Best restaurant experience I've had in years! 4/3/2012

I found this place completely by accident. I had tried 2 other Italian places my GPS recommended but they were closed because it was a Monday. I am so glad. This place is beautiful and quaint. Beautiful wood floors, cranberry walls, rich tapestries, pretty lighting. Could be romantic but wasn't stuffy and could also be great for a family. The staff was nice enough to seat each group away from each other to offer privacy. I hate when the entire place is empty and they seat you on top of each other. The waiter was an older man, so nice and welcoming. He described the specials very well- tons of specials. We were given a complimentary appetizer of zucchini cakes and some sort of pureed red pepper sauce- delicious. The pureed mushroom soup was so good. The pasta/shrimp/scallops/tomatoes/broccoli rabe/garlic dish was the best pasta dish I've ever had. Ever. While waiting for our creme brulee we were given complimentary biscotti- absolutely delicious. Very nice wine list. Very attentive, friendly staff. Beautiful little town- will definitely go back to walk around. One appetizer, two entrees, and one dessert ended up being $65. Worth every penny. more

so disappointed 1/12/2010

My husband and I booked the place for the special event and after agreeing to the prices and food selection they took a deposit. They called us the next day and upped the prices on everything...food and drinks. We canceled the party!! Never again would I step into that place. I would not recommend this place! more

Beware 5/6/2009

Explained I had shellfish allergy. Restaurant brings to table potato croquets cooked in same oil as shellfish!!! and says that I am mistaken. Food was okay and Jimmy, the owner, was nice. He tried to make up for error with extra desserts. Prices were in line with other restaurants. We will not go back. Pros: Another Italian restaurant Cons: order carefully more

The top Dining and time spending experience for a very reasonable price 2/6/2009

First of all, if you read my review, I want you to know that original Il Sogno used to be located in the middle of one of the most luxury districts in New York- Upper East Side. The Restaurant has been always been packed with beautiful, sophisticated and friendly clientele. Jimmy knows how to satisfy those who are really picky in how their lobster bisque, filet mignon, sea bass, oysters, crabs stuffed mushrooms and other goodies were prepared! His food has always seemed exclusive for my husband, my family and me. \r I also really enjoy Jimmy?s (that is the way I call Il Sogno) as he is talented in satisfying a woman, which is asking for no salt, no fat, light, but fulfilling tasty meal!!\r Il Sogno is a family restaurant with the most casual atmosphere. Besides fine dining for a reasonable price you get the best personal experience from communicating with Jimmy, his wife, his servers and management. His employees are very professional and very attentive to every little detail of customer satisfaction. \r Enjoy your great time in Jimmy?s! Don?t drink too much wine! He has really good and rear ones!\r And don?t forget to say a big HI from Liuda and Marc!\r more

Great New Restaurant in Port Chester 1/28/2009

My wife and I have been to Il Sogno twice. The food is excellent. The wine is excellent and Jimmy and his wife Luanna are wonderful hosts. We already have another reservation for 8 upcoming and my wife and I are spreading the word. more

Excellent, Fresh Italian in Casual, Friendly Environment with Terrific Service, Great Wines 12/22/2008

Jimmy's new location in Port Chester is a home-run! Just went with my wife for our first try and were very impressed. Food is creative yet simple focusing on fresh & delicious... This is high-quality NYC Italian... elegant dishes in a casual setting. The bread sets the tone (wam and fresh), appetizers are flavorful and interesting (not too heavy), pastas are made to order - quality... Have you ever said ""I wish there was a reliable, high-quality Italian restaurant in Westchester like we had in NYC""...? Well this is one. The meal was terrific, dining room spacious, comfortable and attractive... Go there... Jimmy is a most gracious host. This place will be a Westchester staple, soon. Check it out. Pros: High quality fresh Italian with good service at reasonable price Cons: Views of the main road out the window dont exactly remind me of Tuscany more

BEST PLACE EVER 12/22/2007

Il Sogno is a wonderful place. I went there and i was seated very quickly. The food was tremendously amazing. The staff was very polite. The owner Jimmy is a good friend of mine. He is from Montenegro and he has working in the restaurant business for a while now. He now has opened a beautiful ITALIAN restaurant. He is very nice, caring, and his staff seems to love him. The staff seems very happy there. The prices aren't expensive at all. The prices are very reasonable for how amazing the food is. I would recommend this restaurant for New York city people and tourists. more

