I am new to the area and needed to find a new stylist. A friend of mine referred me to Annie at Impact Salon. I was skeptical at first since I have been seeing the same stylist in L.A. for 7 years. I thought I would give it a try and was pleasantly surprised. Annie gave me recomendations on how to update my look while working with my lifestyle. I liked what she had to say and thought I would give it a try. My hair color turned out fablulous....and my husband loved it. I would recommend Annie to anyone. She is the best! I had been everywhere to find a colorist, I finally found Annie . I went to get my hair colored and previous to that day she had seen me to go over the consultation. She knew what I had in mind and told me it was easy. I told her that I did not want my hair colored then lifted out to highlight. No colorist has ever done that so I knew I did not want that. She insisted that it would be fine even after I asked her not to do it. I wanted blonde hightlights and I left with dryed out over process hair with a light brown hight lights. Annie told me to come back in a day or to to redo it and she would charge me again for that. That is the worst customer service ever. She should have got it right the first time, with paying as much as I did. To top it off she did not even style my hair. When I came home my husband said to me,"" I thought you went to get your hair done"". He could not even tell I had it done. Annie was rude about the whole thing and actually had a very bad attitude about it. I would never recommend her to anyone. Pros: Good looking salon Cons: bad attitude and no receptionist more

I was really excited to find a salon in Walnut Creek with such high reviews. Decided to call and make appointment with Mary due to comments on this website. I found her to be very nice but did end up with a hair color a little too harsh. Way too harsh.(I didn't get any compliments-the opposite actually-stunned silence and ""what happened to your hair?"")\r \r I really hate to leave a bad review but that cut and color cost me quite a bit of money as not only did I pay to have it done, I had to pay another stylist to fix it. The fix, stunning! What I had originally wanted. Very natural and shiny.\r \r If you want to try this salon as it is a great atmosphere, I would recommend Nina. I watched one of her clients walk out with a beautiful cut. \r \r more

I have never been happy with my hair. Nothing makes me feel better about myself than a good haircut. I finally found one at Impact. Mary and her sister Colleen not only run a professional, very nicely renovated salon, but they know hair. The best part of getting my hair cut by Mary is that she is willing to tell me whats he thinks will work and what won't. She is the expert, and I trust her advice as she has never steered me wrong. I have had numerous compliments on my hair since going to Mary about 4 years ago. I have referred her salon to my husband, numerous clients, and even my mother in law who now loves her hair too. Nina, who cuts mu husband's hair, has a great eye and sense of style. She is able to give him the less conservative (more punky) hair that he wants while keeping it stylish and work appropriate. I would recommend Impact to anyone who is not happy with their current hair salon, wants a change but is not sure to what, and to anyone looking for a high end experience without the snootiness that you often find in WC. What a Fantastic location, close to Nordstrom's and easy parking in the Broadway Parking Garage. What makes this salon a cut above the rest, is its relaxing atmosphere with upscale service and decor. I felt like I had walked into a chic salon in Paris, France. This is a special treat for anyone who hates trying to get into the City to pay ultra high prices for a lot less expertise and experience. I was greeted warmly and waited 15 minutes to consult with a stylist that had been recommended to me by my doctor. I thought the wait time was great considering how long I wait for my doctor. It's hard to find a stylist with more than 25 years of experience that will see you and consult about what your needs and wants are. It's even better \r when the finished product is exactly what you wanted and you leave the salon feeling pretty pumped up with the new look! I would recommend this salon over some of the top salon's in the city. I was a regular customer in Yoshi's in San Francisco for ten years. Deciding to go to a new salon and stylist was the scary part. Finding Annie at Impact Salon in Walnut Creek was the dream come true! The parking was taken care of with a garage adjacent to the building. The salon was tucked in the corner there next to the parking garage but the hidden treasure was my new stylist - Annie! She was highly recommended by a co-worker and I will go no where else but to her going forward. She asked if I needed any water, coffee, listened to the ideas I had for my new do and suggested a few ideas of what to do with the horrible dye jobs I'd been doing to myself previously. I loved the techniques she used to cut my hair. Side note: The little twist she does to flip her scissors up makes her look like a rock star! Love the tattoos too. more

