Loretta DeBrule is my woman in shining armor! I like to change my style more frequently than most and she never hesitates partner with me in creating a dynamic style. I get tons of compliments on my hair and most importantly, I TRUST HER! She has an awesome sense of humor too which makes me so excited for my next hair appointment. She simply does great work! Her new location is perfect too as there is easy street parking and great bars and restaurants nearby too when you want to show off your new hair to the world. Loretta deBrule always does a terrific job with my curly hair -- giving me a consistently good cut and natural looking highlights, along with artfully coloring my gray hairs! Jaujou Studio consistently gives me the best head I've ever had. \r \r I've gotten cuts & color from three of the stylists there, and they have all been hot, unique, and easy to maintain. Random strangers compliment me on my hair at least twice a month. When they did my color for Burning Man, they really put some stank upon me. I was the prettiest freak on the playa. Highly recommended, a delightful salon experience, well worth the money. \r \r Oh, and despite a few of the negative reviews here, I've never ever seen the staff act unprofessionally. I had finally found a fantastic stylist in Tiffany, she really went all out in pleasing you. I plan on following her to her new studio. The one thing that had really bothered me in my trips to Jaujou Studio these last two years was the owner Daniel JauJou. He was as cold as a fish. Being an owner you would think that he would greet each customer with a smile and at least a ""Hello"". Not him, he acted like he was always in a bad mood. I am glad to be able to now experience a new studio following Tiffany. Daniel try treating each of your customers who enter your studio with grace. I have been going to the same hairstylist for five years now, so you can understand my hesitation to stray from him...but when I found Tiffany, all doubts were set aside. She always makes sure to make you feel beautiful and welcome. Even if I'm short of ideas with what I want to do with my hair, she comes up with the most amazing haircut I've ever seen! The girl is talented! You want to talk about color? This girl will make it happen, and make sure you look your best. It doesn't matter if you are suffering from a bad dye job from a previous salon, you will leave the salon and get more compliments than you've ever had. \r \r The best part is the experience itself. She makes you feel at home and truly listens to what kind of look you are going for. I had quit my stylist in SF, because it was so expensive and such a hassel.. So I called Daniel who is the owner at Jau Jou..\r \r I walked in with desperation, my hair originally Blonde, but decided to turn it red, the turned faded scary red.... \r My stylists name is Mele Alberta, she is not only a perfectionist, but extremely entertaining.. I walked out with my hair fully corrected (which is unbelievable RED TO BLONDE) She had spent 4-5 hours to make it perfect. Assuming if a client of hers walked out less than perfect she would most likely have nightmares of split ends and bad colors.. So you can expect great service, not to mention a great vibe inside the studio with stylists dancing,singing, joking together.. I decided today was the day to try to find a local salon that had a stylist unafraid of natural curl who could shape my mop. After the last disasterous cut it took 6 months to grow out.. Desperate I walked in to Jaujou Studio. Great vibe, freindly faces to greet me. I feel LUCKY to have landed in Alise's chair. She took the time to notice things about my hair that make you feel understood instead of shunned because your hair isnt the perfect pallet to create SHOW hair.\r With over 25 years in the business she seems to have learned plenty. The cut was like nothing I had experienced before, she did it dry and had a very zen approach to shaping it. Not only did she give me a great cut but she also educated me on how to be more accepting of my beautiful mane and let me know its uniqness is what makes me unusual in todays flat ironed no personality hair. Her more organic approach to hair is so refreshing. I have told many a friend and am looking forward to another cut in a few months (PSST... she gives $25 to your next service every time a friend lands in her chair, with as much as I have raved to all that will listen my next cut will be free!!) She is kinda a freelance stylist and is in varous locations, but stays close to home in oakland on tuesdays, wednesdays.Check her out, you wont be dissapointed!! Pros: expert attention. Just came back from Jaujou Studio, where I had my first appointment with Jocelyn. I was very nervous about cutting my hair from (quite) long to medium (kind of a bob), so I brought a few pictures with me and I had a long conversation with her before proceeding