Best

It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at goo.gl/FPxYD They have some of the best hotel deals on the web!

Worst

I almost fell asleep while watching people in nightmarish outfits. What's so cool about this place? The dorks who feel cool while hanging out in their Men's Warehouse suits? Pleas...

Great hotel BUT.. 4/7/2011

Best Bartenders at Santana Row! 10/30/2010

Love the V Bar The bartenders can make a mean drink! But at the end of the day, it is a Hotel Bar... Ideal for hanging out and having a visit. There is no boom-chicka-boom madness happening here. If you want to grind that out, go down to the Asian restaurant... you can't miss it. more

Gorgeous place to stay! 8/30/2009

I stayed here first time. This hotel is gorgeous and the room was very nicely decorated with a comfortable bed. It has a great location and you can easily walk to the nice shops and restaurants. I love this hip hotel bar and courtyard for drinks. A bit noisy at night, but overall I enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to stay with them again in the future. more

Come have a look, but don't waste the money or the calories on Citrus. 2/23/2008

I brought a friend here for a more quiet Santana Row experience. I love the decor and ambiance of this restuarant (and hotel). Dim lights, chic yet warm architecture and furnishings. But the food was awful. She and I agreed that the mashed potatoes must have come from a box. My horseradish-crusted sea bass had NO flavor (prior to ordering I had asked the waiter which dish had more flavor, the sea bass or their halibut). Also, the sea bass had a grizzly oily taste to it. Same with my friend's salmon stuffed with crab - the special of the night. She was thankful that I asked for some lemon wedges for both my food and my drink - a caipirinha that could peel wallpaper off the walls. We decided to forego dessert and stop before anyone got sick. more

Barely worth the trip 11/1/2007

I always remember hearing how great V-Bar was... and then I went. The drinks were good- great cosmos- so that was the only plus side. The location is fabulous, but then again, the other bars on Santana Row are just as good, usually better! I felt as though the patrons were a bit... pathetic. Early 30s men in their work clothes, ties loosened drooling over their soon to be one-night-stand. And the girls, they dress the part. Everyone just seems to eager I would say. But if you are with a group of friends, its a good time! I would say to start there for a drink and move on down the road (literally) Pros: Location Cons: Clientele more

FROM BAD TO WORSE 7/10/2007

Night #1- room way too narrow(less than 24"" walkway in front of beds), double mattress on a queen size bed frame(bumped shins On frame corners often), shower head 7'6"" tall, shower curtain did reach wall to wall, tub overflow completely missing from tub( got to see into drain system), bathroom door system very loud late at night(wakes partner), and hvac equipment on roof breaking down(loud noise directly overhead................. ...................... .................\r Night #2(same visit)- switched rooms, same shower issues, front desk did not allow a roll away bed in room(daughter slept in chair),bathroom door..., and room air conditioner would not cool below 76......................... .............\r Night #3(different visit)same shower issues, bathroom door..., cordless bedside phone only worked by speakerphone, tv remote malfunction, and MOST IMPORTANT- A VERY LOUD PARTY ACROSS THE HALL WAS ALLOWED TO CONTINUE FROM \r 12:30 AM - TILL 1:30AM WHEN I CALLED FRONT DESK AND COMPLAINED. Pros: location and got free night stay after two nights Cons: that free night more

Booooring 5/4/2007

I almost fell asleep while watching people in nightmarish outfits. What's so cool about this place? The dorks who feel cool while hanging out in their Men's Warehouse suits? Pleaseeee... Pros: It would be a cool place in nyc Cons: too many dorks wanna act cool more

Solid 1/10/2007

The restaurant is fairly small which makes for a very nice, romantic atmosphere. The bread that the server brings out with water is AWESOME. My wife and I each had an appetizer...she had the Lobster Bisque (not recommended) and I had the Caesar Salad (just ok, save yourself the money and eat more bread). We both ordered the Filet Mignon and it was very good. Not GREAT, but very good. The mashed potatoes and asparagus that came with the steak were both AWESOME. In addition, the service was excellent. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant highly because it's a great combination of food, atmosphere, and service. Pros: Ambience, Food, Price Cons: Appetizers (see review) more

Cool place, but DO NOT leave your card open at the bar. 1/1/2007

Cool bar, great atmosphere, but do not leave your card open. At the end of the night after my friends and I all left the bar, I noticed 8 extra drinks charged to my card that we did not order. Called the next day, and got no answer. Called again for the next two days, and still no answer. more

