Harrahs Race Track? 4/29/2012

The racetrack is a real armpit. Don't bring your wife unless she has a good set of earplugs or curses like a sailor.\r \r Today the races were in silence ....race caller intercom out of service until the\r 7th race.\r \r Do they care??? NO\r \r About 20% of the betting machines don't work.\r \r Employees rude at best\r Food really poor and very expensive\r \r Riverview restaurant overlooks the finish line but what good is it if it is closed?\r \r Go to Freehold Dover or Delaware Park\r \r more

Harrahs Chester Diamond Club charges money for drinks! 2/3/2012

Harrahs Chester Diamond Club charges money for drinks. Run out of shrimp cocktail 20 minutes after opening. It is really bad! I ordered two drinks and was handed a receipt for to pay $12. They open at 3:00 PM and I got in line for the food at 3:20 PM. The guy in front of me asked for more shrimp and the server removed the bowl for the shrimps and told him that there was no more. We spent a lot money at Harrah’s casinos all around U.S. and just last year they made it so you will need to have a 1000 tier more at 11000 points to get the Diamond card. We played all year and our Win / Loss Statement shown a loss of over $11,000 in 2011. My point is that after we lost so much money at Harrah’s casinos and we give them our business and then they treated us badly. My advice is if you are going to a casino stay away from Harrah’s brand casino’s that includes Caesars, Bally’s, Flamingo, Imperial Palace, Paris, Rio, Horseshoe, and Showboat. more

Better than parx 8/28/2011

I live only 20 mins. from Parx Casino but choose to drive 60 mins. to come here. First their rewards program is linked to many properties where Parx is just at one casino. This is important to us as we travel to Vegas and many other gaming towns. Second the casino floor is not huge but feels comfortable. They also have a great buffet and we are not buffet people. If I had to say something negative it would be the smell of smoke. Unfortunately casinos including NJ are exempt from most state smoking bans. Really this is not fair to the 80% of us who don't smoke. more

Harrah's is OK in my book!! 1/10/2011

Yeah, the location couldv'e been better, but then there would probably be even MORE people trying to win YOUR money. lol There's Free parking, Free sodas, its pretty clean. I won a lil somethin. You get free coupons in the mail. I heard a few people did win a few hundred dollars. Ooh by the way the buffet is Great!! When I was there the Chef came out to see if everyone was okay. The food was very flavorful from Pasta to London broil. So even if the casino doesn't work for you try the Buffet!! Sometimes you get to eat for Free!! (:>) more

a positive review 1/4/2011

i`ve never encountered any employee with a bad attitude. they`ve all been pleasant and helpful. coupons a scam? get real. i had a coupon that kept spitting back out and after a purple-attired employee showed me a trick, it worked fine. the parking is wonderful. as for being near a prison, be grateful for the many obvious security personnel as they`d probably nab an escapee fast. if you know the route, you do not go thru chester. no, it`s not a glitzy place but i go there to play - not to gawk at sparkly decorations. and, no, i don`t work there or know anyone who does. more

Don't waste your time 7/20/2010

So my roommate and I decided we would try and beat the nearly hour long commute to AC by checking out Harrah's the first thing you will notice is the casino is set back from the main road you drive in off of, this is because there is a prison in front of it. Literally 30 yards from the valet parking is the rec area for a prison!! Alright so leaving aside the fact that you are driving through chester and the prison is right in front of the front doors (literally) to the casino, the caisno itself is pretty small and it seems like theres alot of wasted space. You have to BUY your drinks, we're talking $4 for a cheap beer compared to AC where youd get whatever you want free. The waitress staff was non-existent and when one did come around to take orders you had a 50/50 shot of actually getting that drink, you'd regularly see your waitress walk back by again asking for orders again with nothing in her hand. The dealers were slow and made lots of mistakes, this as another review seems to point out may be due to lack of staff and getting them proper breaks, one of our dealers said he was over an hour late for his break and looked like he was going to pass out on the table. Security was ALLL over the place, I mean obviously in AC theres a ton of security but they tend to blend in when they are out and about and aren't as easily visible, at parks it seemed like they were swarming all over the place and didn't help make me feel any more secure being that close to the prison. While it saves you a bit of a trip and some tolls I was also hoping to save some money with lower table minimums but there was only a single $10 table on a monday night and there was a good crowd waiting to get on it. I understand this is even harder to find in AC but at least im getting free drinks as I wait for a spot to open up on a table in AC, here I just sat around and twiddled my thumbs and attempted to order a few drinks receiving half of the ones I ordered. Overall consensus, we are going to try out philadelphia park and Parx (which has free drinks) but will not return to harrahs, AC isn't that much further considering the difference in atmosphere and customer service. Pros: Parking, ther was a single $10 table on a monday night? Cons: small, pay for your drinks, slow dealers, BAD area more

