I hadn't visited Il Posto since they changed ownership because I had heard bad things about the change. But I had friends in town who insisted on eating there, so we went. I don't know what more anyone could expect from the service or food, but everything was PERFECT. The place hadn't seemed to change at all, except for the faces.\r

The new-ish chef (Matteo?) was very charming and came to our table and explained the specials for the evening, suggested appetizers, and joined us for a champagne toast on the house. He even brought out a live lobster that was to be my friend's dinner. There are pictures of him with various celebrities and presidents at the entrance, so he's the real deal. The graceful maitre d' (who was definitely was directly from Italy) suggested the perfect food and wine pairings. And the tableside service is just like being in Italy.\r

Excellent service, excellent food, excellent wine. Il Posto deserves all of the many awards hanging on its walls (Hour Detroit Rest. of the Year, AAA 4 Diamond, Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, etc etc etc).
