Two words: inflated prices!
So here's the scam: offer what sounds like a generous warranty on a new car. To keep the warranty in service, the customer must bring the car in to the dealership for regularly scheduled maintenance - at absurdly inflated prices.
The service manager was pushing me hard to replace the transmission and transaxle fluids at $199/a fluid. I used to work on my cars: that's a ridiculous price, even if the drain bolts aren't easily accessible for an amateur. For the mechanics at the dealership this job is a cakewalk, but most New Yorkers would have no idea of this.
Unless the car you bought is a lemon, I'm pretty sure you'd save a lot of money having the car serviced and maintained at a reputable neighborhood garage.
I would recommend the cars they sell, but I think the service dept's prices are in la-la land.
