Hunnington Farms

I became acquainted with Hunnington Farms through friends in New Orleans who had gotten two beautiful dogs from Hunnington. We now have two goldens from Hunnington. The 11 year old is gorgeous, super sweet and everything you could ask for in a dog. She is an angel in dog fur. She has no medical issues and the vet remarked yesterday what great shape she is in for her age. Our second is a eighteen months old. She is smart, smart, and quite simply the most beautiful dog I have ever seen. She is a joy. We also have several friends here in Lafayette who have gotten goldens from Hunnington. Again, they are gorgeous dogs who are happy and healthy. Their families adore their dogs. Leslie shows buyers all of the information about the parents and their x-rays for hip and elbow dysplasia as well as that same information for several generations. The Hunnington dogs we have know have all been healthy beautiful dogs with exceedingly nice temperaments. Some are big dogs and some are not. They are everything you could ask for in a dog and more. The kennel has a number of dogs, but they all look clean, happy and healthy. The folks who are posting negative comments about Hunnington must have an agenda. They don't seem to have any personal experience with the kennel or the dogs. Pros: Best Goldens Anywhere Cons: Absolutely None more

I recently purchased a golden from Huntington Farms and toured the whole facility. The people writing these bad reviews obviously haven't seen the facility. It is clean, the dogs have nice size runs, there is no oder and the dogs have no fleas. Sounds like someone is jealous to me. Our puppy is only 6 mos old and already knows over ten different commands. He is happy, healthy and extremely outgoing. I have been asked by several people where we got him and complimented on how beautiful he is. I think someone is just pissed because they don't have 35 yrs experience to back them. You obviously can't afford one or you have some you can't sell because maybe they're not as good a dog. Pros: Highly intelligent dogs more

I recently took my family to visit Hunnington Farms so my children could see where their ""Nana"" was born. The entire visit was such a delight, starting with playing with the puppies, to helping to exercise older goldens, and ending with playing with ""Larry"" the goat. My kids will never forget their wonderful day at Hunnington. Pros: Great Place more

I got my 5 year old female from Hunnington. Calm, sweet, affectionate, incredibly well behaved, was so easy to train to live in the house. Never nervous. Large but not overweight at 90 lb, so you need to want a big dog to consider Hunnington. Everywhere we go people comment that she is one of the most beautiful they've ever seen. Very healthy except bad skin problems, nearly constant skin infections and I spent a lot of money on vets before we got her stable on Comfortis for fleas and weekly skin allergy shots she will have to take forever. Now her skin is fine. I would do it again, shots and all, to have her. We have had other Goldens and love the breed but her personality, beauty and temperment stand out even among Goldens. I have just stumbled upon this site of reviews and was shocked to read the negative feedback! I have visited Hunnington Farms many times while purchasing my golden along with bringing friends in the past to purchase their puppies. All have been totally satisfied! The bad reviews sound like jealous competitors TRYING to do harm. How childish! Pros: wonderful breeder more

Upon my visit to Hunnington Farms Kennel, I was very impresed with the cleanliness of the farm and overall health of the dogs. My vet recommended them for the purchase of our golden retriever puppy. We couldn't be happier!! Our vet also had wonderful things to say about their dogs. I had to write this after reading the nasty reviews that someone posted. I have found many people with Hunnington Dogs since purchasing ours, and they are all well pleased with their pets!!! Pros: Lots of care and Love more

This is a money making operation -not one looking to produce healthy examples of the breed. Limited knowledge of genetics. Ask local vets for advice. Cons: earns a living producing poor quality dogs more

I can't say enough about my puppy and the breeders of him. They are very thorough, knowledgeable, willing to answer any questions I had. They went over and above to see that I got what I wanted and stayed way past time they were to close. I'd recommend them to anyone who wants a healthy, happy, well adjusted puppy. I have had four Goldens from Hunnington Farms and they are the most well behaved healthy dogs. I don't know what this other posters agenda is but something is fishy. I know many, many, friends, family, and even a vet that own Hunnington Goldens. She breeds wonderful dogs and they have brought such joy to my life. Pros: Best Darn Goldens in the world more

Breeder of heartache and heartbreak. Too much indiscriminate breeding. Too many dogs with hip dysplasia, elbow problems, knee problems, heart problems, skin problems, and short, miserable lives. Their dogs are the orthopedic surgeon's bread and butter. Puppy mill. Instead of educating new pet owners, they take advantage of them. Once you buy one of their dogs, it's yours. You have no recourse when your dog can't walk at 6 months of age. The only thing they will do is blame the owner for causing the crippling genetic disability the dog develops. Their dogs are way oversize. The dogs are also difficult to train and control. Cons: Puppy Mill. Kennel owner sleazy. Sells cripple dogs. Takes advantage of people. more
