So many choices. It was great for the whole family. The desserts are big so be prepared. The ice cream cakes are my favorite. I admit I've left my office midday once or twice to g...

Food was above average but not great. Coffee was a complete rip-off. We asked for three coffees and then changed it to lattes. We were charged for 3 lattes & 3 espressos and th...

I keeped hearing about this place, and after trying the desserts, I felt they were not freshly made! I have had much better in other places. more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 6/9/2009

I love this little place. It still has that undiscoverd feel to it. The food is top-notch, yet the atmosphere is like a friendly, unpretentious diner. As good as the entrees are the desserts are even better. The cakes great. more

One of the originals on Lincoln RD and Michigan Ave. Great food and exceptional desserts. more

Ice Box: service is lacking! 11/9/2008

Ice Box is a great rest in South Beach, friendly owner and very good food. The kind of place you want to go to regularly. However, the last two times I have been there I have had a bad experience with the wait staff. The first time I went in with a friend and the waiter knocked over the salt and sugar packet holder and just walked away, leaving the packets strewn over the table and then served attitude throughout our lunch. The second time was worse...I went in at 3pm to eat some of their great cake desserts and sat at the counter for at least 5 minutes before anyone paid me any attention - the place was empty and the waiters were all involved in some heated exchange amongst themselves. I got up and walked out. Unfortunately the place suffers from the Miami Beach problem - too much attitude by those whose job it is to wait tables in a pleasant efficient way. Pros: Good hearty food, great desserts, good value Cons: Poor service more

Horrible service!! 6/23/2008

Sad to say I had very high expectations of this place unfortunately the only thing I received besides what i ordered was attitude and no willingness to accomodate our requests. Made our experience very unpleasant..... would not go back again Cons: bad service, plus gratuity is included. more

Good desserts and sweets breakfast dishes 6/3/2008

I have been several times and always say its just ok but keep going back for some reason. The desserts are good especially the ice cream cake. The sweet breakfast dishes like pancakes and french toast are good but the egg dishes are just ok. Don't try to be healthy and get the home baked yogurt, it was terrible, flavorless and burnt. I like the cozy atmosphere. The service is ok. Pros: brunch atmosphere, mimosas Cons: savory food, sevice more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 12/14/2007

I have been going to the Ice box Cafe since it opened. I have not had the opportunity to return this past year until the other day. I must say I was very disappointed. I found the entrees overpriced and the preparation of the food poor. The service to quote another review was "tragic" and "Hostile". In short I ordered the Rack of Lamb with Asparagus and a Potato Au Gratin for $28.00. The Lamb was bathed in an overtly seasoned glaze and the potato au gratin was ice cold in the center. My entree took 20 minutes to arrive from the kitchen on a slow night and the only time a wait person approached me throughout the dinner was to take my order and deliver the food. I had to sit with a dirty plate in front of me for 5 minutes till I gave up and walked over to the register to ask for my check. No desert was ever offered. The restaurant also adds a gratuity of 18% to ALL checks a guarantee of horrid service in my book since the staff doesn't even have to work for a gratuity. The most unforgivable aspect of the restaurant is the audacity they have to serve an entree for $28.00 and give you a paper napkin. When I did dispute the 18% gratuity when presented my bill as is my right the waitress/cashier proceeded to argue with me. At no point was I asked what was wrong or was I given an apology. I have since sent the owner an email explaining the circumstances of the evening and have not heard back from him to date. I would avoid this restaurant at all costs. more

It appears that this is now just another tourist trap focused on turning and burning customers. Cons: Waiters are the worst and add 18% to all checks. Food quality and preparation needs work. more

Best brunch on the beach! 9/8/2007

I've gone to Icebox almost every week for a year and I love it now more than ever!! The breakfast menu is great, with highlights like the omelettes and the smoothies. All the cakes are amazing and the price actually is pretty good for Miami Beach. The Lincoln Rd. location is great for people-watching. Pros: Food, atmosphere, location, parking Cons: Mediocre service more

