I love to take our children to the zoo but I really think Houston has to do something to make it better. I notice how we can spend tax dollars on so many other things; maybe we co...

Could have been better 9/17/2007

After going to other Zoos in the country the Houston Zoo really was not what I expected. The whole zoo just looked like it needed a lot of work. The area was kind of dirty and many of the animals had been moved to another exhibit. The children's zoo was closed altho im sure it probably was not all that. The staff is very friendly and know all your questions so that really did help. The park outside the zoon and the area the zoo is in is really fun. It is a great place to have a picnic and spend some time with your family. The zoo itself really did make you wish for more. If you have never been to a zoo before then this is a good zoo but once you have seen better it makes you wish the Houston zoo had worked a little harder. Pros: nice staff, parks are nice Cons: Price, dirty, parking more

Love it! 7/31/2007

I love the Houston zoo! The last time I visited, I had my grandsons, ages 7 & 8 now. They had a blast!. I think we saw every animal and attraction in the park. We even had a picnic there; just don't feed the birds. If you don't feed them, they won't come. Pros: Children friendly Cons: The heat and humidy more

New Houston Zoo 10/5/2005

The Zoo has transformed since it privatized a few years ago. I love the new Natural Encounters building. They've redone the bathrooms and everything seems cleaner. The employees are helpful and the animals awesome, as always. A wholesome, fun, day long experience for the price of a movie ticket--what a deal! more

Really Nice 1/18/2003

I injoyed going to the zoo about 4 times and I have to say it was great when I went . The only think I woukld have to say is you need more parking & the restrooms where really not all that great like I thought they would be. more

lots of fun but... 12/18/2002

Houston Zoo is much improved since I moved here 13 years ago. The animals habitats have gotten bigger, better and obviously more comfortable most of the animals. The tigers & lions are my favorite. They need penguins though!!! That would be cool. My only concern is they plan on raising the price to $5 per child. This is a wonderful place for people who do not have alot of money. Price increase would be a big concern of mine. I hope they don't raise the price that much. Pros: price (no increase!) Cons: crowds more

Perfect Day Outing 11/30/2002

Wonderful! This place has everything for every age. The kids will love the train ride, duck feeding, and paddle boats. The aniaml exhibits are amazing. It's not the Smithsonian Zoo, but it sure comes close. Take a look at the reptile house and the Wolf exhibit. Great date destination. and the museum, free outdoor theatre and IMAX are all right there next to it. Wonderful visit, don't miss this one! Pros: Exhibits, Parks, Cost more
