DON'T STAY HERE !! IMPERSONAL & RACIST STAFF 11/4/2011

If youre a people of color...of any kind, DO NOT STAY here ! the staff, esp. the check in staff ( the niggah's) will put the race issue to the table, and all they do is to check you in, i guess to some people, checking people is hard to do. Also, some of the staff here are SOO impersonal. Asking for a late check out for a 5night stay they cant even do that. Kept knocking at my door to do housekeeping ( even the tag says "" donot distub"" sign in on. and didnt stop 'til I open the door and told them hold on to the cleaning. The lady bartender was nice and warm and the man during my check out was courteous and nice. They are doing a renovation, again, hopefully, they will also overhaul the attitude. more

Awesome Hotel 11/11/2010

As many times as I've visited NY (about 15 times), last year was my first time that I stayed at the Grand Hyatt/ Grand Central Station. It's in walking distance to everything (Time Square, Central Park, major shopping districts and some of the best restuarants in the country). The ambiance was nice and relaxing. The hotel employees were attentive and outgoing, the restuarant food was deliscious, and the rooms...though small, were very clean and fresh! I'll be traveling to NY again in just a few weeks, and once again...I'll be staying at the Grand Hyatt/Grand Central Station! more

Love This Hotel. 8/26/2009

I have stayed here many times. It is a beautiful hotel. Pros: Right by Grand Central Station more

Great Hotel-Lousy Concierge Desk 3/16/2008

After a smooth check-in and a beautiful room last weekend, we went downstairs looking for a good Steakhouse for a pre-theater meal. We were recommended Gallagher's. We had already been there and were not crazy about the restaurant, so we did not want to go back. Unfortunately the concierge was insistant that, that was the restaurant to go to. We have been to the Hyatt in the past and never experienced such insensitivity. Where are all the nice people? We find it hard to beleive that this is the ONLY steakhouse out there. After all we are in NYC. What's up with that??!!! Pros: Great Location, beautiful Hotel Cons: Really Lousy Concierge desk more

Good hotel all around 4/16/2007

My husband and I spent a long weekend in NYC and were on a budget. The Grand Hyatt had several specials that met our requirements. We thought because we were skimping on cost the hotel wouldn't be as nice but we were wrong. We had a very early Saturday arrival and the hotel was able to get us a room to checkin. They asked if we would be ok with a handicap room, which we were. Turns out, the handicap room actually provided more space than a normal room. The only main difference we noticed was the bathroom being a bit lower. We read complaints about the space of the room but we found it to be rather large for NYC. We also read reviews that the bed was not comfortable but we thought it was quite comfortable. We had drinks at the hotel bar one evening and had a delightful experience. The bartender was very personable. At checkout, the gentleman was very curtious and asked us specific questions about our stay. Although our room did not have much of a view, it was a great location and central to everything. The hotel is literally directly connected to Grand Central Station. There were many good restaurants in the area. Overall, we had an excellent experience and would stay at this hotel again. Pros: Service, Space, Ambience, Elegance more

Excellent location and beautiful hotel 2/27/2007

My boyfriend and I stayed here recently and we were very impressed. The hotel is beautiful and the room was very comfortable. There is a huge sitting area in the lobby that was very comfortable and great for relaxing. The location was also ideal being right next to Grand Central. We were able to hop on and off the subway easily and because of that got to see a lot of New York during our stay. The hotel was also within walking distance of Times Square and other tourist locations. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay here again. more

Superb central location; courteous helpful staff; well-appointed, comfortable, fairly large rooms 8/21/2006

Stayed here for four days in August 2006. Now known as the Grand Hyatt New York. Excellent service at check in and throughout stay. Adjacent and connceted to Grand Central Station, it could not be in a more convenient location. Rooms are modern, uncluttered and quite nicely appointed. Some bathrooms are larger than others. Back rooms do not enjoy much of a view, but they are quiet. Rooms overlooking 42nd Street have better views, but are slightly noisier, but not at all a distraction. Pricey at full rate, but I would not hesitate to return or to recommend. Pros: Location, service, room quality Cons: A bit pricey more

Grand Hyatt 5/29/2003

This was a very nice ane luxurious hotel. It had great food, great service, and it was in a good location. Pros: inexpensive, beautiful lobby, nice rooms more

The Grand Place 1/20/2003

We could not have been more happy with this hotel.Price, service, and friendly people everywhere. Pros: Good Price, Great Service, Time Square Cons: None, None, None more

Don't stay here! 12/9/2002

The rooms were dirty and the staff in the restaurant was appallingly rude. The Howard Johnson's at Newark Airport is probably nicer than this place, and probably costs a lot less than the ridiculous $300/night (w/ Triple A ""discount"") room. Save your money and stay somewhere less expensive with nicer rooms and a nicer staff. more

Good Value 12/3/2002

Stayed for 4 nights in November. The hotel itself is nothing special but the room was a decent size with all of the amenities I would have expect. The bathroom could use some updating however the bed was very comfortable. There was no street noise from our room but you could hear doors closing and people talking in the hall. The location is great, right by Grand Central Station. There is a good fitness room as well. We paid 140 per night on Priceline which is excellent value for this hotel. Pros: Location Cons: Bathroom more

Professionals, don't stay here. 8/15/2002

They knew I was staying there for a big exam, they put me in a room across from doors that slammed all night. I requested a move, they moved me to a room with broken air, it smelled horrible and had other people's trash everywhere. Then back to the loud room. Room service order wrong, blamed it on me, they didn't even bring what was on their receipt, and still charged me. I WILL NEVER stay here again. Neither room was nice (even assuming no smell or noise). Pros: lobby, location Cons: understaffed, dingy rooms, unhelpful staff more

""Outstanding"" 8/2/2002

RGNY The rooms are excellent, service fit for a king, and one of the best locations in the city. And don't forget The Commodore Grill and Bar. The drinks are great, cigar smoking allowed and the Pan-Seared Sea Bass is outstanding. Pros: Great location, Excellent service, Outstanding food more

Great Location and View! 6/11/2002

Must disagree with the ridiculous ""2"" below. The Grand Hyatt is located between two of New York's most distinctive landmarks -- the Chrysler Bldg (across Lexington) and Grand Central Terminal (next door). I'm sure not all rooms have a great view (hotel is ""H"" shaped and some rooms might look back in on the hotel), but if that is the case, request another room!!!) Try to get one on 28th fl or higher. The 2 times I've been there I could look out and see 1) the Chrysler Bldg art deco gargoyles and 2) overlooking Grand Central's Beaux Arts magnificence. Rooms were nice, but not glitzy (get AAA disccount for $169 on weekends). Restaurants pricey, room service same, but very good. Great location, minutes from downtown or uptown whether by cab subway or just plain walking. Pros: View, Location, Service Cons: Expensive more

DEFINITELY NOT GRAND 6/8/2002

Just returned from a stay at the 'grand"", which it is not. The lobby was okay-but once we got off elevator on the 22nd floor-hallways were shabby, room was small, and the bathroom had loose tiles, mildew, not nicely done or maintained. We immediately called front desk, they were not very helpful. The crowning touch-view of a brick wall..... Pros: location Cons: room size, upkeep, service more
