Horrible Service !!!!\r \r I have spent thousands of dollars with this place for the last 10 years.\r \r Years ago ...service was ok.\r \r Last few years the service has been HORRIBLE .. from admin staff to doctors.\r \r Never return calls, takes almost one month to get lab results (of course after calling at least 2 o 3 times), doctors are not detailed and some are rude with your pets (Dr. Hutchkins),\r extremely high bills......\r \r Definitely you can get much better service for much less money somewhere else.\r \r I am out of here. more

Life Savers 3/16/2012

The Hulen Hills medical staff are pet life savers. The question in taking your animal to this clinic is: Is the animal part of your family or is he/she just an animal to you? I'm not going to say that the Hulen Hills medical services are cheap or even reasonable to the average income person, but if you love your animal the way he/she loves you Hulen Hills is the place to take them. You will be completely satisfied when your near death pet is nursed back to health and returned to you warm and wiggly. more

BEWARE!!!!!! 2/4/2012

I am disgusted and appalled at the treatment a friend of mine has received from the owner Dr. Hotchkiss. My friend took her dog there for grooming next door only to find when she picked him up that he had been shaved bald (without consent), had one of his nipples razored, had razor burn on his neck, and was acting as though he had been abused. He was scared, severely anxious, and it took him weeks to get over whatever happened to him. My friend took her dog to be checked over by a different vet and to get him treatment for his wounds. He had to be treated and put on antibiotics. Then she presented the bills, a letter of complaint, and pictures directly to Dr. Hotchkiss. He sent her a letter in the mail basically telling her she has over reacted and that all it was is "a bad haircut" and that he will not be taking care of any of the bills. It was callous, rude, and very unprofessional. I am shocked that he would be ok with his establishment having done this to this poor little dog. It demonstrates that the top priority is the bottom line....not humane treatment of the pets. Particularly when no one is watching. All these other glowing reviews are surely reviews of instances when the pet owners were present during their pet's treatment or when a lot of money was spent, therefore they got the red carpet treatment. What you do behind closed doors is another story! It is disgusting! Pros: null Cons: null more

Awesome vet clinic 4/19/2011

I have nothing negative to say about this clinic. I have been to several different vets over 2 years, plus one emergency center in Grapevine, that kept diagnosing my cat with hairballs. Every few months she would cough up blood to the point where she became dehydrated. It was Dr. Hotchkiss who recommended a simple Xray and discovered she had asthma. She is now being treated for that as well as a heart condition. He always explains everything to me, even showing me the actual Xrays as we progress along. Every vet up there has been great, and I believe I've seen them all at some point. As far as the post on the reality show goes...to me that just shows what a great clinic it is. Are they really going to feature some janky looking clinic with bad vets?! As far as being expensive, in my opinion they are comparable to other clinics in the urban area. Of course they are going to get your money up front, they are a business. If you want low cost care then go to the Humane society. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. They have been very compassionate with me and put up with me calling every 2 hours to check on my cat when she was hospitalized. They have allowed me to leave her there, free of charge once when I was in a bind. Great place, fabulous people. more

Unequivocal Excellence at Hulen Hills Veterinary Hospital 3/1/2011

To those animal owners that are looking for the unequivocal source of excellent pet care... look no further then Hulen Hills and Metrowest Emergency animal hospital on Hulen Street, Fort Worth. \r \r Here is the story of Dee Dee our 9 month old Black Lab puppy who is healthy, happy, and very much alive after a very near death incident after consuming between 10,000 and 20,000 mg of caffeine from finding and chewing open a full bottle of NoDoze caffeine pills. \r \r A day that we will never forget: Already at work on a Tuesday morning when my wife called me and informed me that in just 20 minutes time Dee Dee located a bottle of caffeine pills and consumed at least 50 tablets x 200mg each and reported her as acting "off the charts" and in very serious condition. Calling our vet at VCA/Fossil Creek recommended Hulen Hills/Metrowest Emergency Veterinary hospital. After what seemed an eternity getting thru heavy morning traffic we arrived at the hospital with Dee Dee's legs locked stiff, panti more

