J & S is by far the best ! 8/21/2008

Well I don't know about anyone else but I personally love their pizza and everything else. I've tried a few different places in the area but none of them come close to J & S. The staff there was nothing but nice to myself and the company that I brought with me. I have recommended people to J & S and will continue to do so. Cons: None that I can think of more

Bland, undercooked and overpriced 7/26/2008

Tried this place while visiting FV today. Awful! The pizza was bland, tasteless, undercooked and not inexpensive. Wait staff was well below average, talk right through the customers. Maybe it's a NY thing, but ""when in Rome....."" Had to beg for a check. Owner seemed cocky and complacent, as well as not washing his hands after handling money, on more than one occasion. In fact, i don't think there is a sink in the prep area. If there is, it was not obvious, and no one used it while we were there. Never again for us. Cons: Unhygenic and lousy pizza more

Much better choices in Fuquay-Varina 6/21/2008

My husband & I believe in giving everyone a fair chance. I would not post a review unless I'd eaten at a restaurant at least twice. In this case, I gave J&S 3 chances! Well, let's just say, 3 strikes & you're out. We tried their salad, pizza, & pasta. Out of 3 visits, we had one decent pizza. The salads were not fresh & the pasta sub-par. The service at this restaurant is severely lacking & the management doesn't seem to care about it either. Needless to say, we won't be back. We'll drive the extra 2 miles to Assaggios & Daniel's when we want good Italian food & great customer service! My friends & neighbors in Fuquay-Varina share these sentiments as well... Pros: Outdoor seating, downtown location Cons: Poor service, inconsistent food more

Avoid the Fuquay location! 4/16/2008

We had heard such glowing reviews of the Apex restaurant, and were extremely pleased to find the company had opened a restaurant in Fuquay (very near our home). We gave it a try last night only to have the worst pizza we've ever had (and we love pizza!) When paying the bill, my husband was asked how the food was. He explained that we didn't care for the pizza (greasy, crust was soggy with grease, only part of the pizza had toppings other than cheese) and the man's response showed no remorse -- no ""please come back and let us try again"" -- instead the man behind the register was very rude and acted as if we were simpletons. I so want FV to have a nice variety of restaurants and welcome any and all newcomers. However, you can bet that we will avoid J&S and go back to Rudino's (always GREAT pizza and friendly staff) when we want quality pizza. We can only hope that J&S fails in this prime location and some really good restaurant opens there. Pros: family friendly Cons: bad food; bad attitude of management more

The Best family business I've been to.... 3/28/2008

I've been to this place ever since it opend up and let me tell you I cant get enough of it...The food is really good & what makes it better is that it is family owned. The staff cares about you & about what you think. They make it an enjoyable experience,it is because the owners take pride of thier business they make it even better.I have read what badassbilly postted & all I can say is OH !!! PLEASE !!!GROW UP !!! It sounds like you are the one with no class... calling the staff plain out stupid & lazy ""ok there badassbilly""...I do not think so... they all work very hard, run around helping everyone there, and as for the family they are one of the hardest working family that I have seen. They will sit there and talk to you & make you feel at home. I have to say one thing yes sometimes you hear them yelling that is because they are trying to make everthing right , anyways HELLO !!! they are from New York what do you expect. sorry but what I can see is that ""Mr badassbilly ""you are the mean, rude, classless one... not that family or staff... I call it like I see it.... Pros: Good Family place Cons: Parking more

worst family run business I have every seen 3/26/2008

I give every place 3 strikes before I write them off my list of places to eat.....\r This place has made that list......\r The staff is just plain out stupid and lazy..... No intrest in making it an enjoyable experience, or it could be because the owners are yelling at them for every little thing they do and don't do....\r The family is truely unaware of how rude and cheap they come off as... \r Your staff will only be as professional as YOU their employers are.... so u may want to start over, Because from what i have seen the owners have no class...\r the things I have over heard the staff talking about is a whole other story..... \r and yes it was about the owners...... and I have heard the owners bad mouthing there staff..... thats just not cool to see in this day and age.....\r \r I hope someone who knows how to run a good resturant comes along and picks that place up right after they loss it all... surley other people have had the same experience there, its only a matter of time before they will have to shut their doors.... too bad too the pizza is the only good thing in there....\r \r sorry but i call'em like I see'em Pros: outside seating Cons: mean family... rude, classless...... more

