The food was ok, not the best in Hoboken. The delivery time was the major problem. I ordered at 6:45, it stated the food would arrive between 8 & 810. When it was not there at 8:20 I called the restaurant, they stated I lived too far (I live in Hoboken, less than a mile away) and it would be another 10 or 15 minutes. At almost 9PM the food arrived. The wait time should be somewhat accurate to when the food will arrive, as well if they have delivery problems outside of a 1 block radius, they should not deliver there. I will never order from them again. more

I never write reviews but the delivery person was EXTREMELY rude for no apparent reason. Food was also late. The food at India on the Hudson was not good enough to deal with the terrible delivery service. more

Updated decor and menu same prices.... 2/2/2011

The decor at this 15 + year old restaurant has been recently updated. The result is a modern yet casual and cozy neighborhood favorite. The service is warm, friendly and attentive. My bf and I noticed how happy the waitstaff looks, which reflects in the service and overall ambience of the restaurant. The menu has all the usual favorites and is very well priced. We ordered Mango Mojitos which were flavorful and heady. Our food was fresh, well presented, and o so flavorful. We had a veggie platter to start and then had the most moist and succulent Tandoori chicken which is served with a side of basmati rice and lentil soup. I recommend the lamb vindaloo for those who like it HOT...it was perfect. For dessert we had the Gulab Jamun, a great antidote to the spicy meal. I highly recommend a visit to this little jewel of Hoboken. more

This place was terrible! When they arrived at my apartment 1 hour after I placed the order, they never rang my doorbell - they only called my cellphone. Since I missed the call they left without delivering the order and I had to call to have them come back to deliver the food. They finally came back after another HOUR to deliver the food so in total they took TWO full hours to deliver my order and they were incredibly rude about the entire ordeal. They blamed me for the mix up, and yelled at me over the phone. The food was barely mediocre. I would recommend that everyone STAY AWAY from this restaurant!! more

Great Indian Service 7/10/2007

We had dinner at India on the Hudson the other day. Lots of menu include crawfish, which I thought was interesting. We have had better Goa curry else where, but menu covers dishes from north to south. Desserts came on the house. Wait staff is very attentive - they were friendly in a typical Indian way. I've been to India twice (not on business), and I've worked with many for extended duration of time. I like to see ""Indian service,"" which is like having your own buttler at the restaurant. Pleasant Surprise 1/15/2004

Outstanding service. My bf ordered a beer which the waiter poured into a glass sideways, interesting and very kewl to watch. Once placed on the table, the waiter noticed the beer was a bit flat and rushed off to replace it. I have eaten in many restaurants in NYC, LA, Newport, Seoul, Rio, Manila, Anchorage, Jamaica, Caymans, Puerto Rico and Hawaii and have never seen this happen. Generally one would have to point out to the waitstaff the beer was flat and ask for another. Very attentive and pleasant staff, nice ambiance, even the other patrons were happy, relaxed and friendly. Food was also quite good, meal well spiced and portions hearty. If only I had been on the ball and asked for the remainder to be wrapped for a yummy snack later. more

Quest for Indian Food 11/3/2002

Recntly on my drive through NJ going to PA I had the pleasure of stopping to see a friend in Hoboken. She is absolutely crazy about Indian food. In the search of Indian food we spotted this place called India on the Hudson on Washington Street. After thinking awhile I decided to give it a try thinking that it might not be the best Indian food that I will have. The restaurants apparently provides free parking, not that parking was a problem at the time. Well staffed place with good decor for romantic date even qualifys for a first date. Food was decent with good service not the best that I've had but definitely not bad at all. If anyone ever is wandering in that area and wishes to try Indian food, India on the Hudson is a place that's worth a visit. Pros: Paking more
