing else. Great place, a bit dark, but the food is absolutely average and much too overpriced. If you'd like better food, there are plenty of choices in downtown Minneapolis and the suburbs that won't leave you feeling as if you were robbed of a fabulous dining experience. Cold Food Inferior Service 1/18/2006

This used to be a great place for the special occasion. I took my mother for a birthday dinner and the food was cold the service was very bad. The waitress was very sloppy. This place has surely gone down hill. Pros: Decor, Parking Cons: Service, Food Quality more

Three Generations of Excellence 3/22/2004

My Grandfather was a frequent patron in the late 1930's. My Parents often dined at Jax's, so often that the owners became close friends. And I must admit I continue the tradition. But what is more important... Jax has continued to be a fine dining experience. The steaks, seasoned with Jax's seasonong, are excellent. Their brunches are fabulous with more options than most buffets. Their wine list is adequate and the service has always been excellent. Add to this their wonderful surroundings and how can you do any better? Pros: Good Parking, Good Food, Great Atmosphere more

AMAZING!!!!!!! 3/11/2004

My boyfriend and I made reservations for Jax Cafe 2/14/04, as a last resort. This ended up being the best place! We enjoyed the warm atmosphere, the excellent service, and where do I begin about the food?!? I was in heaven with my prime rib! Very delicious! This made for a very memorable holiday! When making a reservation, request an outside table. Not only is the atmosphere beautiful, but you also wont have to deal with the traffic of fellow diners bustling past your table on their way to the buffet. A great place to take kids. Pros: great food more

Nice, but overpriced 3/1/2003

My partner and I went here for Valentine's Day dinner. The service was superb and the food was nice, but way overpriced for what it was. The steak and lobster was good but the potatoes were undercooked and crunchy and the butter for the lobster was served without anything to continually keep it warm, so it it turned cold and solidified quickly. We spent $250.00 on two meals. For that price, I could have gotten higher quality food in Minneapolis. Pros: romantic, quick service, great parking Cons: overpriced more

I love this place! 1/13/2003

This is one of the best restuarants I have ever been to. I go to it for all special occasions. It is so beautiful in the back yard. The trout stream and park benches add to the beauty in the back yard. Sunday brunch is the greatest at Jax Cafe. They have so much to choose from adn they even have a piano player. more

I have eaten in many of the steak houses around the Minneapolis St Paul area and no matter how hard you try you will never be sorry that you went to Jax. The Porterhouse at around $35.00 is the best deal I've found for a ""great steak"". Pros: Great Menu, easy parking, short wait w/o reserv more

Jax has a way to make every guest feel very special from the moment you step foot in the restaurant. The steak is superb and the desserts are not to be missed. A wonderful location to celebrate a special occasion, especially if you can be seated on their beautiful patio. more

Great restaurant. However don't sit outside. The waterfall is so loud makes it difficult to hold a conversation. Also there is a funky smell out there. The food is wonderful more

Jax has become our family's place to celebrate just about anything; I can't say enough good things about it. From the first time we went there, we loved the piano music, the warm wood-toned atmosphere, the superb service, and the wonderful food. It really has the feeling of a family-owned place that's been around a long time. The patio seating is beautiful, by the way; you completely forget you're in the middle of the city. Fish swim in the little stream that runs through and I love to feed them bits of my roll. The wine list is very good. I love the crab-stuffed mushroom appetizers. We've never been disappointed with a meal there. And if you have a special occasion, they give you little commemorative matchbooks. Great place! Pros: Great food, Great service, Great atmosphere Cons: It's not cheap more

It's nice to go to a good restaurant outside of the downtown/uptown area. Northeast Minneapolis has a lot of great restaurants and bars including Jax Cafe. Plus they've got an area you can reserve for parties. Give it a try. more

Beer and a bite 5/21/2002

Jax is a great place to have a beer and a bite to eat. Classic long wood bar that always has sports on the t.v. Great place to go during Gopher basketball season as you are surrounded by fans just like you. Highly recommend it. more
