We bought our first floor from Hurst Hardwoods a couple years ago and were very happy with the service. So when we bought a new house we went back to them to buy again.
At first everything was going good sales rep very nice, we had to postpone the sale a couple of times due to the fact our house closing date kept getting pushed back. We were finely able to close on the house and ordered the floors. The floors were delivered to our house and after two weeks of them acclimating in the house we ere ready to install them. When we took them out of the box 60 to 70 percent started warping. We called Hurst Hardwoods to see what they thought and the sales rep was on vacation. The owner of the company took our call and right away he was being rude and sarcastic. he stated to me "what do we need floors in our house for" He gave me the number to the manufacturer so I called them and the contact person called one of his installers and we did a three way call. After explaining the situation to the owner and the installer, they agreed I did everything I was supposed to do to prepare the wood for install. The Owners installer stated he personally would not install the wood and to return it.
We made another trip up to Hurst Hardwoods to see if they would switch out the floors the owner agreed much to my surprise! But then the owner started making all kinds of remarks and being very disrespectful. At one point he even stated: “How much time do you think I have to spend with you?" At that point we were maybe there for a half hour. He continued to make comments as he was checking prices and being very rude.
We finely found a floor that we were happy with but it was costing us $1,900 more. The owner was still making remarks and being disrespectful. I finely cut him off and told him he was being a jerk, he started to make excuses when I cut him off again and said there's no excuse for how he was treating us. We just want to move forward we had enough on our plate without dealing with this jerk. After threaten to take our money back and leaving we finely came to agreement and made the switch. The owner then came up to me and told me he was sorry for the way he treated us, but then started telling me how stressful this job was and that he was bipolar. I responded that I appreciated him working this out with us but that there was no excuse for his behavior. The floors arrived a day later in a van all stacked crazy. So I took pictures before the worker unloaded them. A few weeks later as I was installing the floors I was disappoint in how easy the floor scratched, it was very disappointing. I have been installing floors for many years and have never seen floors scratch so easily. After a while I realized the floors weren’t scratching that easy there were already scratched as I took them out the boxes.
Today I called them to see if I could get enough flooring replaced to finish the floors when the sale rep started yelling at me telling me there not responsible for and of the scratches. I sent him a picture of how they were delivered and he still stated that we have been nothing but problems and were just trying to screw them. So here we are getting ready to talk to a lawyer to see if we have any recourse. As far as the floor goes my wife is eight months pregnant and the floors are not finished. And it looks like if we want them finished anytime soon we will need to find another seller to make the purchase and eat the cost of the eight boxes.
I would recommend you do not do business with Hurst Hardwoods. There are other company's out there! Even Home Depot would be a better buy.
Hurst Hardwoods Is Not The Company You Want To Do Business With!!!
