Meets, exceeds expectations 3/9/2012

This is not the Ritz, but we've been there lots of times and generally the food is tasty, portions are generous, prices are very reasonable and the servers are nice and efficient. Also they have a number of good under-600 calorie menu options. more

The staff here are beyond GREAT! 2/28/2012

I want to give a big shout out to the staff (especially Crystal and Alex) at the Maplewood IHOP for their efforts to accomidate our group of 9 from a local day program that provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities. They were awesome throughout the entire expierence, even when we had some behavioral issues after completing our delicious short stacks of pancakes on National Pancake Day. Thanks so much for helping us to take part in the event! more

Don't like cold food that is supposed to be hot! 2/1/2012

First off, when you come in the door, you shouldn't see a waitress throwing dishes in the dirty dish bin so hard that it sounded like everything broke. Second. When you order soup, it should be served before the main meal, in time to eat it before the rest of the food is brought out, not at the same time. Third, the potatoes and gravy should have been at least warm. They were not. Nothing like eating cold food! Fourth. We should have been given a discount for the rotten service, I only rated it one star cause it wouldn't send this without a rating, My rating should be not any part of a star. I wouldn't even give this place a sixteenth of a star. There is no reason for this. I will not go back there. more

Terrible food 12/2/2011

We went with the whole family one day to IHOP in Maplewood. It was terrible. The pancakes have a really awful taste. I've actually heard this from people who have gone there after I was there. The restaurant has an old smoking section (surrounded in glass) that they tried to put us in. I walked in and after 2-3 years of a smoking ban at least, this room still had a stench of old smoke in the room. It was disgusting. I said we had to sit elsewhere and the hostess wasn't thrilled with my request (we hadn't even sat down yet). The place is loud and you feel like you are sitting right on top of the people next to you. I wouldn't go here again. more

Not going to go back 1/8/2007

If they can't even make their namesake (pancakes) better than any other breakfast restaurant, what can they tout? DO NOT GET THE STUFFED FRENCH TOAST unless you are ok with it actually just being a tiny plate with a hole-less donut covered with fruit sauce. There's seriously nothing ""french toast"" about it. Also, beware if you are not a fan of the fake-butter flavor in food, because many of their items do have this (like the hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, etc.). One more thing: if you like bacon, and would order it at a breakfast restaurant, consider yourself warned because my boyfriend and I ended up discarding more of the ""bacon"" than there was edible parts. It's not just fatty, it's entirely flabby fat that makes up the majority of the ""bacon"" - inedible fat. If you just want regular old pancakes, & IHOP's close, go for it, but if you have ANY other breakfast option, for pete's sake, don't go here! Pros: It's close by Cons: Was that really ""food""? more
