Let me start by saying that I have been eating at Jade Island for years and have found both their Japanese and Chinese cuisine to be above average. This is why I find the condescending treatment I recently received so disturbing.\r
I ordered sushi and sashimi for 2 for my wife and I on Valentine’s Day and the tuna was spoiled. Hey, things happen in the restaurant biz, I understand; I used to be a professional chef myself. This is not the problem. The problem is, when I called to tell them, I was treated condescendingly and told that I had not handled the product properly and was the one responsible for the spoilage. I have been eating, handling (and making my own sushi and sashimi) for over 25 years. As I said, I cooked professionally – I know how to handle raw fish. Long story short: $62 worth of sushi and sashimi went into the garbage disposal and I was not offered a refund or even a perfunctory $25 gift certificate.\r
Jade Island has just lost a long time customer. \r
