Lovely place ! They have so many great things going on there. Educational series for kids, even for homeschoolers. Many trails you can do. I even took a basket weaving class there once years ago. Inside you can see a few live animals, turtles and such, and they have more educational things inside to see and a very nice gift shop. During the summer they have a flower festival and they also have several other events. more

Great place to spend a relaxing day! 8/20/2005

Ijams Nature Center is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Knox County and get back to nature. There are paths to hike, animals and plants to observe, and extremely nice people to meet. And the best part is that it is free. This is a great place to have a birthday party or just take your children for a day rather than the mall. Kids can learn a lot spending time here. They also host summer day camps while kids are out of school to keep them off the couch and in nature. more

Ijams Nature Center 8/20/2005

Ijams Nature Center is one of my favorite places to go when the weather is nice. It has many different kinds of flowers and trees. It also has a wonderful walkway. You can also have birthday parties there which I highly recommend. They are a LOT of fun and the kids really seem to enjoy it. more

A great place for an adventure hike 8/16/2005

Ijams is close to downtown yet peaceful and serene. This is a great place for a short day hike or just a casual outdoor stroll. There is a nice facility with nature and science information and it is extremely kid friendly. There is plenty of parking and several well maintained trails to choose from. Be sure to stop by the visitors center and get all the trail information before beginning especially if you have a disability or health concern. The hikes are fairly easy, but trails can be slick if it has recently rained. Ijams is also a great place for a party or other special event. Free. more

One of a kind 8/3/2005

Ijams is a very fun and educational place! Ful of animal shows with facts, to hikes in nature and all its glory! Bird shows are amazing! Staff is very well trained an d love their job! Gift shop has amazing items and very cheap! The hike is very very intense! You see all the woders of nature and feel so peaceful! I always go once a year! Very beautiful! more

Peace in the forest 7/8/2005

Ijams is an awesome place for both kids and adults. It is easy to learn a ton about nature with the smart guides. On the nature trails you can always find really cool animals such as snakes and frogs. Its relaxing and exciting at the same time. Highly recommended especially with the low prices. more