The best Animal Hospital on the Metroplex 11/5/2010

This is by far the best Animal Hospital on the Metroplex. My pet has one year old and the doctors have been treating him excellent. They have knowledge, they are kind and most of it they understand people (fathers) like us who really care about their pets and they know how important in life a pet can be. We are very happy and they give you options for your payments. more

worth it! 5/11/2010

I have been taking my pets to Hulen Hills for almost 12 years. I presently have 4 cats and a dog and my other old cat and old dog used to go there - before they died. My pets are really important to me and so it matters to me that they get really great care. The vets at both Hulen Hills and Metro West Emergency are knowledgable and available. When I have taken my pets there for things other than routine care, they call to follow up. They offer options - you definately can spend a lot of money - but you don't have to - they lay out the options for care and explain what they think is best. When my dog was really old and had a large tumor, we could have done some big surgery and chemo - but she was old and I didn't think that would be in her best interest. They supported my decision. You can get state of the art care there - they have equipment and training way beyond the average vet. It isn't the cheapest in town - but I would rather pay for the best. more

Hulen Hills has Saved Hannah's Mom! 1/19/2010

I'm the proud mom of a difficult border collie mix named Hannah, and I am so thankful for Dr. Hotchkiss and his team at Hulen Hills! As a first-time pet owner, this group of caring and skilled professionals has been with me every step of the way since I adopted Hannah from the animal shelter in December 2000. Hannah has significant anxiety issues, along with some fear-based defensive aggression - both of which were not apparent until she was about 4 years old . . .and totally unnerved me! Dr. H and his team of vets have been great at giving me the tools and resources to help me be the best mom I can be to my challenging pet. I know that many other vets would not allow me to be bring Hannah to their clinic, much less be a part of training classes. However, Hulen Hills has encouraged and helped me adapt to become the "alpha dog" and learn to deal with her unique behavior. From helping me know how best to relax her before bringing her in for check-ups to providing a safe and educatio more

You get what you pay for. 8/15/2009

I am sad to read some of these negative reviews. Hulen hills is the best in town and they did more for my dog in one visit than my old vet did for him over the course of four or five visits. Instead of just treating the symptoms like my other vet did, Dr. Hotchkiss figured out what was wrong with him -- and started treating the problem. My dog is finally back to his old self after just two weeks. The staff was nice and really knew what they were talking about. I knew this place was different from the second I walked in. More expensive, yes -- but only because they actually do something about the problem. more

Very Knowledgeable Staff 6/1/2009

Hulen Hills is very pricey but this is the only vet clinic which was able to help my cat get better when he was hanging to life by a thread. He has FIV, severe asthma, and allergies. Dr. Daley has been a lifesaver for my cat, we will not take him anywhere else besides to her. more

Go elsewhere, dont walk RUN 2/28/2009

I agree with Jeff M.After spending ~$2500 on my cat I was treated extremely rude and discourteous manner by one of the vets and the office manageress. When I questioned the diagnosis as my cat, as her blood work indicated she had gotten significantly worse I was treated in an appalling manner. The vet told me that I did not have a doctorate and should not question a diagnosis and the office manager told me I was to go somewhere else. Are vets Gods beyond question? I was terribly upset already having to face potentially putting my cat to sleep and this treatment after spending thousands of dollars was despicable. I would not EVER recommend anyone to go here, they fleece you of your money ($95 just to be seen after hours) and despite some lovely vets and receptionists who were extremely kind to me (in particular Karen and Dr Earley), my outcome has been dreadful. I was warned that this place was a ruthless business and a money pit and I wished I had listened.\r \r Update - After a misdiagn more

just horrible.... 1/19/2009

We have a young dog who suffered a neck wound. Had in 3 times and each time spent ~$500 for procedure. Just kept coming back and coming back. When it happened again we were told, "bring him in, it will be $100 for us to look at him". \r \r Took our dog to a different vet. They went in and operated and found a mass of scar tissue from the previous procedures and were stunned that Hullen Hills Animal Hospital had not done the necessary surgery to eliminate the problem. more

ONLY OUT FOR YOUR MONEY 12/30/2008

I totally agree that the staff is extremely friendly but I would not bring anymore of my animals to this clinic. I think they are only out for the money. They don't return phone calls when there is an emergency but only want your animal to come in so they can make an extra BUCK. I've had animals all my life and the review that I read previously said they were so nice when she had to put her animal down. Why wouldn't they be? They make anywhere between $150.00 to $250.00 so they can put your animal down. I didn't like them at all. more

Kind-hearted people at a difficult time 11/29/2005

When my elderly cat had to be put down, the staff at Hulen Animal Hospital were so kind and thoughtful. They gave me time to spend with him and explained in detail what the process was so that I would know he would not suffer. They comforted me, and took care of everything. Since then, they have provided care to other animals, and I have always found them to be expert in their care. I highly recommend them. more

TLC 11/14/2005

The staff at Hulen Hills took excellent care of my sick puppy. The doctors and nurses were very considerate and informative. Even though we were there under bad circumstances, they made the experience as good as possible. more
