Martha is amazing...she knows pianos incredibly well, is very helpful and a pleasure to work with. She does piano restorations & repair, appraisals and also sells pianos that she restores. I was looking to buy a piano from Craigslist as a gift, and I know nothing about music. She did an onsite appraisal of one of them, and during that effort, she also showed me what to look for when buying a used piano. She was very thorough and inspected every last component, and has a detailed document she provides that outlines not just the work needed but how much it would cost. That particular piano needed too much work, but she helped me find a different one, and even provided a little assistance over the phone to avoid me having to keep paying her for multiple onsite appraisals...that sort of honesty and ethic is rare in business, and I highly respect her for that. If I had more money, I'd definitely buy one of the pianos that she's already restored. Just looking at them on her website, you can see the care and detail she puts into selecting high-quality pianos to restore, and into the restoration itself. I walked in here very kindly asking if they had a piano tuning tools for sale. The owner responded in a pretentious tone (without asking anything about me) ""No, we don't sell any tuning tools because of the huge amount of knowledge necessary to tune a piano."" I suppose I didn't fit the stereotype of someone with enough knowledge to tune a piano. I wanted to support a local business instead of buying something off the internet, but I guess my money is better spent online than with these judgmental and extremely unfriendly ""piano experts"". Unless you like being talked down to and want feel like crap for trying to support a local business stay away!! more

What a fantastic store, and what fantastic pianos! The owner spent over an hour showing me how they restore pianos to their former glory. She couldn't have been kinder or more informative: I would literally be pleased to pay money to attend a lecture of an equal caliber. I learned that much! The second I walked into this timeless workshop of vintage uprights, I felt at ease and comfortable. Never have I received such an education upon entering a piano store. At the other stores that I hurried out of, the salesmen just played loudly and quickly and would say -""Ah this is a beautiful piano"". But instead of doing that, the owner took me on a tour of the innards of a piano, giving me solid knowledgeof how to see the quality and life span of these amazing machines.