Good reminder of bohemian uk eatery 6/1/2007

I want to write an awful review to put others off but can't... Felt at home as soon as we entered and pleasantly surprised with the extent of the menu. Dishes to satisfy all. Has all that the top restaurants have but without the pretenciousnous... Love it. Both huge fans of michelin stars etc back home but this holds its own with range of menu. Will be returning, brunch, lunch still to try. Pros: Off the beaten track Cons: Tables quite close more

Very unpleasant experience. 3/4/2007

The cooks do their job here, I must say the food is actually pretty good, but it's so far overshadowed by the horrible service that I will never go back. I can easily say it's the worst service I've ever had. If it's standard run-of-the-mill service I'll always tip 20%, and I had to struggle to get myself to cough up 8%. Exactly as the last reviewer stated, I watched several tables come in after me and get served their food first. The tables for two are so close together that you might as well be sitting at the same table with the rest of the restaurant. Some of the wait staff actually works, but with really bad attitudes (probably b/c of poor management). When we did get our food, it was about 1/2 of the things we ordered, yet our check of course didn't miss a thing, so there was that whole ordeal of getting that straightened out. Again, the food is good, the deserts look great , so I guess if you could order to-go, to get the food, but not have to deal with restaurant itself , it might be alright. more

the dessert was ok 1/5/2007

i heard so much about this place from my cousin and the daily candy miami that i thought i would try it during my recent visit. i thought it was just ok. the place itself is small but comfortable. the service was a little bit wanting. my friend asked for a glass of water and coffee. she got the coffee but she never got her water (i got mine). the espresso ice cream was pretty good though. more

Service bad, walked out without ordering. 12/22/2006

I got an icy response when i asked to view the menu. Waited 5 minutes for someone to seat us. We waited 25 minutes while 3 tables around us that came in after us had there orders taken. We got up and left. Pros: Nice looking interior, nice looking desserts in the case Cons: Awful Service more

Pretty good brunch!! 11/17/2006

After living in Chicago and New York city for the last five years, I trully found it hard to find a good brunch locale in south Florida. This place is as close to Chi town brunch as it gets. The first time I went, I had their homemade granola and yogurt (all right); the second time I had the chocolate /french toast stuffed with marshmellow (delicious) and my grandmother had pancakes layered with peaches and ice cream (very good): the last time I went with my boyfriend he had the tilapia with sweet potato mash (very good), unfortunately, I had already eaten... but I enjoyed the wine from their pretty fair selection. They do need more pancake/french toast options :) Pros: Good brunch Cons: Service is slow, they need to hire more wait staff, poor lighting (very very bright) even dinner time :( more

Curry Chicken Breast AMAZING! German Chocolate Ice Cream Cake to die! 11/6/2006

I've been going to Ice Box since it started out as a small bakery maybe 8 years ago. They were an overnight success and expanded several years ago to include a full menu. Pros: Deserts WOW, Entrees AMAZING, consistently exceptional Cons: Very popular so there can be a wait (usually prompt), a bit noisy inside at busy times more

You will not find better deserts!! 7/21/2006

This is the place for exotic and intriguing deserts, not to mention phenominal!! Great ice cream cakes, cookies, brownies and what ever may be the specialty of the day. The draw back is that you are never sure what deserts are available on any given day - always something different, but you'll find something enjoyable everytime. more

A South Beach Jem 11/3/2005

Ice Box Cafe is one of those rare finds in Miami Beach, just off Lincoln Road to allow for an very cozy atmosphere. I ate here for both Brunch and Dinner and had the homemade granola for brunch and Talipia for dinner. Both of the presenations were excellent but the taste were amazing, especially for the price point. I saved room for the Raspberry Chocolate Mouse Cake and walked away more than happy about my experience. Highly Recommended. Pros: Quality, Location, Atmosphere more

Maybe for a small group? 10/15/2005

As brunch turned into a late lunch, we sadly realized that Ice Box Cafe isn't the best place for groups. The food went back twice: wrong orders, forgotten requests. It is a cute place, but the food is average and the service needs work -- even for Miami. Pros: Location, Decor Cons: Service more

Very good 5/1/2005

Laidback atmosphere with reasonable prices (especially for Lincoln Road) for very good food. The seared tuna was excellent. They also have a nice selection of wines that are considerable bargains. Pros: Wine selection, Prices more

elegant yet sinful 8/13/2002
