Nice environment 4/28/2003

You are surrounded by nature in this hidden spot! You can see coyotes and dragon flies while you dine. The food is all organic, however, the taste is not as good. This is a good place to take a date if you want to be romantic, but not a good place to go for good food. more

Easter Disaster 4/8/2003

I Find it funny that this Place is being listed as a top place to go for a holiday meal. I refuse to go to this place even if my friends love the area and the place(not for it's food). Pros: veiw Cons: parking, service, food more

excellent food, vegetarian or not 3/28/2003

I have had their vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare and both are esquisite in presentation and taste. Their vegetarian duck is prepared so well i actually thought they had got my order wrong and served me meat. As for their fish, it is the freshist on the block and a must try. I also recommend the patio dining. It is set up so well that you can enjoy the sound of the running brook, complete w/ frogs, while toasting up next to the patio heaters on one of the chillier evening. Pros: Succulent food, Outdoor Patio, Experienced staff more

A true Romantic Paradise 2/17/2003

Well contrary to most comments I read before going to the Inn on Valentine's Day my experience was incredible. The food was excellent. The portions could have been bigger. The service was excellent. I at one time was a server so I am critical when it comes to table service...and this was one of the best. And the ambiance does NOT get any better. We sat near a running creek and watched animals walk by. It was so nice to get away from LA's crazy nightlife and experience the Inn. Pros: Ambiance, Service, Romantic Cons: Overpriced more

One of the Finest 2/9/2003

The food and the atmosphere are fantastic. This is one place that is definately on the A list. The food is some of the finest one can find. Combined with a running stream that you can walk down to from the outside dining area, one can not go wrong here. Pros: Valet Parking, romantic, great atmosphere more

Not ALL that ... 2/8/2003

After hearing such rave reviews on this restaurant, I begged my fiance to go. It was the first & LAST time-the menu choices were sparse and strange (you'd have to be a ritzy health food nut to appreciate the choice of food) the prices for what we ended up eating were outrageous - we ended up leaving with both empty stomachs and empty pockets! The only good thing about Inn of the Seventh Ray was the ambience. It was truly romantic, though there weren't any booths, only tables. The lighting & decoration was, even on a rainy night, very beautiful. To go for a glass of wine with the one you love, this place is nice- however, I don't recommend it if you're looking for romance AND a satisfying meal. I was embarrassed to say the least after having begged my fiance incessantly, only to discover it wasn't ALL THAT. Pros: ambience, location Cons: food quantity, pricey, food choice more

Enchanted Forrest 2/4/2003

Can you imagine stepping into a magic forest? The trees strewn with thousands of tiny white lights, tables glowing with candles. Your enter like royalty, descending down the stone steps with intimate tables for two at every level. Each table with its own spectacular view. A nearby creek runs like cool velvet near the long row of intimate booths towards the back. Ethereal music delicately plays in the background as you drink your organic plum wine and linger over the tempting and original entrees. It doesn't get better than this. more

A ""Ray"" of Disappointment 1/22/2003

The Inn of the Seventh Ray is as beautiful and romantic as described in the review, but the food was a huge disappointment. My boyfriend and I are both vegetarians, so, of course, we had the only two entrees on the menu that were meatless. I ordered the meatless, vegan duck--what a huge mistake. The vegan duck was dry and soo hard that I couldn't even cut it with my knife, and my boyfriend's food wasn't much better. For as expensive as everything is on the menu, we expected much better. If it is ambience that you are looking for...go, but if it's for delicious food...don't go. Pros: Very Romantic Setting Cons: Bad Food, Over Priced more

The ambience is amazing, the food; not 1/13/2003

This is where my Husband preposed to me. It is the most romantic restuarant I have ever been to. If your going to do it in a restaurant this is the place. I will say the food is not good. We thought it was just that evening. We went back for our one year anniversary and it was terrible. I will defenitely be back but maybe for a glass of wine , an appetizers or just dessert; but not for the whole meal. The quality you get is not worth the price. But it sure is beautiful!!! Pros: Beautiful, Incredibly romantic, Amazing Cons: Food is bad, Expensive, Reservations are a mu more

