I'm sure the hostess was doing the best she could under the circumstances. Jack Astor's is closing on July 30 anyway. Too bad. It used to be a fun place to eat. RIP more

First of all , I can speak on the food because we didnt make it that far , but the front service was HORRIBLE . A group of seven of us arrived for a birthday dinner .. we were told the wait would be thirty minutes ... we could have decided to go somewhere else , but we had planned this decided to stick it out . After seeing numerous parties of five or eight or nine go in and be seated and wait 40 .. yes , 40 minutes one of us proceeded to ask if our table would be ready anytime soon ... we had a movie to get to in a hour and a half . One of the hostess then told us the table wasnt ready or close to being ready and we asked how was it a table of eight able to walk in and sit down ... her response was that they had eight people and not seven like us . forget that the fact we had been waiting for 40 minutes . we went next door to sweet tomatoes and had a fabulous meal ! more

This almost deserves five stars! Food was awesome! I had grilled meatloaf and my boyfriend had chicken tenders. Both delicious! After bringing me my food, it took a few minutes to get his (about 7 minutes??). That's why I'm only giving four stars. We ordered the fresh baked apple pie with vanilla ice cream (you have to order 20 min in advance). It was awesome! A little noisier than I expected but not enough to be bothersome. Definately a great place to watch the game. I've never seen so many TV's in a restaurant! more

Poor service 5/21/2010

Went there last Saturday night to enjoy a late meal. We were sitting in a non-smoking section but had to ask smokers to move several times. When we complained to the manager we discovered that the person smoking next to our table was the manager! Cons: Smokers in the smoking area more

50/50 3/2/2010

If you're sitting in the bar side the service can be quite terrible, if you do get a table though I have always had great service. The food is always hot and tastes pretty good. more

Great place, all around 6/2/2009

Jack Astors is a very cool place to go and eat outside or inside. The Far Side comics posted up all over are great to read while waiting, and the whole place has a funny and sarcastic thing going on. The food is good, I haven't had anything bad there yet. The drinks are good, and they have some unique Monster drinks for pretty good prices too. Outside seating is the best if you like it. Pros: Great atmosphere, food, and drinks more

Good food, decent service 2/5/2009

I ate here with a friend, and we had a good time. The salad dressing that i chose- a balsamic vinaigrette- seemed a little weird, but very tasty. Both of our meals were good, I had a chicken dish that was fresh and well-seasoned. My only complaint would be that the server seemed slightly disinterested, but it was for a late lunch, and he probably just wanted to go home- which I can completely understand! Overall, a very nice experience. more

Jack Astors bar and grill is Ahhhhhmazing. There wings are to die for and there burgers are out of this world!!!!!! Plus if you are a Lifetime Fitness member kids eat free!!!!!! The staff is very polite and hospitable!!! It is my family favorite resturant!!!!!! Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Great Bar / Restaurant 6/22/2008

This place is great. We had an excellent dinner with another couple then switched atmospheres to the bar area. Awesome music and cocktails. The bartenders were friendly and introduced themselves to us immediately. We'll be back to enjoy the different atmospheres. Pros: Atmosphere, service, great drinks more

We love the change in this place. The overall appearance is great. The food is really delicious and priced right. Most of the wait staff are accurate and pleasant. BUT the bar tenders are AWESOME with the speed of service, their personalities, they make you feel so welcome and comfortable. There are 2 guys and 2 girls that are just the BEST (you guys know who you are) and we look forward to seeing more of them. We are referring this place to all our friends. A group of about 8 of us decided to go to Jack Astors to watch the kick-off of the NCAA tournaments. We ran into a bit of confusion over a reservation and our table (that the manager had set aside) was mistakenly given to the wrong group. However, he more than corrected the error by putting the game of our choice on the primary big screen! It was very impressive. The restaurant and bar have a nice feel and a great menu. Our waiter was outstanding and both managers checked on us several times throughout the evening. Pros: Location, patio, service, bar area, food Cons: limited beer selection more

I recently went to Jack Astor's in Cary. I hadn't been there since they renovated and it looks great! The food and atmosphere was so much fun and I definitely want to go back! They have a lot of events coming up that the bartender was telling me and my friends about that sound like a lot of fun. I am definitely going to check them out and you should too! This place is really chill and fun. It has good food and a bunch of TVs. It isnt a smoky sports bar though, it is kind of more upscale but families were there too. A great time and great food. more

Wow'd 4/26/2005

Amazing expierience from start to finish. I was greeted promptly by a hostess that was actually opening the door for me as I entered. I was taken to a large booth were I was greeted by my serever immediately. I had to laugh when our server wrote his name upside down on our table, it was very amusing. The server offered us a Lobster and Crab dip, and we accepted. It was very creamy, and an excellent dish. We then tried the Parmeasean Bowties, and a 12 oz steak. Both were delightful. For dessest we tried the homemade apple pie. Need I say more? Great expierience. I will be back. Pros: food, entertainment, bar flair more
