Ithaca Renting Company

My apart. is sooo cute! I picked it out last year with my roommates during the fall when all the c-town landlords were starting their rentals. I like how they always took the time at this place to answer our quetsions and even talk to my parents when we signed the lease. When we moved in it was clean and bright and has a awesome view of the lake and we are really happy so far. We have even had to call the service dept. already to have them come fix something in the kitchen and they came right away. i love living in c-town =) more

They messed up everything from day one until the very very end. Office ladies are completely rude, incompetent, unhelpful and unintelligent; maintenance is unbelievably slow; apartments are never renovated or updated in any way--they're basically trying to get as much out of those buildings until they completely collapse. We had to deal with bee infestations, rain and snow leaking into our rooms and causing mold buildup year-round, holes in the wall, cabinet doors falling off, etc. In February there was a week where the heat completely shut off, they must have received at least 20 complaints (including a couple from my apartment) and never gave any response until they finally felt like turning it back on. When it came back on the temperature in our apartment was 58 degrees--an obviously liability issue. In the end they send my damage deposit check back to the original tenant (I was the subtenant) without notifying me, despite the fact that the original tenant never set foot in that apartment. When I called to ask what happened they were rude as usual. I would say to avoid them like the plague, but I bet most Collegetown landlords are similar. At least be prepared for a lot of frustration. more

As the previous reviewer managment was friendly when showing you the aprartment, but when you move in you will find it hard to get any work done in your apartment that you need done. Over 2 months to fix the lock on my door, didn't know that required brain surgery. You have no control of the heat in your so it's like a sauna both in winer and summer months, unless you opt to pay them more a month for a window a/c unit. All utilities are included which do make them appealing but they for sure tend to cater to the short term tenant not the tenant needing a more long term living solution. If you need a place for only a few months might be the place for you but longer term you'll have issues with temp in your apartment and trying to get maintenace done to it. more

When I was searching for an apartment, I looked at the properties owned by Ithaca Renting Company. The representatives were always quite friendly and willing to help. The properties that they own include Collegetown Court and Collegetown Plaza, but I know they have at least one other one whose name escapes me. The buildings range from moderate prices to relatively expensive, although I didn't notice too much difference between them. The company gave out floor plans for each building and was very accommodating in showing sample apartments. One note of caution. The apartments are very popular and they go quickly. If you want to get one of better ones, you need to act fast. The first day that leases could be signed this past year, I drove by to see a huge line of people waiting outside for the office to open. Apparently, some had slept outside overnight to get a good spot in line so they would be guaranteed their first choice apartment. I haven't heard of any negatve experiences with the company or the apartments, but since I chose a different place, I obviously haven't had too much experience. Anyone looking for an apartment in Collegetown should definitely go the leasing office and see what they have available. more
