Life Changing! 6/30/2011

I am just about halfway through the 7 month day program and have loved every minute of it. I can't get over how grateful I am for the friends, knowledge, and inner peace I have gained from becoming a student there. I don't want it to end! more

Institute of Massage Therapies 6/26/2011

I'm a recent graduate of the nine month program at Institute of Massage Therapies (April 2011). Words cannot express how amazing I think this school is. The instructors are so passionate and knowledgeable about what they do and they really want to see you (the student) succeed. This course is not for the faint of heart. You have to be willing to put in the time and effort, and if you do, you will walk away with more knowledge than you could ever have imagined you could attain in a nine month period. The instructors are incredible teachers that manage to teach things in a way that A. makes them memorable and B. makes the harder concepts easier to understand. Going to this school will absolutely arm you with the confidence and skill needed to work as a massage therapist (not to mention the ability to pass the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork. I passed the first time I took the test.) On a personal level, this program changed my life. It made me a better, more positive, and confident person. Going to this school is probably one of the best decisions I have made. Again, I don't think I can truly express how awesome an experience learning at this school was. I just believe that if you are looking for a place to learn massage therapy, look no further...Institute of Massage Therapies is where you need to be. more

What a wonderful way to relax! 1/22/2009

I haven't had a massage in a while so a friend and I decided to give Institute of Massage Therapies a try. My therapist, Michelle, was wonderful! Not only did she thoroughly review my history before the massage, but she also made me feel comfortable. She knew exactly which areas had the most tension and after the massage, she even gave me tips on what I could do to help prevent the built up tension & some cramping I was having in my calves. It was so relaxing, I'm going to call to schedule another appointment! more

The Institute of Massage Therapies 10/12/2007

\r When I first visited the Institute of Massage Therapies, I had never had a massage in my life. A friend suggested this to me because I was having problems with both my right leg and back. The first thing that happened was a fairly complete list of what was ailing me and what a massage could do to make me feel better. I went to the massage area and was still apprehensive. Once the massage started, I felt a strange thing happening - the tension in my body went away and I felt asleep. It was so relaxing. As time went on, I continued returning to the Institure for additional sessions and let them know if there were special areas (back, feet, etc) that needed more attention. I have always been satisfied and left more relaxed when I left.\r \r Pam is the director of this Institute and teaches each of her students to emulate her. I have seen many people coming and going and they all say the same thing about the Institute of Massage Therapies - they are happy and more relaxed. Because all of the staff are trained by Pam, they all offer the same techniques and level of service. What did Richmond do for a decent massage before Pam arrived and started her training and service? \r \r I give the Institute 5 STARS for its' professionalism and service. I will continue to patronize them. more

Institute of Massage Therapies 8/22/2007

When I went on to the Institute of Massage Therapies to get a routine massage my eyes were opened to a new way of thinking "healthy". My therapist was JoAnn and she helped me understand why I was suffering with tired muscles and an acking back. She took her time and helped me learn ways to lessen stress with small techniques that I would be able to do on my own until my next visit. I will be sure to keep every appointment and will let everyone I know where to go next time they need a massage!!! Thank you JoAnn!!! more

How do you spell relief?? Institue of Massage Therapies 8/16/2007

I can't say enough about my experiences at the Institute. Mireck is my therapist and he has skills. I tried to find another therapist closer to my home but that was a big mistake and waste of time and money. My body told me to get back to Mireck in a hurry because I just was not getting the relief I needed. I have been more

Institute of Massage Therapies 5/31/2007

This is absolutely the best massage school around. I am a recent graduate of Institute of Massage Therapies and I have to say it changed my life. Not only do you get the very best massage and anatomy education, but you will also leave with a different perspective on life. After only being in this profession for a very short time, I have the confidence and ability to change other people's lives with what I have learned. Don't waste your time looking at other schools. You won't find one. Pros: The best of everything Cons: none more

Thank You Pam! 5/31/2007

I am not a student at the Institute, but I am a very satisfied customer! I went to see Pam due to a lack of flexability in my neck. Pam took the time to dig deeper in my problems and discovered that I was also experiencing pain in my knees and lower back. She explained to me that there was a connection between my lower back and knee problems. In only two sessions, Pam not only gave me more movement in my neck that I have had in 10 years or more, but also worked on stretching a muscle in my left hip that was pulling my lower body out of alignment thus causing the pain in my knees. Pam gave me some exercises to do at home that continue to help increase the flexability in my neck and help keep my knees painfree. I am now able to walk 18 holes of golf without the knee problems that I experienced in the past. Pros: good location, excellant staff, good parking, professional and extremely knowledgeable Cons: not a one! more

If you want to be the best, you gotta train with the best! 5/31/2007

About 4 years ago I was in the midst of a career change. After deciding massage would be a very rewarding career and fun too, my mother and I started looking at schools. We went to interview at Institute of Massage Therapies and an instant connection was made! The fact that one of the owners tought class and sat down with us was impressive, and what she said she tought was right up the alley I wanted to go. I wanted to lean more towards the medical end of massage and that is exactly how they toucht there. Honestly I wasnt to excited about starting this massage course, I figured it would be easy, learn a few muscles and bones and be done with it.....right? I was soo wrong, and after just 1 month I just knew this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life! It is a base of everything else I am doing to accomplish my goals, and I believe that I am a great therapist because I had great training Other therapists with more years of experience under their belt come running to me to ask me questions about clients and trust what I say, because I'm right, I know my stuff, and I understand the reason for the answer. So if they question me, I can give the the full explanation and those other therapists agree. Pros: Excellent Training, Very knowledgeable of what they teach, and they continue to answer questions after you graduate. Cons: I honestly can't think of any, at least at the moment, but it was 4 years ago. more

Look no further... 5/30/2007

I was one of the first students at the Institute of Massage Therapies. Pros: Study materials, convenient location, compassionate instructors Cons: No such thing! more

For a great Massage 3/5/2007

I didn't go to school here but have had one of the best Medical Massages I have ever received. I was in so much pain when I went to see Pam and she took her time to ask several questions about where my pain was located. She was very thorough and professional. She worked on me in that area and was very concerned that I felt better before I left. Pam gave me handouts to take home so that I could help my healing along. Pros: Very Professional and can get the results you want Cons: couldn't find any more

Best Massage School! 3/4/2007

If you want to be a GREAT Certified Massage Therapist, Institute of Massage Therapies is the best school around. I.M.T. has a six month program (day classes) and a 12 month program with classes in the evening (both 552+ Hours). They are both Intense programs... so don't bother if you don't want to work hard. But believe me, you won't be sorry if you do. I was referred by a former student and he spoke so highly of the school that I had to check it out. I was so impressed. Pros: Fantastic Instructors, tuition is very reasonable, text books are great, parking is great Cons: none more
