Hush Salon

No pretention here and that's what I like. As soon as I walked in I felt at ease, no feelings of not being ""hip"" enough. Just nice people with tons of skill. I am not going to go into great detail, but I highly recommend this place A) For the great haircut I got. I saw Carlos and he cut my hair exactly the way I wanted. I told him what I was looking for and then he gave his opinion of what would work best and did an awesome job fixing my severely mangled tresses. And B) Everyone is nice. I have been to 3 other ""highly"" rated salons that I found on Yelp and each one was worst than the last. I always felt too uncool in the other places, like my pants weren't tight enough or the cut I wanted wasn't asymmetrical. If you are looking for down to earth people that know how to cut hair then you should give this place a try. A little spendy but well worth it! more

I have just moved over from the U.K in May, I had my haircut just before I came over by my friend who has been cutting my hair for 7 years and knows what I like/don't like so I was very nervous about starting again with someone new! I had put my haircut off for 4 months! Yes 4 months! I was starting to look like a hobo! So I decided to bite the bullet and go for it but didn't know which salon to go to, I didn't want my first hair experience in philly to be a scare cut and have me fleeing back to blighty with my tail between my legs begging my friend to cut my hair and promising to never leave again! My hubby tearing his own hair out due to the vast amount of moaning from me about where to go and what if I don't like it, what if I have to shave my head straight after my new haircut because I hate it so much took it upon himself (in desperation) and googled the best hair salon in Philly and up popped this little gem of a place on CItysearch and thanks to everyone taking the time to write a review it persuaded me to go with very little hyperventilating. I totally loved the place, it's very chilled and not overcrowded. A very nice lady called Pam cut my long hair, she really took her time and did exactly what I wanted, I love my hair and I am already hooked! I have to give credit to my hubby for finding Hush for me and to all the reviews and of course Pam! Over and out! more

I am torn between writing this review and keeping this secret all to myself, (even though it?s kind of already out considering they were voted best of Philly!) but since Adrienne and Carlos are rock stars, I want to give them the credit they deserve. more

Hush Salon in Philladelphia has a wonderful vibe and beautiful light. The staff is friendly and funny. Adrienne is fantastic with fine hair and since she started to do my hair for eleven years ago I have followed her every where ! I even take the bus from New york to have my hair done by her-she is worth 9 hours for a hairdo! I would recommend this salon to all my friends! After quite a few terrible Hair cuts in Philly (ending in Tears) I have always headed back to NY to get my hair cut by my favorite stylist there. But after reading reviews I thought I would give HUSH a try.. .and I came out feeling 10x better than I ever have. I met with Pam - she was meticulous - and a pleasure to talk with. The salon itself was quite, warm and charming - not once during my appointment did I notice that I was in a gym. And the head massage I received while getting my hair washed was so relaxing and lovely. I will recommend HUSH to everyone! Pros: Warm tea, great head massage & FABULOUS cut! more

I was nervous to try a new salon but was comfortable from the moment I walked in. Ruth did an amazing job on my color and Pam gave me the best haircut. I saw Hush in Philadelphia magazine and decided to give it a try. I have been going to the same salon for 15 years, so to no surprise I was very hesitant on trying somewhere new. Ruth did my color and did an amazing job!!! It looks very natural and soft. Pam did my haircut..she too was amazing. Adrienne and Carlos are awesome! I have been going to them for a year now, and I won't ever go anywhere else. Adrienne is superb at color, and will guide you towards the perfect color for both your skin and personality... She is fabulous, and will make you look and feel amazing! I've been a devotee of Adrienne for nearly 10 years in NY -- and when she's busy, I would happily go to Carlos or Pam (all of whom are now in Philly!). They all have the same great, funny, relaxed vibe and it's a pleasure to spend the hour with them. What I love about going is that while they offer thoughts or suggestions about your style, they always ask you FIRST what you are looking for, and work with that. I've never felt pushed or overly encouraged to do something I wasn't comfortable with! And they really take into account your lifestyle (ie, I am super lazy with my hair, and they always give me a cut that's pretty, chic, and just-edgy-enough while still being very low-maintenance). I should add, my husband, who is a total boy's boy, spent 29 years of his life happily going to a regular barbershop. He now rearranges his work schedule to see Carlos. I went to Hush for the first time this Saturday. I felt as though I was in good hands from start to finish. One of the things that I enjoyed most about my visit was that they told me how amazing I was going to look with my new style from the beginning. It made me feel confident that they were going to do a good job because they were confident in their skills. Adrienne did my color and while chatting during the process, she made me feel like we had been friends for years. Pam did my cut and she did an AMAZING job!! She paid very close attention to detail and as a result every hair lays perfectly. The next day, when I had to do my hair myself, I hardly had to do anything to style it because it just fell into place. I would recommend this salon to anyone. I don't know where to start, because my whole experience at this salon was excellent. Adrienne did a corrective color on my box-dyed black hair which is a nightmare to get out. The whole process didn't take very long, and she took me from a jet black to a beautiful mocha brown with no brassiness in sight! Carlos then cut my hair, and did an amazing job!! Unfortunately I have recently moved so I am not able to go there anymore, but I highly recommend this salon to everyone in Philly. I read about BangSalon on Daily Candy and after seeing 12 five star reviews on Citysearch I thought it was worth a shot to give my blah haircut a pick me up. Carlos did the trick & if there were six stars I would be giving it to this salon. Great decor and artwork, professional and friendly staff, clean building, and most important - a haircut I was happy with when I walked out the door AND after I styled it on my own. Carlos heard that I wanted a cut that was fresh and professional, but couldn't spend allot of time on it becasue I have a young baby. He gave me honest feedback and tips to make sure I would be able to recreate the look at home. I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia and will gladly be making the trip back. Just got a haircut with Carlos and am extremely pleased. He consulted before cutting, and was honest with me about what my long, straight hair is capable of. The cut itself is wonderful, and I've received positive comments from every friend who's seen it. I also enjoyed being in the relaxing, stylish, and modern salon. When I recently moved from NY to Philadelphia, a friend told me about a hair salon in Center City opened by a husband and wife team from NY who had also just moved back to Philly. I went to Carlos for a cut, and will never ever have my hair cut by anyone else while he's still in business. I also had a keratin treatment from Adrienne, and it was without exaggeration, life changing. She's an amazing colorist too - I can't wait to get highlights this spring. I recommend this salon to anyone who asks, and even those who don't. The real proof is my husband, who had always believed men don't need anyone but a good old fashioned barber shop. After a recent hair mishap at the barber, Carlos jumped in and fixed my husband's hair. He now too vows never to have his hair cut by anyone else.
