We were looking for something different in the Dells than the standard tourist fare, and we found it in the House of Embers. My wife had one of the best steaks she has ever had, the salad dressings were homemade, and the desserts are nothing short of amazing. I had the ribs. I'm a southerner, so I know what southerners expect from BBQ. Looking at some of the previous reviews, people came in with the wrong idea. This is not southern BBQ. These are something completely different and they are amazing. Re-adjust your expectations for these. It was expensive ($100 for a family of four) but well worth it. We will be budgeting for a meal here on return trips to the Dells. more

Good job 4/4/2012

I like House of Embers, I ate there twice, first time went in the evening had few drinks and appetizers, I would say it is a classy place for adults. The second time I went with few friends for a dinner - I had a steak and I liked it a lot, my friend had jumbo shrimp salad and she liked it too. It is a fun place to go listen to old music and just relax. It is also very clean inside and has great service! We will go back again! more

We went to the House of Embers on a recommendation of a co-worker and will now be the one recommending this place to others. The food was awesome and the service was great. It's a more expensive place, but worth it for the quality of food you get. more

For many years I have traveled to the Dells and did not go to House of Embers. That was a mistake. House of Embers is an excellent place to eat. It has fast become my faorite place to eat in the Dells. more

GREAT happy hour 2/1/2007

If you're looking for a happy hour pit stop- go here to the bar and have a burger at the bar with a beer. They take all their leftover cuts from meant and grind it up onsite for the tastiest tender juicy burgers ever. and they are really cheap! it's allright for dinner..hit or miss.we have had WONDERFUL meals and eh, ok meals. The service is usually really good and they have lil private rooms for special occasions that will just hold 2. feels like an old time supper club which is cool Pros: super happy hour Cons: sometimes food goes up and down...never know if its and off or on night more
