I called and asked Tom if he charged for his trip out to the house to check and repair my jacuzzi. He said he would not charge me. So, I've scheduled an appt for him to come and repair the jacuzzi. I was not home but my husband was. Tom gave my husband an estimate of $150.00 for the repair and my husband approved it. My husband paid Tom for his work. When I came home and saw the bill, there was a charge for $75.00 labeled Call. I called Tom to ask about the charges, he did not return my call. I called him again and finally got hold of him. I inquired about the charge and he said, "" I told your husband that it was going to cost around $150.00 and he approved. So I fixed it."" So I said, ""But you told me that you would not charge me for the trip."" And Tom said, "" I was not going to charge you for the call if you chose not to have me repair the jacuzzi but since you chose me to repair the jacuzzi, I will charge you for the call."" Then he added, "" You can't expect me to come out there and fix the jacuzzi for $69.00. (Parts $49.00 plus labor $20.00 **His rate was $80 per hour** )"" So I said, ""I knew what was wrong with the jacuzzi but I did not know how much it will cost to repair it. In this case, it happened to be $69.00"" Tom refused to refund me the $75 for the Call. I felt deceived by his business practice.
