We had a local move and Mr. Ladd and his employees were always courteous, accommodating and handled all of our belongings with care. We highly recommend their company and would use them again. more

I hired Ladd to move my piano in-town. They came when promised, they moved it without touching a single door jam or wall, and charged the price estimated via phone! My piano had the same sounding tune once moved as it had before which shows the care they used in moving the old Wurlitzer! Call these folks *first*!!! more

At the time of our move, in December, my wife was not at all well, and the trauma of leaving a house where we had lived for 45 years was affecting both of us. The team from Ladd's was so skilful and thoughtful, and displayed a degree of initative that went far beyond what I would have expected. I had heard such bad tales from other friends about their home-moving experiences that I had been dreading this one. But my fears were totally groundless. I really think it is impossible to hope to find any company better, more desirable for the job, than J.E.Ladd & Son. I am forever grateful to them for their friendliness and competence. When we were planning to move from Raleigh to Cary, a friend of ours highly recommended JE Ladd, though she was not sure they would come out to Raleigh since they are Durham based. I called them and Linda was very pleasant and Raleigh was not a problem. I called others as well to get an idea of the going rate and JE Ladd was very reasonable. Randy & Brian showed up on time and the move went absolutely smoothly. They were very curteous, polite and very easy to work with - anything we wanted done was exactly how it was done. And they were extremely careful moving the stuff. We have moved several times so we were dreading moving day like any good american but our worries were put to rest by these 3 awesome movers. They worked quickly but carefully. They took great care of our furniture. Not only were they hardworking (in extreme heat) but they were kind and helpful. Several times they held something while we swept the dust bunnies off the bottom of a heavy piece or cleaned a glass before they put it on the dresser. I cannot say enough good things about them and cannot think of a single complaint. These days that's a miracle. And the price was right! (Actually I think they deserve a raise.) \r A note to the wives of these 3 men: If you have never followed them around for a day - maybe you should. We had the absolute best moving experience with Ladd. We've used larger moving companies in the past, and we truly appreciated the personalized service we received from this small family-owned business. The movers were punctual, careful, fast, and efficient. They even went the extra mile by hooking up our washer and dryer in our new house. They wasted no time and damaged no items. Update: We used Ladd again for a local move, and once again, they didn't not let us down. They arrived on time and ready to go. They are attentive and cautious, and willing to go the extra mile. For instance, they fixed the frame on my bed that was bent out of shape. I really recommend them to anyone moving in NC. They got a little chatty with the gas company guy who was at the house, but to their credit, they did not take a single break the entire day!! These guys are just plain great. They moved us without incident. They were friendly and communicated everything they were going to do clearly which is half the battle with any mover. I called them 2 years ago when I needed to move, and the other reviewer is right! The woman that I spoke to initially was more than helpful, and to call the pricing ""reasonable"" is an understatement! The workers came when they said they would and got right to work. Quickly, efficiently, and pleasantly. The boxes were placedin the designated rooms as marked, and instead of just dropping my furniture in the room, they asked where and how I wanted it placed. If you need a good, friendly moving company at a fair price, these are your guys. Why did it take me so long to write this review? I don't ordinarily do web reviews, but I am about to move (again) and knowing that I would call them again, thinking back on the job they did for me, I just decided to let people know what a good service they provide. Prior to calling JE Ladd, I had spoken to almost a dozen moving companies and had grown quite frustrated with""everything they were going to do for me"" which seemed to translate to taking up time and charging me more money. Then I called JE Ladd. When I told them I was only moving a block away - they actually gave me recomendations of things I could do to save myself money! The women I spoke to on the phone literally said ""moving is expensive - you can save yourself alot of money if you move some of the boxes yourself"". There were many additional instances of putting my needs and best interests first during the move. The guys were very nice and friendly and obviously enjoyed what they did and working together. When the cable guy showed up 3 hours early they stopped what they were in the middle of and found my computer box among the dozens of boxes on the truck. They\r paid attention to what was written on all the boxes and placed them in the correct rooms - even the box that only said ""Tide,etc"" made it to the laundry area. They made suggestions about protecting my wood floors and my furniture. I paid by the hour and the final price was exactly what it should have been. I do not think the guys could have worked any harder or more efficiently. I was completely satisified and highly recommend this family owned company that delivers personal service with excellent quality. I would use JE Ladd again in a minute. more

Simply the best! This is a family owned and operated business, so even when ""Dad"" isn't around, the quality of service remains the same. this company was recommended to me by my boss. they took great care of our stuff, and were very friendly. the owner's family really works on the truck, which might be why they were so careful. i didn't know great little companies like this were still around. scheduling took a bit of rearranging, because my house closing was sooner than expected and they stay booked up. if you call way ahead, you should have no trouble. more
