So we lived around the block from this tasty Indian food palace for almost a year before we ever tried it because a close Indian friend told us that ""no respectable Indian would ever eat at an Indian restaurant with ""India"" in the name."" So, ya know, we wanna go where people who know the food would go, and we avoided it for a long time. . .until one night when an Indian taxi driver told us that his friend (at Indian Aroma) made the best Indian food in the city, and we decided to give it a try. Since then, we have been upwards of 15 times and have never had a bad experience. Service is great, prices are very reasonable and the food is wonderful. Our particular favorites include the lamb and chicken curries, which are always excellent; the chicken tikka masala (a spicy, delicious treat without that greasy look and taste that it has at so many other restaurants around here); all of the spinach dishes; and of course, the other North Indian veggie favorite, the chana masala. In summary -- Shalimar? please. Naan-N-Curry? Please. Aslam's rasoi? Double please. Rotii? OK, Rotii is pretty good, but you get what I'm trying to say here. Do yourself a favor and try Indian Aroma. You will not be sorry.
Pros: Hands down, best Indian food in SF!
