This is a very convenient place to stay, very relaxing and quiet.

After a recent weekend stay at the Hotel Monaco, the room was very spacious even though the wall paper was awful. The leopard bathrobes were something out of the Flintstones. We h...

Great Hotel in Seattle 10/16/2009

the people are easy to work with, the rooms are clean and comfortable. we recently had our out of town wedding guests stay here and everyone was treated wonderfully! Pros: friendly, helpful, clean, comfortable Cons: parking cost more

Excellent ! This hotel made my husbands 40 th very special.. 3/24/2009

I wanted to find a special hotel to bring my husband for his 40th birthday. A great downtown location so that we could walk to all of the important sites that we would wanted to take in. I came across Hotel Monaco which happens to be one of The Kimpton Hotel chain hotels. But to say that it is part of a chain doesn't describe the uniqueness of this hotel. The decor is clearly shown throughout the photos on the website. I suppose you would describe it as New Orleans inspired/warm European. The staff was really warm ,friendly and helpful. We got a very good rate for the room. Being that is was for my husbands 40th, I wanted to insure that I got a special room but with the economy in the state that it is I am on a bit of a budget. I phoned the hotel directly to make the reservation but I gave them the rates that I found through online pricing i.e. Kayak.,priceline.They matched the lowest price that I had found happily. We were able to get a room on the 10th floor of this 11 story hotel. The view was of the city, I don't think you would get a view of Elliot Bay from this hotel, but it is very pleasant. The room was a suite and it was spacious and cozy. The hotel hosts a happy hour every night from about 5 - 6 where they serve wine in the lobby which is a very nice touch. On one of the evenings they had Guitar Hero set up for people to play, which is fun but it didn't disturb the other guests, it just added to the atmosphere. The guests consisted of every type of person. Young hipster's, a few families, older couples and people celebrating their 40th!. It is located on 4th street which is very near the Theater district and about a 10 minute walk from Pikes Place Market. Also, about a 15 minute walk from the ferries and old town Seattle. It is on a fairly steep hill which may or may not affect your decision, but that is downtown Seattle. To make you feel more at home they have a goldfish in your room that you can enjoy for your stay. Our goldfish was named Esther! Very cute touch. They also have Aveda products for you to enjoy in your room. On the bed they had duvet's, very compfortable, not sure if they were down but they were wonderful. They also have a resturant, Sazerac, a New Orleans style eatery. Our room rate had the Rise and Shine package which included breakfast. The nice thing was that the breakfast consisted of their American Breakfast, which was 2 eggs, homefires, toast/fruit and either Andouille sausage, bacon or ham and OJ ( I think it was Odwalla ) and coffee. If these choices didn't suit you you could order from the menu for the same value. Being that this was the most expensive item on the breakfast menu I felt as though you had several other choices! I also love the details of the resturant as well. Very lush and warm, we even loved the cutlery/service wear. One of the most special touches was that a bellman knocked on our door and brought my husband chocolate and let him know that there was a bottle of Sparkling Wine chilling ready to be delievered whenever he was ready. This was a very thoughtful touch and unexpected, since I hadn't ordered it and it was on the house. All in all, we loved this hotel and my husband had a terrific birthday. They made us feel like welcomed guests and we will definitely return to this hotel and possibly their other locations! By the way, with breakfast the room rate was only $135.00 per night. Pros: Chic,boutique-y but very warm and cozy !!! Cons: Downtown valet parking prices more

HOTT STUFF! Cozy, romantic, friendly staff 9/22/2007

We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times and have had an excellent experience on each visit. The location is ideal for walking to our favorite restaurants and nightlife [ Wild Ginger, Purple, Belltown...] and the staff is friendly but not obnoxious and ""canned"". For a few dollars extra we reserved the Medit. Suite and thoroughly enjoyed the jacuzzi tub, wink, wink! The ""W"" is directly across the street and the Four Seasons is on the next corner, so you have several bars and restaurants within a stones throw. We have stayed in many upscale hotels [often for business] but there is something unique at this one , maybe it's the evening wine reception or the slinky decor.....? Whatever the magic formula is, it works for us. Let's just say we ""rested"" a great deal, but didn't get much sleep, va ,va,va,voom!!! Pros: Great service, nice location, very romantic Cons: parking, no view from corner suite more

I expect a lot more for $330 a night!!! 8/19/2007

I made the mistake of booking an engagement celebration trip at the last minute. Hotel Monaco came highly recommended, but here are my thoughts. The Seattle hotel industry is made up of young and inexperienced workers. There is a difference between arrogance and confidence and the staff at Hotel Monaco clearly misses the mark. While they are not unpleasant, they certainly do not go out of their way to differentiate themselves through service. While paying $330 per night, we expected more personalized service. The front desk was unattentive and constantly pretended to be busy. I had let them know beforehand that we were there to celebrate an engagement and when we checked in, we did not receive an acknowledgement or nothing special from them. When I asked for a taxi, they acted as if they were doing me a favor. The doorman opened one of the doors for us and never once did a bellboy offer to take our bags. This is simply a sheep dressed up in wolf's clothing. They also overextend themselves by charging an arm and a leg for parking, for internet use in their ""business room"" and a so-so breakfast next door that we had to pay for. The rooms are clean, but they are very very small. It simply does not meet the standards of $330 a night. It was hard to stomach and I will not be staying here in the future. The W and Fairmont are right across the street and offer better value for your money. An acknowledgment of our engagement would have gone a long way. Pros: comfortable bed, good location Cons: small rooms, inexperienced and poorly trained staff, low value for price paid more