with the cut. She was very nice and she listened patiently and carefully to me (and I am not a native speaker, so I guess it was quite difficult for her to get a full understanding of what I wanted and what I didn't want). At the very end, she made a GREAT cut, very close to the picture we choose, easy to carry and to style. I will absolutely go back to Jaujou Studio and to Jocelyn in particular! \r Just an advice: if you want both cut and color, make sure you make a long appointment: today, there was not enough time to color my hair, since I didn't ask for color from the beginning. In this case too, however, Jocelyn was extremely nice to me and she gave me useful advices regarding the color I will make in the next future. And don't feel shy about asking for prices: nobody will make you feel bad even if you cannot spend too much (by the way, I paid 60$ plus tip for my cut).\r Reading the other reviews helped me to make this choice: now, I can absolutely confirm that the wonderful things most people said about Jaujou and Jocelyn are true!\r Pros: Very professional and friendly stylist more

I saw the great ratings for Jaujou and was very excited to go for a haircut. Unfortunately, my experience did not live up to my expectations. I had a haircut from Mele and she was quite unpleasant. She had a huge attitude -- she actually said ""I am an artist, and I can only give haircuts that fit my vision"". Her artistic vision does not seem to include long hair, so beware unless you want really short hair. She clearly does not know how to cut curly hair either. The only nice part about the haircut was the Bumble and Bumble hair products. more

I can not say enough about Brian Blakely! I just received the most amazing cut and color from Brian. He really listened to what I wanted and it succeeded my expectations! Mele colors my hair and I can't say enough good things about it. I have to carry her card around because people ask me about who does my color almost every day (I give out more of her business cards than my own!). You will not be disappointed - she has also cut many of my friends hair which all look wonderful as well. And as she would say with no need to be modest, she rocks the short hair. My hair is frizzy, unruly, and difficult to style. I?ve been to many salons that care more about getting me out the door quickly rather than taking care of my hair. I decided to go to Jaujou because of the good reviews the place received but I honestly wasn?t expecting much. I made an appointment with Tiffany and prepared for the worst. I showed her a picture of the color I wanted and she got it exactly right?and I mean exactly. She took the time to make sure she knew what I wanted before she began. I spent nearly 3 hours there and I never felt like I was being rushed. Tiffany also gave me great tips for taking care of my hair and making it less frizzy. I?ve followed her advice and my hair is now beautiful and silky soft. People often comment on the difference. The salon itself has a relaxing atmosphere and wonderful people. Jaujou lives up to the fuss. I've been waiting to go there ever since I've read all the reviews about how great this salon is -I went. I had an appointment with Jocelyn (she seemed to be the star stylist of this site) and it turned out SPECTACULAR! She spent well over an hour cutting my hair granted I am a guy. I usually get 1/2 assed hair cuts from other salons that have me out within 15-20 minutes. She literally spent all her time paying attention to every detail of my hair as she cut. She tried different strategies out and just did an amazing job. I am so happy with the results. Please go there and get a cut from Jocelyn (or any other of the stylists). You won't be dissapointed! I have gone back and forth on this salon and I have to tell you, I tucked my tail between my legs and crawled back. After about a year of ""cheating"" on my hairstylist Jocelyn, I came back. Why? Because I have never had such a damn good hair cutter. Jocelyn works magic with her scissors and my hair could no longer take so so cuts... it missed her. She also does great color and takes into consideration your lifestyle, not just the fact that you want superstar hair (when I had long hair and told her I wanted Jessica Simpson hair she said I would have to blowdry and curl everyday if that was what I wanted - well, darn it... I guess thats just not gonna be my hair because I am a lazy girl when it comes to beauty!)... she works your hair around the way you live. I've been getting my hair done by Mele for the last 6 months and I absolutely love her. She took my curly, unruly, over-highlighted hair and turned into into something I get compliments on every time I walk out of the house. She does an awesome job on the color and cut and does so at reasonable prices. The salon is modern and clean and I they even give you tea, wine and snacks while you're there.
