this is a fairly new facility to cedar rapids. the arena serves two purposes to help pay for itself and one of them is to open it to the public for ice skating. it is one great place to take your kids in the afternoons of evenings to enjoy some excecise or teach your kids how to ice skate. they also have lessons available to everyone if extra help is needed. more

Great... 8/11/2005

The Cedar Rapids Ice Arena (CRIA) opened January 8, 2000. The facility was built with public and private dollars and is owned by the City of Cedar Rapids. CRIA hosts two sheets of ice, a pro shop, party rooms and video games. The NHL rink is home to the USHL's Cedar Rapids Roughriders. The ice arena is a great addition to the community and is well used. There are a great many budding figure skaters who are very glad to not have to make the trip to Iowa City. more

Ice Skating 7/13/2005

The building is very nice and spacious. I didn't particularly care for it because it is so cold inside. But it really needs to be for the ice. I did enjoy watching the zamboni clear the ice. The children have fun during the public skate. Be sure to bring helmets for the kids incase of falls. more

Family Fun Skating 7/13/2005

There are several things you can do at this Ice Arena. There is Public skating, figure skating, hockey leagues, skating lessons, parties (private and business). Home of our own hockey team – Chrome Horse Saloon. There is a Pro shop. Plus some video games to pass the time. Plus the normal concessions are available as well. Tickets to games are reasonable and it is fun to attend a hockey game! Exciting and fast moving. more
