A wonderful ""made-from-scratch"" restaraunt, featuring a wood oven and food like that found in many ""white-tablecloth""/""fancy chef"" restaraunts (at much higher prices than here), plus a great liquor/wine selection make the Irish Rose a ""must eat at"" restaraunt. Esp. worth noting are the fresh breads, the cheesecake, the salads, foccasia, pasta, and the weekly-changing menu, depending on what is ""in season."" Furthermore, if you like freshwater fish cooked properly, this place is ""heaven."" Also has many vegetarian items on the menu. Entrees start around $8. Dress=casual--trendy--fancy--artsy. Sadly, overlooked by the ""locals"" in Rockford, but would be packed silly if located in Chicago...
Pros: wine & microbrews, fresh food in season, "properly spiced"
Cons: busy on weekends, the lunch menu lacks, kitchen closed Sunday