Romanic evening I will cherish forever 12/11/2002

Soft murmuring of the canyon river, quite rustles of the old trees, deep sky, candlelight, and relaxing music This restaurant is a perfect combination of remarkable service and untouched nature. As pure and romantic as it can be. Pros: good parking, awesome stuff more

ENCHANTING 12/11/2002

Love was enough to inspirate us in our romantic date, but being there, sitting by that stream, at the light of candles in their fairy tale's terrace, added the perfect set to a perfect script. Marvelous. Pros: Quiet location, Inexpensive Cons: Quite confusing menu more

RAW FOODS AT LAST 11/12/2002

My family and I have enjoyed many fine meals at the Inn of the Seventh Ray. In our recent visit, we dined from the Raw Foods menu and without exaggeration, I believe the dishes are the best the restaurant now offers. It provides a wonderful alternative to the standard fare, and nothing is sacrificed in taste or presentation, and the resulting health benefits should not be ignored. I want to point out that we have dined in some of the finest restaurants in the world and this restaurant is not to be missed! The Raw Food menu makes the reputation of serving delicious food compatible with its natural setting a reality. Everyone who visits the Inn should try at least one course of Raw Food. Let me also point out that we don't adhere to a strict vegetarian or vegan diet...raw foods is for everyone. more

Nightmare 11/4/2002

The food was tepid and the service was horrible. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. more

Great Ambience, Mediocre Food 11/1/2002

I might return for a glass of wine to soak in the lovely ambience. Truly a romantic environment. However the food was mediocre and for the price you'd expect better. Even the desserts were blah. For $30 for an entree I anticipated some pretty good food. And we couldn't even send an overcooked dish back because the server disappeared. Pros: Beautiful setting Cons: Food, Long wait even w/res. more

Very charming & classy 10/7/2002

This is probably the fanciest vegetarian restaurant in L.A. The ambience and outdoor dining in the summer is truly the best...They also do a really nice Thanksgiving dinner.... more

Pot of Gold 10/3/2002

There is nothing like the smell of the air after many hours or days of rain. If you have the chance sit on the patio at night and be serenaded by nature's own beautiful music. Crickets chirping, leaves rustling and just after the rain the creek bustling. Occasionally a small fox will greet you, all this while being catered to your every whim. Definitely a must visit whether you are valley native or here for vacation. more

Impressive 9/15/2002

Someone told me this place was very romantic but the service was not that good. Said he had only gone once. Having been in the restaurant business myself, knew we all have good days and bad and one persons visit didn't put me off. Well I've been ther about five or six times now and couldn't be more pleased. The natural surroundings is super, haven't had any food that wasn't very good to excellent and I personally, nor my guests, have'nt had any problem with the service. Love this place. I couldn't believe your rating when I was browsing here and I began to think people who know a good thing when they see it don't want others to know, a fantastic little hideaway of there own I guess. Pros: Great surroundings, Away from the city, Reasonable more

One of the best in town, 8/28/2002

this restaurant has a romantic outdoor setting AND great food. Can't beat the combo when everyone else only has ONE of those. Pros: Eclectic, Exceptional Food Cons: Expensive more

Beautiful! 8/8/2002

I just adore this place! Very romantic, good food! Its menu is a little steep, but well worth it! Pros: ambience, food, service Cons: bit pricey, cold in the winter more

Looks are Deceiving... Esp. at the Inn 7/23/2002

Yes, the atmosphere is beautiful It's set in the mountains and the outdoor dining area is beautifully lit with strings of Christmas lights. I even got to sit in the Gazebo which was a nice treat. But I'd never go there again. Why? Because the service was WAY BELOW PAR and the food was nothing to talk about, other than it being WAY OVERPRICED and just MEDIOCRE. Even the Manager doesn't even know how to handle a complaint. We complained about the poor service from two of the waiters and not once did she offer an apology, just excuses that just weren't credible. When all these reviews complain about HORRIBLE SERVICE and MEDIOCRE FOOD, that's gotta tell you something... There's plenty of other places that you can enjoy a beautiful atmosphere... BUT, with GREAT FOOD & SERVICE. I mean, isn't that what a good dining experience is all about? Pros: Atmosphere, Outdoor dining, Gazebo Cons: Service, Food, The Drive more
