The wood-grilled ahi steak my husband had and a lemon-ginger roasted chicken for me at this bistro in a beach setting was a good experience. The barbeque ribs and fire-grilled sh...

Awesome: Food and Ambience 10/24/2008

Service: A \r Food: A \r Value: B \r \r Hula Grill was a very nice and romantic restaurant. The food was fabulous and we talked about it for days after. I had the special (Ribeye) and my girfriend had some sort of chicken dish. It was pricey but when on vacation, I tend to splurge. The service was excellent and the ambience even better. I plan on going back the next time I visit Hawaii. I love it there! To check out pictures of the food, go to www.houstoncuisine.blogspot more

Nice atmosphere, so-so food 5/12/2008

I agree with the other reviewer. The food was alright, nothing spectacular; the draw for this place is the balcony seating right over Waikiki beach. The restaurant is nice, we were expecting a cheap, hole in the wall, place and found it to be much more in terms of atmosphere. A tasteful amount of kitsch and some cute table setups. Our waitress was nice and after our bottle of wine on top of earlier drinks got us a bit bubbly, she gave us the space we clearly wanted. My ono was a bit bland while my girlfriend's vegetable dish was a bit too spicy to be tasted. The wine selection ranged towards the pricey, but we found an affordable, mediocre Pinot Grigio. Pros: Neighborhood, ambiance Cons: lackluster food more

Average Food, great atomsphere and view 8/20/2006

The food here is only average at best. I ordered the Crab Wonton appetizer and the ceviche, also a mango margarita. both the appetizers portions were large, however it both lacked a bit of flavor. The prices were very reasonable, about $7 an appetizer, but big portions. The mango margarita was also nothing special. Basically the best thing there is the atmoshpere and the view. Pros: Ambiance more