Great Pizza 3/14/2008

This place is great! The Pizza is the best I've had in Apex/Cary. This is more of a takeout place, I don't understand the complaints about dining in. The staff has always been friendly. more

Felt like I was in NY City 2/19/2008

Fuquay's BEST Pizza place has arrived. It's a little taste of New York City in the South. Pizza is fantastic! Crust is thin and crispy. Try the Stomboli. Packed full of delicious cheeses and meats, with a zesty Marinara sauce for dipping. It's big enough for 2 people. Service is friendly and fast. Great atmosphere!! Pros: Food service ambience Cons: long wait for delievery more

waitstaff STINKS!!!!!!!!!! FIRE THEM ALL!!!! 2/10/2008

umm well the wait staff stinks!!! the numerous times i have been there, different waitress have made it more of a chore to check up on me rather then have it as a priority. when they come by to check up on you they look unhappy and make it more of a pit stop then to really find out how things are really going. although the food is great the waitstaff makes the experience unenjoyable. i had to come up to the counter and ask the young lady behide the counter to stop what she was doing inorder to statisfy me beacuse of the lack of service. now with the people behide the counter they look to unhappy and yes it is a family restaurant however the excess yelling is ridiculous. Smile people its not going to hurt you. now with the young girl behide the counter is doing a great job but looks a little flustered beacuse ive seen numerous times everyones problems being dumped on her. whether its is coustomers or the witstaff or the others working. the pizza man is also doing a good job because it is not his fault either that the waitstaff creates an unpleasant enviornment plus he makes a killer large pepporioni pizza!!\r all in all the food is great but with how terrible the waitstaff is i dont think that i will be coming back untill they address their waitstaff. Pros: great food Cons: waitstaff needs to go more

AVOID AT ALL COST 2/3/2008

We went to the Fuquay location. The first time we went, the service was terrible but the food was ok. We went again tonight and service was terrible again. We ordered an appetizer that came out about 10 minutes after we had our entrees in front of us -- what?!? Then my pizza had a hair (small curly black hair) baked into the crust. Who knows if I ate any of it, I have felt sick since seeing it and we immediately left. My husband's pasta had shrimp that was 1/2 cooked. \r \r Disgusting. I am just sick to my stomach even thinking about what I may have ingested. Pros: New restaurant in Fuquay -- we don't have that many nice independent restaurants. Cons: Food, Service, Timing of food more

Good food and even better waitress 12/5/2007

I have been to this location a few times and every time the food is very good. The best part is the waitress that I have had everytime. She is very good and polite and as a bonus I think she is very pretty. Sometimes the wait times for food are a little long but she does everything she can to make the most out of a rough spot. more

J&S Pizzeria in F-V NC 12/2/2007

I just had a wonderful meal at J&S pizzeria in F-V. I have to say the service needs alittle improvement, but I feel that had alot to do with the fact that they were very very busy, but its like that at any new resturant so that is to be expected.....I hope people have enough insite to see that they need time to work out all the kinks, being a former resturant owner I can definately say its hard work, I wish you all the best....I will keep coming back......... oh and the food we had was, large cheese pie one of the best we had in while, garlic bread, and fetticini alfredo w/shrimp...very tasty alfredo sauce...hope ya'll get to try it someday........ Pros: best pizza in NC... just like a New York pie...great family place, large tables.. Cons: long waits....but its worth it... more

The Best Pizza Anywhere 12/1/2007

Last night was my husband and my first time every at a J&S NY Pizza and really all I can say is WOW!!! Not only was our waitress extremely nice and conversational to the point that we felt like family, she took excelent care of us. Being there on a friday night i expected it would be busy and it was, yet the waitress was still very personal and helped us to have a good time. As we were ready to order there was a bit of a wait on pizza and the young lady helped us decide on another alternative that wasn't gonna be as long. She helped my hisband decide on the best sub he has ever had, An Eggplant Parm Sub, and myself i had another thing she suggested, which was thier Meatball Sub with cheese. The food was delicious!!!!! Who ever they have back in the kitchen are amazing at their job and are a great asset to the resturant. All in all i my husband and i plan on going in again tonight and are going to enjoy not only the excellent serive but their amazing food. We are so glad that we came in last night and now were even more excited that it's here in Fuquay. We needed a good Italian resturant. I have to say this family own resturant made me feel one at home. I wasn't just a customer, i was one of the family. God Bless All of You Pros: Great Food, Great Service, and They provide you with a wonderful experience Cons: Nothing more