Home away from home that accomodates your pooch too! 3/28/2007

We stayed here for Christmas with our family and two dogs. For a pet friendly hotel, you would never know it from the cleanliness and beautifully appointed rooms, lobby and hotel. The suite we had was decorated like you would your home and the staff was truly accomodating to us and our pets. Since this stay, I look for Kimpton hotels when traveling. Pros: pet friendly, ambience Cons: restaurants on site are limited more

Fabulous! 1/23/2007

I've traveled quite a bit and tend to be picky about hotels, but this place was great. I LOVE the decor, although I can see how others with different tastes would think otherwise. The room was quite cozy and I didn't feel like I was in the middle of a city. The front desk staff and the concierge were very helpful. The location is perfect too.Kimpton seems to really know what they're doing. more

Goregous lobby, comfy, cozy bedroom & I love the Leopard print!!! 12/11/2006

My boyfriend & I decided to spend our 6 year anniversary at Hotel Monaco. We have a two year old so a night away is extremely rare and MUCH NEEDED!!! We arrived at the hotel, and waaa laaa, we found parking less than a block away. Yes, they do offer valet parking, but saving $30 makes for more Sangria for the rest of the night. The lobby of this hotel is breaktaking. The beautiful pillars, fireplace and french feel made us feel very welcome. The front desk was extremely kind and helpful. We headed up to our room that was on the corner and it was darling. Painted in candy striped walls with leopard print chairs and a nice swivel flat screen t.v. -- it was beautiful. The room itself isn't very big, but this hotel is more for a romantic getaway than a place to party. The bathroom too was very beautiful and accomodating. I loved that they offered cozy leopard robes to take advantage of and I did. Very high ceiling made for a great presentation. The bed was very soft and comfy. Plus, the hotel was in a prime downtown location. Sazarac's, the restaurant below is a great place to dine -- you must try the gumbo! We had a fun night on the town, headed back to the hotel and really enjoyed our room! We will definately be back! Pros: Very unique, cozy, colorful and tasteful in the perfect downtown locations Cons: You must enjoy color to stay here -- which I do!!! more

HATE THE DECOR 11/18/2006

I was not impressed by the this particular hotel. It was incredibly over priced and the decor was horrendous. Parking was expensive and there was no breakfast buffet. I would NOT recommend this hotel if you on a budget or would like a great view....... Cons: everything more

Great Stay! 3/17/2005

This place is very clean, sylish, and has some of the most comfortable beds in the industry. It's close to everything and has a great restaurant/bar in Sazerac. I would highly recommend Hotel Monaco to anyone and everyone. Cheers to their product and staff! more

Happy Traveler 5/10/2003

The Monaco staff was amazing and the Hotel was beautiful. Every request we had was taken care of promptly and the front desk staff even remembered our name when we checked out. Our pet goldfish also kept us company! Pros: Staff, Atmosphere, Wine Reception more

An ok place 4/13/2003

After a recent weekend stay at the Hotel Monaco, the room was very spacious even though the wall paper was awful. The leopard bathrobes were something out of the Flintstones. We had a lovely view of an alley with about 4 dumpsters. Not a terrible place to stay, but for the money there are alot better places to stay. The staff was very friendly and nice. Pros: staff, room size, jacuzzi Cons: value, view, location more

Nice stay, with baby 3/3/2003

We (two adults, one nine month old) stayed at the Hotel Monaco. They provided a very nice crib for the baby including blankets and crib bumper. We had forgotten to bring dish soap to wash the bottles out, and asked a waiter at the Sezerac restaurant for a little soap they offered to wash the bottles for us. The staff was very friendly from the parking attendant, front desk help and the room attendant. We would definitely stay here again! Comfortable room, great bed, no view, but were not expecting one. Parking was expensive, 25.00 a night, but where isn't it in Seattle? Attendants were very helpful with strollers and baggage. Pros: Comfortable, Friendly, Quiet Cons: Expensive to park more

Comfortable and hip with great service 11/7/2002

I stayed at the Hotel Monaco Seattle for almost a week. I found the staff very attentive and responsive. The rooms are very nicely appointed with nice linens, thick towels, free high speed internet access and Aveda shampoo, conditioner, soaps and lotion. My only complaints? Valet parking is really expensive at $26/night and is your only option, and the lighting in the rooms is a little dim. Oh, and I love the pet goldfish, but wish they didn't come pre-named! :) Pros: service, amenities Cons: expensive parking more

Unique and Friendly Hotel 8/8/2002

The Monaco is the most refreshing, stylish, modern Hotel, with creative and innovative interior design, lovely rooms, terrific staff, and the most convenient possible location from which to visit Seattle! more

If Jacuzzi's are your thing... 7/21/2002

Then the Monaco is your best bet. The rooms are great for a little romantic get away. They have Jacuzzi suites that are built for two, and they are about 3+ feet deep. They offer special packages for those who would like to make their partner feel completely special! Pros: hot tubs for two, central location, valet parking Cons: beds are to firm more

Top Notch 5/18/2002

I stay at Monaco hotels whenever I am travelling in cities that have one. The Seattle one -- most are the same -- is hip and colorful. The rooms are moderately sized and well appointed. The staff is exceptional. more