seen better 6/23/2010

the location next to a prison in the middle of Chester is not the best, turn off for tourism. the place is huge and great parking, but not enough staff so whoever is working looks burn out, bad for customer service, compared to Parx casino is a ""0"". Rather travel all the way to AC, at least have more options. Pros: parking Cons: location, no complimentary drinks more

Scam 12/31/2009

I went to Harrahs Chester, PA last night, Thursday December 31, 2009 around 12:10am. All the slots machines, can not accepted the promotional coupon that we received in mail. It was so hectic in the casino, the line in the cashier was so long and crazy.\r \r Most of the Harrahs's chester employees can not handle that situation and really have bad attitude with customers.\r \r I believe this kinda like a scam, we received the coupon but cant used it. \r \r Be carefull... Pros: be carefull more

WHAT A GREAT PLACE - SO CLOSE TO HOME! 12/2/2009

I absolutely loved this place! Free parking in a garage, lots of restaurants and bars, a football field of slots OH MY!!! I highly recommend this for a quick night out without having to drive very far. Plus, it is Harrah's so I was able to use my Total Rewards card so I can earn points for Atlantic City. \r \r I also saw that they have concerts and live entertainment - so we are sure to go back to check out one of the upcoming shows.\r \r I highly recommend everyone taking a trip to Harrah's in Chester! Pros: ...Lots to do more

Not worth it 10/24/2009

After visiting Philadelphia Park Casino-Racetrack me and my friend decided to visit the Harrah's Chester and what a waste of time it was. Tthis casino is right next to a prison, yes a prison which is very odd to start. The casino is also located right in the middle of Chester which makes Atlantic City actually look nice in comparison. Once you get into the casino you will get carded for ID and have to wear a band around your wrist if you look underage. Now the worst part about this place is they have no free-complimentary drinks on the casino, you have to actually pay up to $7 a drink (Rum Runner-BlackRussian etc..) How do they expect to bring a younger crowd in here or in general someone that likes to have a few drinks on the house. The casino is nice inside but this casino is way behind any Atlantic City casino and IMO I won't even waste my time ever going back just the fact they won't even serve a drink that I can tip a few dollars on. Pros: Free Parking Cons: Drinks cost money, poor customer service and location more

You have to know when to hold'em 4/21/2009

Harrahs Chester is the same as Harrahs New Orleans - from a win/loose point of view... I have seen hot nights & fridgid nights too... Don't play if their not paying! Keep your cash for the nights when the machines are turned on... more

get ready to have no fun...but go to the stir and have a martini 3/8/2009

i actually live in chester, and everyone was extra excited, down right hyped for our very own bite of vegas. and boy, oh boy, was it a let down. i NEVER hear anyone win anymore. family members who work there(because they wanted city folk to work there, which brings business to the community..which is amazing) ...have literally told me ""the machines are rigged to have constant losses. and they know it""-my aunt husband, who services the machines for about 2 years. i only go there if friends wanna have some silly fun..and lose money. \r but, frankly, i don't see myself walking down the road to the casino. i was excited, but when i read at the harrahs chester website, they don't give information on the turnout rate from winners, and they had a complaint about a man who won a million dollar, and they wouldn't pay him for ""tax"" related reason, i just stopped going. overall, i think its okay if you wanna ""b.s"" worth a couple of people. but if you're ready to gamble...you better book that bus trip to A.C. or that flight to Las Vegas!!!! Pros: free parking the best martini i ever had @ 'the stir' Cons: its depressing to be in this place....and no games to choose from more

