Would not recommend store 3/4/2021

The store is too highly priced. The owner treats persons with developmental disabilities unkindly and takes advantage of them. Uses foul language with employees and seems to be narcissistic. Cannot believe that he professes the Jewish faith, but does not appear to "walk the talk". Will not go into this store due to the lack of professional behavior and inhumane treatment of employees! more

Butcher is better than Jewel on Howard 5/17/2009

Good butcher, although stock availability is not consistent. Terrible produce; it's always withered, old, and expensive. Grocery selection is heavy on processed convenience foods. For a while, they stocked an awesome Parmigiano-Reggiano imported from Italy, but the last couple of times I was there, they no longer had it. They are proud of their extensive (and expensive) wine selection, but the room has floor to ceiling windows that get sunlight and heat for hours every day. If you know wine, you know that's not good at all. It's a shame, because the selection is better than you can find anywhere else. more

Interesting to visit 1/17/2006

It is kind of unusual to come here if you're not Jewish. I didn't really pay attention to the name of the store and just went in to pick up some groceries....but it was a cultural experience, I'd never really thought about whether items I bought were Kosher. They have a big wine selection, if you're into that. more

Great Selection of Kosher Food 8/9/2005

Hungarian has been around for a long time. While it has recently lost a lot of customers to the Jewel-Osco supermarket chain, it's still a great place to find a huge selection of kosher food for purchase. Anything from meats to cheeses, frozen food, condiments.... it's all here. They also have a terrific selection of food when Passover comes around. Only complaint is that their items are a bit expensive. more

This is an entirely kosher grocery store that is the size of chain store grocery stores. All the convenience of a chain store They have fruits and vegetables, a deli, a huge wine collection, a bakery, a large selection of foods imported from Israel and the best of all. an awesome sushi bar! Passover time they have a huge selection of kosher for passover items. more
