Japanese Restaurant Masamune

I finally ventured over to this place for my sushi date last night! I heard lots of rave reviews from friends that are locals about this place being super good and fresh. The ambiance inside was definitely lacking and was extremely basic and boring for a sushi restaurant. However I'm not eating the restaurant!\r We started our meal off with an order of their rock shrimp. They arrived to the table in a nice presentation, were lightly battered in a tempura, and were tossed in spicy mayo with a nice kick. Definitely one of the best I've had.\r I opted for their "piano" roll for dinner. My only gripe is that since my date & I both ordered sushi, they put both of our rolls on ONE plate assuming that you want to share. Okay? And how am I supposed to move my rolls without forks, on my own plate to eat? Not everyone is a super expert with chopsticks so it was kind of a mess! The roll was very good, fresh bay scallops tossed in spicy sauce and cascading over the top of my california roll. My date really enjoyed his food too.\r The service here was super nice, concerned, and attentive. I was very impressed by Aaron I believe his name was. Super sweet, nice guy so definitely ask for him if you go.\r Overall it was a really nice enjoyable first experience. The food is very standard basic sushi though. So if you are looking for good basic sushi with no extra frills, and very bare basic yet intimate ambiance this is the place. more

I typically come to this Japanese restaurant for lunch. I usually get the tasty shrimp tempura bento box that comes with sushi, miso soup, salad, etc..such a GREAT DEAL!! I also usually get their refreshing iced green tea. more

I love love love this place. I am a local and a weekly diner at Masamune!! The fish is always delicious and very fresh. I would suggest sitting at the sushi bar. The Sushi chefs have great personalities and are very welcoming. Warning if they suggest something to you they will charge you very heavy for it so be careful with that. more

Miso was awesome. Sushi was not the best I've ever had, but it was definitely the best I've had in South Florida. Check it out. more

Consistently good sushi. Heart of Japan roll is my fav. Everything very fresh. Service is ok. Very small inside. I think the best seats are at the sushi bar. Pretty fair prices. Our first choice for sushi in Deerfield Beach. more

I have been going to this restaurant for a little over 7 years now and I am obsessed with this restaraunt. The service and food are great, if you don't see a roll you like they will make you your own special roll if you tell them what you like. The spicy tofu is the best! more

This place is amazing! They have a great staff there that takes care of you and cares, as well as having AMAZING sushi and food!!! I recommend it to anyone, I go there at least once a week. more

Chicken tempura & katsu was wonderful. Miso was funky. Cheap little desserts were tasty. Service and atmosphere were great! more

I have been a customer for 5 years. I used to say this place was excellent, the quality of the food and service has declined. The sushi chefs and the host are very friendly. But every visit has been spoiled for months now, due to a variety of problems. On a Monday night, I waited half an hour for my food while other tables who arrived after I ordered were served first. The waitresses who have worked there a long time never smile. Is something wrong? more

Weak. If you are new to sushi you will do alright here. But if you are not you will definitely be disappointed. Especially with all the fishing that goes on down here you'd think the sushi would be perfect. Not so. more

Great little place that has stood the test of time. The staff is always very friendly and they will even make things differently if requested. Food is always good. Never had a bad piece of fish. Always have the sushi or sashimi. Great lunch specials too. more
