Best

We went for the Happy Hour! Drinks are a reasonable price and the munchies are delish! Two words, Voodoo Shrimp.

Worst

HOB has to be the worst music venue in the city. It caters to tourists who have no desire to experience the true culture New Orleans has to offer. A night at the HOB is like a tri...

Gospel Brunch 6/25/2010

I was glad to learn that the Sunday Gospel Brunch is back at the House of Blues. Only 1 seating though, at 10am. The Gospel music was great and uplifting and the food was delicious. You can buy tickets starting at 9:30am, but it's a bit cheaper to buy in advance. The ticket includes everything including free mimosas. It was a great way to start our Sunday Pros: Wide variety of food, great music, free mimosas Cons: sometimes sells out... buy in advance.. only 1 seating more

best drinks, great service, and great prices 12/4/2006

HOB is the best, I had a wondful time there. yes the drinks might be a little high but it is worth it. and the food is to die for. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED it, and yes you should try it out and see for yourself. It is for all ages and yes everywhere you go in New Orleans you have to have a picture ID so dont forget it because trust me when they tell you, you can't go in because you dont have it you might as well just go back to your vehcile and get it because you will regret it if you dont, so have fun and enjoy New Orleans while you can because you cant get enough of it!!!! more

speaks for itself 11/9/2006

what more can be said about this joint. House of Blues is a staple of the city. I went to the back section of HOB for a private function, the bartenders mixed drinks well and I had a lentils pasta which was delicious. more

Good food better entertainment 10/22/2006

The food here is decent. the best part is to watch or dance to the band. zydeco is usally the favorite but they also book headliners. more

Great art & food, beer too expensive 12/6/2002

The house of blues had a really delicious shrimp poorboy! I recommend you try it. I was impressed with the many legends of blues singers encased in glass on the ceiling. The gospel brunch was very loud, if you go on sunday for lunch you might as well join them. Its like the noisy party next door, your not going to sleep anyway so join it. The beer was way to expensive(3.75 for budweiser longneck). Drink elsewhere, but the food is alright. Pros: good food, trendy blues art, attractive scenery Cons: Expensive beer, Loud more

HOB should be removed from the planet 11/15/2002

House of blues sucks. Unless you like paying $3.50 for domestic bottles (i.e. bud light), and excessive ticket prices. The ONLY thing they have going is that they are big enough to draw larger bands than some place like the Howlin' Wolf. Or Tipitina's. more

Disney World 11/13/2002

HOB has to be the worst music venue in the city. It caters to tourists who have no desire to experience the true culture New Orleans has to offer. A night at the HOB is like a trip to Disney World, from waiting in lines to be searched before entry to the fake ""folk"" decorating and pricey drinks. Employees wear uniforms and McDonald's type drive thru head gear. Do yourself a favor a find a real New Orleans establishment with real people and smiling faces dancing their feet off. It will save you money and make your trip to New Orleans one of the best experiences of your life. Pros: Big name performers, Good sound system Cons: Artificial, Unfriendly, Expensive more

Gospel Brunch fantastic 10/22/2002

This was my mom's b-day gift and it was fantastic. Great food(all you can eat) great show. I recommend it to everyone!!!! The seats are great...the price is very reasonable... you HAVE to try the Champagne Mimmosas. It was fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: good price, good food, good show/service more

Da bomb of music venues! 8/26/2002

Yeah the House of Blues security team is a little whacked out, but a corporation tries to cover their tales on any situation in this day and age of law suits. What I really dig is their dinner line. If I go to a show which is sold out, what I do is eat in the restaurant during the day. Since you are spending so much money in the House they give you a special line to stand in. This is the dinner line that gets let in first, which gives you first crack at the best spots in the House. Pros: great parking, cool bartenders, diverse music Cons: crowded, hot and sweaty, expensive drinks more

For all walks of life,HOB rules 7/24/2002

HOB is the place to go for a laid-back, fun night out. From the food to the great music, there is nothing not to like about it! 5 stars! Pros: Diverse Atmosphere, Fun for all ages! more

Skip it 6/10/2002

In a city like this, HOB holds no charm but big shows may frequent the (only) downtown location. Nothing is wrong with it other than there's too much competition but it has all the modern amenities of big(ger) city venues. more

  • The Scene
Folk art is perfectly placed, theater-style ropes keep admission lines orderly, and efficient employees prowl the grounds with headsets or walkie-talkies. HOB proudly hawks its courtyard and takes a local role by hosting special events such as benefit concerts.

    The Draw
The top-level talent and customer service make it hard to resent this chain, which has eclipsed more homegrown venues. The company's deep pockets lure an eclectic range of big-name touring acts, from Ziggy Marley to Frank Black. The club also hosts several shows by emerging local bands each month. The dining room is huge and busy, seating nearly 300. Service is quick and friendly. HOB has po'boys, jambalaya and etouffee, but carnivores should try the slow-smoked baby back ribs with tangy Jack Daniel's barbecue sauce.