Extremely Disappointed! 5/2/2007

My husband & I live in the area and visited Il Sogno for the 2nd time this season. We thought it was going to be our new summer spot and we were extremely wrong. The waiter & manager were rude and the food was extremely overpriced for what we ordered. Save your money for someplace better! I would NOT recommend going here. more

BEST patio in NYC! 4/1/2007

we were quickly seated. the patio was amazing, especially on the day when it was 72 degrees out. food was scrumptious and the waiters were very attentive as my family and i had one of the best meals in new york. PS - the chicken martini is absolutely fabulous - highly recommended. more

Really,really BAD,i'm so upset 3/21/2007

I was thinking i am gonna have a nice dinner in that place that one of my emplo.recommanded to me,but beside the expensive prices that it has was nothing more.I had a bussines dinner there but it's a shame.Nice place to say but service was BAD,and we had problems with the food.I wouldn't recommand to nobody. more

BEST RISOTTO! 3/18/2007

great food. good service. just started coming and the staff is very welcoming. i would suggest it to tourists and new yorkers. Pros: great service and managemant. more

Wouldn't waste my time in any other place. 3/18/2007

I have been a regular at Il Sogno since the first year it opened and I love the variety of food and service provided. I go there for family outings and business meetings; the owner shows utter respect and courtesy to my clients and me. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a fine dining experience. For a restaurant in midtown Manhattan, the prices are very reasonable. Pros: great patio that holds over 200 people. more

Bad choise 3/13/2007

Food was ok,but not great, drinks were good, service was rude...I would say this is not a restaurant for New Yorker...(maybe for tourists) more

Spend your $$$ else were...! 1/28/2007

we were party of 6 with reservation, place was empty no table was ready for us.Later on the food came cold on the table,no one asked us if we would like another round of drinks,we had to call the waiter and ask him for more drinks...! more

Rude 2/1/2006

We made reservations for 6 and we specifically said we wanted a quiet table. Yet the maitre d still sat us next to the bar. We asked for a quieter table but he said he couldn't do it even though the restaurant was half empty. The place was very loud. more

Befitting Heaven 1/28/2006

From a recommenation from my local spa, Acqua Santa Spa, I eat at Il Sogno. Bravo to the Owners, Jimmy and Luana. I have travelled extensively within the boarders of Italy an d I must say that this restaurant is just outstanding when it comes to Italian dishes, ""Molto Buono"". I have gone to this place for the last 6-months and the food remains great and the service is also outstanding. Now I wait for spring so I can eat ""al fresco"" (outside). Now owner I just ask Jimmy or his right hand man, ""AJ"" for the specials or their suggestions for my dinner... ""Molto Glazie"" Il Sogono........ Pros: food, staff, surroundings/music more

True Italian 1/28/2006

When I moved from the Village to midtown and found Acqua Santa Spa, the owner of Acqua Santa Spa highly recommended this true and authentic Italian eatery. The owner and staff are gracious, helpful and make me laugh with their wit and humor. The food is outstanding and the bar and wine list are outstanding. I have reccommended this establishment to my friends. Pros: Great Food, Great Bar, "Al Fresco" dining more

User review by mebee 11/14/2005

This small tucked away spot is how I like is because as of now you can get tables pretty easy, as soon as everyone hears about this place I will not be able to get a table anymore and my special place for great food and drinks will be just another see and be seen places. more

Privately Tucked Away 5/26/2005

This is the perfect spot that is tucked away in midtown, and has a beautiful outdoor patio which can hold up to about 200 people. It's great for parties and special events. The food is exceptional, and the service is remarkable. They have a fanominal wine list. Pros: service, food, warm atmosphere more

Finally 5/25/2005

Fancy dining without the pretentiousness of most of the restaurants in midtown. I drove in from Long Island and found parking easily right by the restaurant. The hostess is fabulous and promptly directed me and my family to a table. The waiter I had was extremely attentive. The food was scrumptious and uncomparable. I've been to a lot of Italian restaurants and this is the only one that offers an italian-esque ambiance and quality food. I felt like I was in villa roma eating grandma's meal. more