Do not go to Harrah's Chester 12/23/2008

I am urging you all to not visit this casino, based on the poor experience I had at my last visit. Without being too longwinded, here is a summary of my experience.\r \r 1. The racing betting machines malfunctioned for both myself and another young couple. There are not customer service agents or phones around to help when these mishaps occur, so you must abandon your machine to seek out help.\r 2. Later in my visit, a machine ate my ticket. When the attendant arrived, he accused me of stealing a ticket, and I was escorted to the side of the floor with a security guard. After 30 minutes, I was finally given a terse apology and a new voucher.\r 3. After contacting Harrah's through their website, I have yet to receive any direct reply from anyone in the Harrah's organization. I have requested that Harrah's review their procedures and assure me of changes. Unfortunately, Harrah's does not seem committed to providing good service. Pros: clean facility Cons: poor procedures. Lack of responsiveness more

Worst Casino 11/28/2008

Harrah's Chester is accross from the county Jail and you have to go thru a seedy area to arrive at this casino.\r Once there the employees are not very friendly, many of them have never worked in a casino and don' know how to be Customer friendly. The slots are the worst, you can go any day or night and the slot machines never payout. You will not win money, you will not get bonus on the machines. The food at the buffet is not good at all and closes by 9pm and you then have to go to a mini bar cafe with made up sandwiches (not good). $4.50 per ATM transaction.... Harrah's is taking in so much money from the locals that it wlll never need a bail out.. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY. You will play $200.00 to $300.00 and maybe get a bonus and may win $5.to $20.00 Harrah's Chester never pays, just take, take, take and the comps are not great. No Hotel, No Hotel vouchers for Hotels at Airport (noithing) And you need to be very careful driving thru the City of Chester, Pa and its no fun never winning. Alot of penny slots that most play and no one wins anything. Increase you bet and you still don't win....Go to Delaware, Pennsylvania is Takeing the peoples money like you would not beleive. Pros: free parking Cons: take in percentage more

Casino first, horseracing second 6/1/2008

As someone who goes to the track for a horseracing experience, I find Harrahs Chester more designed to be a casino, than a horseracing parlor. You can only bet races on the second floor, although they have a sports bar upstairs that should have betting machines, so you can enjoy the great view, and watch the ive races through the window. It is incomprehensible why Harrahs confines racing to the second floor. It just shows me they only care about their casino, and just do racing ""on the side.""\r \r The horseracing bar closes by 11:30 PM, even though the races continue to 1 AM, and the prices are steep ($4 per draft), but they do have daily specials. The bartenders are friendly. We have gone there to bet race tracks that they were taking (Cal Expo), only to find they would only cash up to race 10. I don't know why they won't let us bet later races and cash the next day.\r \r The tellers are fine, although the lines are too long, and they probably could use a few more live tellers.\r \r There are lots of places to eat, but they are not always open. And yes, it is smoky, but that does not bother me, as it comes with the territory.\r \r The management seems interested in solving your issues, although some things are decided a a higher level.\r \r Pros: closeness to philly, employees are friendly, beer specials Cons: hate drivers in parking lot, smoke, more of a racing focus, beer price, racing bar hours more

Just go to Atlantic City... 5/10/2008

We live in Philly so we thought this might be a good alternative to driving the 40 minutes down to Atlantic City. The casino is small, filled with cigarette smoke and doesn't have the same fun feeling that AC does. Also, if you're under 30, prepared to be tagged like cattle with a neon yellow wrist bracelet given to you by workers who look and act like they are on work release from the Chester County Prison. This was definitely a disappointment and a waste of our time. Don't waste yours - just drive the extra time to AC! Pros: free parking - close to philly Cons: employees, games, smell, atmosphere more
