Walked in, had a problem with some used boots(not purch there), and taylor gave his honest opinion of them and their fit.....not good. Purchased new boots for my girlfriend and myself, had them custom-fitted by Taylor, and they feel great!!!!! My girlfriend was skeptical, since hers felt too tight, but on Taylors advice, she waited till the swelling from the old/used boots went down, and now, they fit great also. I will be stopping at Java Summit this Sunday to pick up my new skis (tuned and set-up by Taylor) and I am sure I will be just as happy with them as I am with the boots. By the way.....he saved me over a $100 from the ritzy store in Marin who originally demo-ed me the wrong size boot. And saved me $80 on the ski purchase, too. Thanks, bro. Hope you have some ski-poles, I need them too. JB more

Hello, This posting is in response to the March 2008 customer review of my shop. I am pleased to say that 99.9% of my customers leave happy and return to exhaust more of my expertise. This person had come to me with complaints about another ski shop and decided to try my shop for the first time. They had stated they had spent a vast amount of money, when in fact they had asked me for a discount boot that was four seasons old that I sold at a wholesale discount. (didn't make our money back.) This person also had a free coffee while they were having their boots fit to them. I tried to send back the liner for said boot at my expense, companies are not too excited about warranties of an age over two year's old. I asked my personal rep from the company to make an exception, to no avail. It appears that my efforts have gone unappreciated. I tried to call the angry customer about this but they never left a proper number on our message machine. I run a respectable family business that prides itself on how we are viewed by our customers and the public. I guarantee my fit for a boot and I welcome any sort of action this person would like to take including that they come into the shop to discuss this unfortunate situation. I have spent my whole life on ski's and am considered one of the best boot fitters in the country with a guarantee that you will spend no extra funds for fitting after the sale. So I invite anyone who has read these postings to try Java Summit Sports. If you mention this posting you will receive one free coffee of your choice and size. I thank you for your time, and listening to bantering from a person who has no business making false statements online. If you are reading this customer X, I urge you to contact me about your situation. . Taylor Walker Owner\Operator SKIER COACH BOOTFITTER TUNER. more

Unprofessional and Unreliable Customer Service 3/14/2008

I was hoping for a good experience with the new owner, Taylor Walker, to fix a defective pair of boot liners purchased at Java Summit. The short version of my experience is this: He told me I needed to purchase an expensive pair of boots to make the liners work properly, which I did. He said he sent the liners back to the manufacturer for warranty service. This was a bald-faced lie. The manufacturer has told me that they have received nothing from Java Summit. Taylor will not return my calls. After two months of trying to resolve this informally, he has over $600 of my money for new boots, and my defective $200 liners are sitting somewhere in his shop, which prevents me from getting warranty service. I have generally found ski shop owners to provide wonderful customer service, but this kid lacks the responsibility and integrity to perform as a professional. Next step: legal action. My advice: Don't shop here unless you're willing to kiss your money goodbye. more