Te Best Customer Service!!!! 11/29/2007

My family & I ate there in the F-V one OH My God that is some good food !!!...The garlic nots are to die for... I love them...When you order pizza topping they really put them on there unlike the other places around here... My husband loves thier Stuffed Pizza it is a 14pd meat & cheese pizza I never seen anything like it ...I love it... The waitresses, bless their hearts they make you feel like you are at home, very nice people... Yes the wait can be long sometimes but it is well worth it... They are very busy why wouldnt they be it is the best food ever & they care about what you think...I'LL be back for more... You know I just posted a review about how good their food is to see what Cleoness wrote I am so irate about this... it sounds like the only reason you are soooo mad is because of the sweat tea... the waitress sounds like she was very nice giving you cheese sticks and all .... and you still where not happy its not like you had to pay for them ....is funny because what you wrote sounds like they were very busy of course you have to wait longer... when they are busy it is like any other busy restaurant you wait longer thats the way it goes....and not for nothing it sounds like they all tried to make you and your family happy... Pros: best food around Cons: you wait a little bit longer but well worth it more

Worst Customer Service I ever experienced 11/29/2007

My family ate at the Fuquay location. We had to wait for a free table in front of a big sign stating ""seat yourself"". None of the staff approached or greeted us. After a long wait, we were seated. My family ordered 2 sweet teas. We were informed later that there was no sugar, and that we would have to change to order to soft drinks. There were no other alternatives. Between the initial wait and the lack of tea, my family's mood was glum. I wanted a slice, but they do not serve slices at night. Then my fiance's food was brought out long before the other two orders were done. The staff kept approaching the table and explaining all of their problems to us, blaming each other, blaming the crowds, indirectly blaming us ( ""you came at the busiest time"" ) At no time did anyone say, ""This is not the service we want to provide, what can we do for you to keep your business?"" When my daughter's meal finally came out, it was wrong and had to be sent back. @ TWO hours after we walked in, our meal was on the table. By that time, we were so irate we had it packed up to go, mine cold, hers hot. We had to pay for two of the meals, and all three of the drinks (even the sodas we didn't really want) They gave us free cheese sticks (that we didn't ask for or want) The smallest order of smallest cheese sticks we have ever seen! Don't order their appetizers! Expensive, rude and the food was mediocre. The customer service was such that as we left they were very sarcastically saying ""please come back to see us"" and "" have a nice night"". They were angry that we did not have more compassion for their problems. The crowning comment was they could not find good waitresses in the community. Bottom line, the experience was about their problems, and not about our food not being on the table. If you want to experience aggression and poor service, this is the place. Not only do they offer the worst customer service in the Triangle, they obviously can't spell, either. Cons: Worst Ever Customer Service more

Waiting for Bad food- Fuquay location 11/29/2007

My family and I ate at the Fuquay- Varina , Broad street location. Packed, waited for tables to be cleared. Waited addition 45mins for food. Garlic Knot was very cold, garlic on it was refrigerater cold. Hubby's Stromboli didn't have the extra pepperoni ordered, dough undercooked, ingredients not mixed well together inside the stromboli. Certain spots just had pepperoni, just bread, just cheese. etc. Waitress apoligized. She tried but it became annoying afterawhile coming to the table to make chit chat ever 5 mins or so. Sweet tea wasn't very sweet. Mushrooms from a can. The pizza itself was okay, nice mozzarella on it. Overall, will never go back because of the wait times for items served cold. Garlic Knots should be served warm at least room temp! Had them many times in New York and Florida pizzerias. Total wait time = 1 hour. Ate food in 20mins. Paid $32. Showed waitress undercooked doughy stromboli which was cold in the center. Still paid full price. Never going back. \r \r New York Pizzeria in Holly Springs much better!! Pros: Plenty of parking. Corner lot, easily seen from street Cons: Served improperly cooked food, too long of a wait more

OK, if your Hardcore and Don't Mind the Dirt. 11/25/2007

Filthy, but OK , if they cook your pizza enough or if one of the daughetrs is not having a personal crisis. Not alot to choose from in Apex on the 55 corridor. This is a place you stop in for a slice or two. Not a place you bring a date, family or expect too much from. Pros: Experience Cons: Everything Else more

Best Crust 8/10/2007

J & S Pizza is the closest thing I've found to NY pizza in the Triangle area. The crust was perfectly cooked and very crispy! Great pizza! The owner is originally from Brooklyn, NY the home of the best pizza on the planet. Pros: pizza more