Well made drinks, excellent service, comfortable ambience 12/10/2006

This place is located in the Hotel Valencia on Santana Row. On a wednesday night there seems to be a huge gathering of professional men, so women if you're looking to meet a single man, this is a good place to start. The service is excellent, the cocktail waitress was very attentive and super friendly to me and my date. The ambience is low-key and smooth. Velvet couches and chairs are comfortable and easy to maintain a conversation with that special someone. Highly recommend this place. Pros: Great service, good drinks, nice ambience Cons: pricey drinks, no parking more

Thieves among employees. Don't leave your credit cards. 8/8/2006

A couple of months ago I forgot my credit card at the bar. I have done so on more than one occasion in places other than V-Bar and there were no issues - I was always to pick it up later. In some places, also, they destoy forgotten card rather promptly. \r \r I assumed nothing bad will happen in a relatively upscale place like V-Bar. I called them in a week and they said they destroy cards in 5 days. Fine. I can get a new one. I moved on and forgot about this until one and a half week later. \r \r Someone started charging things on my presumably destroyed credit card: restaurants, gas, Target, etc. Of course, I went ahead and closed my account immediately. Evidently they have failed to destroy my card as they claimed and aparently one (or more) of the employees used it. \r \r Beware.\r more

Decent for a couple of drinks with friends before moving on. 8/3/2006

This place is ok but I certainly wouldn't compare it to L.A.'s SkyBar. Place got packed late with mostly guys and the croud was so so. Some odd characters there I must admit (guys and gals). I was staying at the hotel so this was pretty much the only place I was prepared to go that night. I highly recommend the hotel though. Price and room quality is top notch.\r \r Closes early - I think it was around 12:30. No need to dress to impress here. I was there on the 4th of July so I'm not sure how the weekends are. Overall I would say it's average with an average croud. Not extremely social but not completely closed off either. I did meet a lot of decent people but I'm also extremely outgoing. I would not recommend this place to someone that is shy and looking to socialize.\r \r I can't imagine this place to be a totally fun night out and I certainly wouldn't bet on it. Probably best suited for friends wanting to go somewhere to chill with a croud for a couple of drinks before moving on..... Pros: easy access, smoking ok outside with your drink, walking distance to other places Cons: odd people, too many men, not very social if you don't know anyone more

Hot Bar 12/14/2005

Not a lot of bars this classy ni the South Bay. This is your best choice. Pros: Hot Place, Hot People, Hot Decor Cons: Expensive more

bartenders 11/3/2005

bartenders are fast and friendly. Great view down Santa Row. Drinks were strong and not watered down like some other places (Straits). Ample seating. more

Upscale?....please. 3/5/2005

For an upscale hotel bar, we were treated very poorly. The security guard presence was so overwhelming that it ruined my experience of the bar. He made ten rounds through the bar/lobby within 30 minutes and followed us as we looked for seating, then chased us out of the adjacent (and empty) hotel lounge because we weren't hotel guests. By 1:25am, he was asking everyone three times to leave the bar. I have never been treated this way at any upscale hotel bar in San Francisco, where they respect their customers and truly understand the meaning of classy. Pros: courtyard space Cons: security guard, not enough seating, too pricey more

just OK 2/13/2005

I wouldn't mind paying $10 for a drink if it was made right. The bartenders don't know how to make any drinks correctly, just stick to beer, I'm sure they can't mess that up. Besides the drinks, V Bar is really nice and has a good crowd. Pros: other bars nearby Cons: drinks more

A Gem! 1/20/2004

Wow, I didn't know you were there but am so glad I found you. Citysearch came through. I knew about V-bar but never realized there was such a great Steakhouse right next door and within the Valencia Hotel. I brought my wife in for a try and was really impressed. The meal was cooked perfectly and my waiter was awesome. It was a night to remember and thanks so much for being there....plus V-bar is right next door!!!!! Pros: Service, Food, Romantic more

My Review of V Bar 1/15/2004

The bar is pretty nice. Comparable to Sunset's Skybar. There are plenty of places to lounge on the side and outside, but the main lounge is rather crowded. Although I think it makes for a better atmosphere. The more the merrier! The lighting and atmosphere was superb. The music was mediocre and the drinks were pricey. Nine dollars a pop! Overall I recommend it. It is a nice place to hang and there's nothing else close that compares to it. Otherwise I head up to the city if the one hour drive is of no matter. Pros: atmosphere, service, crowd Cons: price, seating more
