It took me almost 3 years to find a doctor I trusted to perform my sinus surgery. After meeting 6 doctors (3 of whom didn't even look at my CT scans!) I finally found Dr Hopp who was referred by a cardiologist over at cedars. My first appointment was almost 2 hours long! Most of which was spent in the office and NOT in the waiting room! Dr Hopp was beyond thorough. He took new scans since mine were old and then patiently explained every nook and cranny! I was honestly almost in tears because for once I felt I knew what all of my problems were and what needed to be done in order to fix them. Dr. Hopp was hands on through it all. He even has a great sense of humor! The surgery went great as did all of my check up appointments. This man knows his stuff better than the back of his hand! I had MANY issues with my sinuses and here I am, 5 months after surgery and my only regret is that Dr. Hopp was not the first doctor I had interviewed 3+ years ago! I have not been sick once and feel like a million dollars! I will PERSONALLY speak with anyone who has any hesitations about this doctor! I showed up early for my appointment and had to wait nearly an hour until I was even moved to the waiting room. Then another half hour to see Dr. Hopp. He took little interest in my symptoms and history, and cut me off several times as I was explaining myself. After our brief consultation and x-ray, I waited another half hour for him to review the results. The remaining 30 seconds our interaction consisted of my desperately trying to ask questions as he wrote out a prescription (which neither I nor my pharmacy could read). He treated my questions as pesky annoyances in his busy day, and after finally telling me what he was prescribing, never mentioned any of the possible side effects. Is it too much to expect that my doctor would simply ask me if I am comfortable with the side effects? Instead, I had to research the side effects online and much to my dismay, learn that the steriods he prescribed have very strong side effects. My experience with Martin Hopp was that of an impersonal, pill-pushing doctor, concerned more with getting me out the door, than with accurately assessing my symptoms and guiding me through the various treatment options. smug, uncaring doctor-1 hour wait for 5 minute visit. unnecessarily prescribing prednisolone for a nasal polyp caused my son to go into psychosis. if dr. hopp had spent a few more minutes of his expensive time getting to know my son's history, he could have determined it was not a good idea. steroids should not be administered w/o caution. 3 other doctors commented that prednisolone was an awfully big gun for a nasal polyp - they did not understand why he would prescribe it . more