I had long hair and wanted a new look- yet i still wanted to be able to tie my hair up. After reading 'Impact Hair Salon's' reviews on CitySearch, I decided to give it a shot. They had a parking garage right next to their suite. When I walked in, I was greeted by their receptionist and offered coffee, tea...etc... My stylist, Nina, came a few minutes later and sat me down. I told her exactly what i wanted and she listened. I told her that i wanted layers- but not to many; I wanted long enough hair to tie back but not the same length i had at the time; i told her i wanted bangs but ones that swept across my forehead instead of bangs that go straight across. She was very patient with my hair- since it was very thick, long, and coarse. I could see that she was very precise and careful about my hair and what she was doing. The cool thing she did was blowdry my hair AND THEN texturize it. most stylists tend to texturize hair when its wet- so you don't really get the full effect- unless you walk around with wet hair the whole day. I had an awesome time and an even greater haircut experience. I highly highly recomment 'Impact Hair Salon', especially their stylist: Nina- although i know the other stylists are also good. I was excited to use this salon, my consultation went great and I loved what we were going to do with my hair. BUT, when I went to my appointment there was so much traffic getting into Walnut Creek due to accidents that I was 25 minutes late. I was 5 minutes away from the salon and was turned away. Okay, I was late so I understand - but after that NOBODY at the salon would even return my REPEATED calls to set up another appointment. This is hurtful and extremely RUDE!!! If not for this, I would have given them a ""Recommended."" Sometimes things happen and they need to be more understanding. more

on the impacthairsalon website, it features only the four main hairdressers, excluding nina - and that's a shame - nina deserves an assload more credit than given to her and on this review page as well.\r \r i walked into the salon about three months ago to see what impact hair salon could do to fix a horrible haircut that another hairdresser had given me a month prior. this previous hairdresser had cut my once lovely layers too short, too choppy, and worst of all - ruined my sweeping bangs by making the layers so choppy you couldn't even call them layers anymore. overall, my hair was ruined. \r \r i thought it was unrepairable, but nina - a young hairdresser (but experienced - and to my experience i've found younger hairdressers to be more adaptable and skilled at cutting hair with today's modern hairstyles) changed all that. she was very patient and listened exactly to what i wanted, and even repeated it back to be concisely to verify we were on the same page with what i wanted, then explained why her following suggestions would help correct the problems with my hair. that isn't something you find all the time with other hairdressers as they sometimes push you into a look or cut that you weren't going for.\r \r nina cut my hair with precision, following exactly what she said she was going to do. we agreed to keep my hair length, so she trimmed all of my hair except the very last back layers while still creating the illusion that my hair was still as long. she corrected all of the choppiness in my layers and bangs by blending out the layers with careful precision and detail orientedness. she smoothed out everything that was ruined about my haircut and turned it into a edgier, more voluminous one. \r \r nina is intuitive, creative, and EXTREMELY TALENTED. for hair of all types, old and new or edgier or modern etc etc, go to nina. five stars hands down.\r \r \r more

Annie did a great job on my hair! I was nervous but the end result was worth it! She did natural blonde highlights on my reddish brown mess. She listended to want I wanted and delivered! I couldn't have asked for a better cut either...I would recommend Annie to anyone, especially if you want a stylist to keep for good! \r Thanks Annie! more

Just a few years ago I needed to find a Hair Stylist that I could trust and do a great job on my hair. I like doing different things with my hair all the time, but I'm always skeptical about actually making a change. My twin sister had been going to Traci Smith at Impact Hair Salon for about a year. She loved how Traci listend to what she wanted and actually did it the exact way she wanted it. That was exactly what I was looking for. I started going to Traci about a year ago and I love her. We always have a great conversation and she always makes me feel very comfortable. I now refer all of my friends to her and they love her as well. I would highly recommend her to anyone. I moved to Clayton about 2 1/2 years ago. I needed a hairdresser locally. I am very particular about my hair. My accountant referred me to Mary Maloney. I gave her a try. Mary was patient, took her time to study my hair & how I take care of it & my routine. She cut my hair& I was SOLD! I was never going anywhere else! My hair was perfect. I have my daughters hair cut there & I have a friend in Vacaville with naturally curly hair. She has never found anyone to cut her correctly,I referred her to Mary, but I warned her. I told her once she went, NO ONE else would ever be able to cut her hair. She has compliments daily on her hair now. She loves her hair for once in her life. Mary is magical! I have been going to Dennis for over eight years and followed him to Impact Hair Salon. Dennis has 20+years experience in haircutting. He trained at Vidal Sasoon and clearly knows all about cutting hair, in so much that is all he does. He is passionate and truly love cutting hair. He is very knowledgeable in techniques, hair types and style. With his experience and talent, he can easily charge San Francisco prices for a haircut but doesnot.
