India Star

Never having Indian food before, my husband enjoys Indian Food, so he took me to India Star Restaurant for lunch. I didn't know how spicy/hot the food would be. Both my husband and the waitress helped me with my selections. I truly enjoyed the taste. The mild curry taste was a delight as well as the different selections, not just meat. Of course light (non-sticky) rice & good choice of vegetables and with several fruit selections. I love rice pudding. A second plate was available. Enjoyed watching Bally-wood on the very large screen. My first time to see & hear Indian music. The owner came over to visit with us, as he was pleased to see us blue eyed blonds in his very own restaurant. We have been going there for several years, ever since we saw the movie 'slum-lord' . Ok, this place is so good! It is the real deal as far as Indian Food goes. I ate here recently and will definitely be returning. The food was very good, the people were friendly, and they even had authentic Indian music videos playing on the big-screen TV. What more could you want? Pros: great food! more

We visited Star India last Friday, for the first time, hoping for a great Indian food experience. However, we were not impressed at all with the mediocre food, and the price for a lunch buffet on Friday was unreasonable, in our opinion. If that weren't enough, my husband and I BOTH GOT SICK from eating this food. It was the only meal we shared together that day, and it kept us up during the night with a bad 24-hour case of diarrhoea and abdominal pains. We are certain that this was not caused from a virus we might have caught elsewhere, because our symptoms and discomfort, etc. happened simultaneously. We will never eat at this place again. A few days later, we both returned to Star India to request a full refund for the lunch buffet that caused us to get sick, and the management/owners refused to even consider our case. They even welcomed a friend, who had just walked into the restaurant, to engage in the discussion about our request for a refund, which we thought was very unprofessional. Star India employees made no attempt to sympathize or address our concerns in a helpful way, but rather demanded we have some proof, like a doctor's note or prescription, before they would think about giving our money back. They also told us that we were supposed to call the next day, if we got sick. Who's ever heard of that rule? Besides, we told them that we live in North Fort Worth and this wouldn't have been convenient to come back any sooner (we returned the Wednesday after.) I eat a lot of Indian take-out. This restaurant was efficient, friendly, authentic, and the food is good. I order lamb vindaloo, garlic nan, and vegetable samosas all for under $20. Honestly, I expected poor quality food but was sick of burgers and steak. To my delight, all of the above were well cooked, very flavorful, and good quality.
